... oh, he's the one who withdrew when they found out he had sort of forgotten he was married to a member of Trump's staff when filling out a questionnaire. Or was that another severely underqualified candidate?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 15/12/2017 11:46

That was another one (the one who used to be a ghost hunter!). There isn't any news on whether this one has been successful or not (I don't even know what the process looks like so he might have to have more interviews?)

Lweji · 15/12/2017 13:10

'I believe I haven't'

NO will do thank you!

Ah! But then if you say NO, you could eventually be charged with perjury. If you say "I believe" then nobody can claim you didn't.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 15/12/2017 13:24

Which is Sessions' usual method but it doesn't really make sense in this instance because surely no one would later turn around and say "Gotcha! You DO actually know what Motion in Limine is!" or "We're going to charge you with perjury because we've discovered the number of depositions you partook in wasn't around 5 as you indicated but actually 11!" Grin

Lweji · 15/12/2017 13:25

I'm sure they are just scared to commit to ANY statement.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 15/12/2017 13:30

You're right - if he's anything like the other delightful people Trump surrounds himself with, then reflexively being slippery probably runs through his veins

lionheart · 15/12/2017 13:31

It's fascinating.

lionheart · 15/12/2017 13:33

This should be a good speech.

Hoo boy indeed!

Fekko · 15/12/2017 13:38

Maybe it's a trap.

There's rumblings on twitter (so apply salt liberally) that Kushner is in shit.

e.g.

J.J. Patrick‏
@J_amesp
Rumours now escalating that Kushner is the next domino to fall.

I'm not at all suggesting that this is confirmed - rumours aren't exactly trustworthy - but it would be a great end to an already amazing week!

Anniegetyourgun · 15/12/2017 14:13

It's a lawyer thing, then. It's more important to be slippery than truthful.

You remember the old joke about the boss interviewing an engineer, a mathematician and an accountant for a job? He asks each one "What is 2+2?" The engineer states confidently that the answer is 4. The mathematician gets out a slide rule, notebook and pencil, and after extensive pondering concludes the answer is somewhere between 3.9 and 4.1. The accountant looks around, leans forward and whispers "What would you like it to be?" Guess who got the job...

Rep. Matt Gaetz, who was with Trump on Air Force One last week, says on CNN that it's time for the special counsel to "put up or shut up." "I call on my Republican colleagues to join me in the firing of Bob Mueller."

Q: Will you consider a pardon for Flynn?
Trump: "I don't want to talk about pardons of Michael Flynn yet."

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 15/12/2017 14:47

Are they ramping it up because the dominoes are about to fall? Trump is disparaging the FBI whilst standing outside of it

BlazingPaddles · 15/12/2017 14:48

Isn't Gaetz that guy who had all the DUI charges? He seems like a total scrote.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 15/12/2017 14:49

Oh, he might have said this re Flynn (I can't find an video clip so not sure)

We'll see what happens? Will we?

President Trump this morning after being asked: “I don’t want to talk about pardons with Michael Flynn yet, we’ll see what happens, let’s see. I can say this, when you look at what’s going on with the FBI and the Justice Department, people are very, very angry.”

cozietoesie · 15/12/2017 14:55

I wonder how much work Rosenstein is accomplishing this morning.

And not expected to get better under the new tax scheme and if Obamacare is screwed up with.

cozietoesie · 15/12/2017 15:59

Yes. It is heartbreaking. Sad

Roussette · 15/12/2017 16:05

Shocking shocking article Lweji. I've read it twice and it just got worse the second time. I can't begin to imagine how it can get worse because there were so many parts of that article that blew me away (not in a good way).

This bit Shock Shock Shock
'The tour comes at a critical moment for America and the world. It began on the day that Republicans in the US Senate voted for sweeping tax cuts that will deliver a bonanza for the super wealthy while in time raising taxes on many lower-income families. The changes will exacerbate wealth inequality that is already the most extreme in any industrialized nation, with three men – Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffet – owning as much as half of the entire American people.

A few days into the UN visit, Republican leaders took a giant leap further. They announced plans to slash key social programs in what amounts to an assault on the already threadbare welfare state'

Trump at it again with his lies and nonsense.
