To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

Today I bought my son the monthly CBeebies magazine and this was smack bang in the middle of it. It was supposed to be about doctors but this is just promoting cancer, heart disease, diabetes, ect. I'm no vegan but I know when I'm sitting there eating a cheese and egg sandwich that it's not good for me, yet this is stating it's vital to have 2 unhealthy groups of food each day to be healthy. This gos against the NHS, the WHO, and just science in general. I would have expected this 10 years ago but it's 2017 and we know better.

To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

I'm nearly vegan....veggie for 20yrs and I have no idea what the fuck you are talking about!
Plus this has made me want to break the habit of a lifetime and go and get a egg n cheese McMuffin....just so I can mentally stick two fingers up to OP while eating it!

Maccie Ds is only a 10 min walk away....

PinkSquash · 05/12/2017 09:02

Still no peer reviewed studies? Darn and blast!

I do really fancy a double sausage and egg McMuffin this morning. Obviously with extra plastic cheese for the added deliciousness.

NorksAkimbo72 · 05/12/2017 09:18

Darn. I'm only checking in for the peer reviewed studies, and to see if the OP is actually going to participate. I feel like I've been sucked into a goady thread!! Shame...

RestingGrinchFace · 05/12/2017 09:21

You are so right, children really shouldn't be eating grains at all! And fruit is full of sugar! Ffs pull your head out of your arse. Plant protein isn't sufficient for children. The vast majority of plant proteins are unavailable proteins and, given that children have comparatively fast digestion and small stomach capacity they won't be able to digest enough to meet their needs.

Commuterface · 05/12/2017 09:30

Nutella, jam, marmalade = bad
cheese, egg = good

What's the problem?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/12/2017 09:36

Nah, you've strung it out too long now. I call goady pants...

nadinexo1 · 05/12/2017 09:37

yum @cheese and egg. the posters who are questioning this combo are BU.
egg and cheese wrap
cheese omelette
quiche
egg muffin with cheese
all kinds of yum

I've come back this morning to check the peer reviewed studies Sad

And to go against the trend... there is NOTHING better than a boiled egg sandwich with a grating of fresh parmesan and a touch of full fat mayo.

Kewcumber · 05/12/2017 09:46

@WhimsicalTart - I had to give DS a bacon sandwich for breakfast as I was too scared to give him eggs or cheese Shock

Ecureuil · 05/12/2017 09:48

I’ve got an apology to make. I slagged off the egg/cheese combo above but I’ve just remembered we fairly regularly have breakfast burritos (a wrap with scrambled egg, chilli, chorizo, coriander and some melted Gouda cheese) and it’s the food of the gods.

Ecureuil · 05/12/2017 09:49

My 4 and 2 year olds had boiled egg and wholemeal soldiers for breakfast. I was looking nervously around for the food police the whole time they were eating!

yawning801 · 05/12/2017 09:52

YABU to mention cheese and egg together.
YA also BU for exaggerating. In what universe does a cheese and egg sandwich cause cancer and diabetes?

MrsG841 · 05/12/2017 09:53

Wtf is wrong with you OP...i feel for your children if your teaching them this bollocks

SleepingStandingUp · 05/12/2017 09:55

@ButterfliesAreWeird so are you raising the DC vegan if you don't want them eating meat and dairy? Assume you live on a similar diet too

BastardGoDarkly · 05/12/2017 10:05

I need to know if the egg in your sandwich was mayo/plain boiled/fried.

and where your peer studies are

Sunnysidegold · 05/12/2017 10:10

I thought a balanced diet was a healthy diet. I don't think CBeebies are promoting cancer...how do you even promote cancer?

Surely a bit from every food group is needed, just the proportions need to be right. That picture is very similar to the eat well plate, which I think is maybe seen to be a bit out of touch now, but nevertheless it's not saying live off pepperamis and mars bars.

Rollmopsrule · 05/12/2017 10:15

I discovered melted cheese and sausage sandwich a few months ago. It was life changing....

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 05/12/2017 10:18

Scrambled eggs, ham and cheese are a recommended breakfast for people with cystic fibrosis. It used to be DS1's favourite, he could make it himself from diagnosis at 5yo.

Rollmopsrule · 05/12/2017 10:18

Btw the NHS doesn't say diary is unhealthy. I work for the NHS and give regular diet advice to people ( I keep my love of cheese and sausage sandwiches to myself Grin)

Rollmopsrule · 05/12/2017 10:19

Oh dear I can't spell dairy.....

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 05/12/2017 10:28

I had a sausage and egg McMuffin yesterday. But only because their bacon supplier hadn't turned up. Xmas Angry

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 05/12/2017 10:48

The OP’s not coming back, is she?

EdmundCleverClogs · 05/12/2017 11:04

The OP’s not coming back, is she?

Hey, it’s difficult to find these peer reviewed sources! I’m sure she’s spending hours looking through other materials - maybe Thomas the Tank magazine, they certainly wouldn’t encourage a diet of anything but healthy coal.
