This might force the uk government into stopping their pretence of ignoring that there’s a problem and acting as if everything about Brexit was legit. How they’ve managed to get away with resisting any attempt to acknowledge there’s a problem, let alone do anything about it, has always baffled me

Wow. WSJ confirms Mueller has demanded evidence from Cambridge Analytica. This is a very big deal. Not least for Britain.

Recap: Electoral Commission is investigating impermissible donation from Cambridge Analytica to @NigelFarage & @Arronbanks’ Leave.EU campaign 2/

That’s @nigel_farage the v good friend of Steve Bannon, director & shareholder at Cambridge Analytica at the time of ref. On day, Article 50 triggered. ‘Well done Bannon. Well done Breitbart. You helped with this hugely.’

I want rid of Trump but heaven help us if Pence is the alternative

I suspect someone was aware of this when he was chosen.

Still, Pence and a Democratic House and Senate? Maybe...

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 15/12/2017 07:21

Yes sorry, shouldn’t have glossed over that it is actually an appeal for PR. Surely international aid communities step in at some point, or is that too politically antagonist?

I think pence will go down too - if there’s any taking down allowed to happen at all - because he’s
Up to his neck in it with the knowing Flynn was compromised but still doing jack all to stop him being head of the nsa. And there’s bound to be more.

White House confirms that President Trump spoke with Vladimir Putin today and promises a readout tonight. Kremlin has already released its readout.

Christina Wilkie
@christinawilkie
NEW WH: "Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin today. Trump thanked Putin for acknowledging America’s strong economic performance in his annual press conference."
Seriously? That was the point of the call? To "thank Putin for acknowledging" we have a strong economy?

Collusion or not, the idea that a U.S. president would "thank" a hostile foreign power "for acknowledging" the hard work and ingenuity of Americans, seems surreal.

Full WH readout of Trump’s call with Putin >>

Trump thanks a hostile power for “acknowledging” how strong U.S. economy is, while that same hostile power works 24-7 to weaken our economy, our security and our standing.

To borrow Steve Bannon’s phrase, I’ll bet Putin likes knowing he's living rent-free inside Trump’s head.

Trump “might legitimately feel insulted by any mention of Russian hacking...But it’s quite possible his hair-trigger anger over the subject of Russia is a tactic designed to close off a subject on which his guilt runs very deep.”

lweji given that trump reinstated the Jones act after a mere two weeks (or maybe even ten days? I can’t remember) I’d imagine it’s unlikely they’d allow that to happen. It’s almost a wilful genocide, deliberately not improving conditions with no intention to solve any problems.

I particularly enjoyed the many varied ways he came up with to avoid saying "no" in answer to all the questions about whether he had experience and/or knowledge. Have stored a few of them for when I need to extricate myself from such questions (though hopefully not in nearly as humiliating or public situations!).

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 15/12/2017 11:18

Incidentally, two of Trump's judiciary picks withdrew their nominations day before yesterday (at Grassley's urging!), which Maddow saw as a sign of Trump's waning influence and power ie the Republicans now didn't have so much to fear if he turned on them given how his political plans played out in Alabama, so if that's the case it can only be a good thing.

'I believe not'
or
'I believe I haven't'

NO will do thank you!

Anniegetyourgun · 15/12/2017 11:34

Amusing in a kind of horrifying way. The important question is, did the committee confirm the know-nothing applicant? Or maybe that's what the social media question at the end was for - to weed out all the wishy-washy liberals who haven't tweeted in favour of the KKK...
