To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

ButterfliesAreWeird · 04/12/2017 20:07

Today I bought my son the monthly CBeebies magazine and this was smack bang in the middle of it. It was supposed to be about doctors but this is just promoting cancer, heart disease, diabetes, ect. I'm no vegan but I know when I'm sitting there eating a cheese and egg sandwich that it's not good for me, yet this is stating it's vital to have 2 unhealthy groups of food each day to be healthy. This gos against the NHS, the WHO, and just science in general. I would have expected this 10 years ago but it's 2017 and we know better.

To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?
OP posts:
hockityponktas · 04/12/2017 23:00

Oh hang on, do you mean a fried egg?
I'm possibly warming to the idea.

gingergenius · 04/12/2017 23:05

@hockityponktas - soooo many possibilities....

I really really want an egg McMuffin now. With glorious plastic cheese.

SparklyMagpie · 05/12/2017 00:09

Originalfoogirl Grin

Eyebrows aside, I LOVE Dr Ranj and my 2 yo DS does too singing all the songs, I feel for you missing out on him now

C'mon OP stop eating shit and throw up some of these reviews!

KhalliWali · 05/12/2017 00:11

I was expecting this to be another ham-bashing thread! So disappointed Sad.

Shen0102 · 05/12/2017 01:23

OP it's called a balanced diet!

Too much of anything is not good for you. If someone eats a 100 apples a day they can still gain weight.

Autumnleaves105 · 05/12/2017 01:32

What the hell do you eat? What do you feed your children?
Give us an idea of your daily food intake...

trulybadlydeeply · 05/12/2017 03:25

What are your qualificatio ns, OP? Sounds like you have studied and worked in nutrition. Would be interesting to see an overview of the literature y you have mentioned.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/12/2017 03:53

Is op still eating their cheeseless, eggless, meatless dinner?

Vegan perchance?

You’ve centred on the wrong food group. Excessive eating of carbs is the issue.

MorningstarMoon · 05/12/2017 05:05

🤔 still no evidence to back up her claims I see.

Excuse me while I go and eat my egg sandwich -with cheese because it sounds fantastic-

WombOfOnesOwn · 05/12/2017 05:06

Yeah, nothing worse for kids than ... fish? Milk?

Imagine the early death of a child forced into a meal that included all these food groups, like grilled salmon, broccoli, rice, strawberries, and a small cup of milk!

What an unhealthy lifestyle that would be! Chicken breast, noodles with butter, salad, and half a pear -- scandal! Turkey burger with a slice of cheddar cheese, green beans and an apple, they'd surely have a heart attack.

BishBoshBashBop · 05/12/2017 05:22

Cheese in scrambled egg... Bring it on

Yes please.

Still no 'peer reviewed studies' I see.

CaptainWarbeck · 05/12/2017 05:38

but I know when I'm sitting there eating a cheese and egg sandwich that it's not good for me

Well that's a sad state of affairs. I know when I'm sitting there eating a cheese and egg sandwich that it's bloody delicious AND good for me, so I know who's having a better time (and healthier).

BeetrootTart · 05/12/2017 06:35

This is obviously not a serious post but as a vegan, even I'm confused Confused by non-vegan OP with the dairy, egg and meatless diet... All you do with posts like this is give people like me, who don't harp on about their food choices, a hard time because apparently all vegans are militant.

Peanut butter isn't particularly healthy OP. It's given to starving children in impoverished third world countries because they're STARVING, it's cheap and is extremely calorie dense. Aid charities aren't worried about providing a balanced "wheel of food" they're trying to stave off infant death. Did I really need to explain that?

Justanothernameonthepage · 05/12/2017 06:42

I've definitely seen studies that say wine cuts cancer risks so just off to look for school lunch box size cartons ...

cherrycola2004 · 05/12/2017 06:46

Cheese and Egg won't give you diabetes also it would be type 2 diabetes

Zoomaa · 05/12/2017 08:09

Chegg?

PizzaPower · 05/12/2017 08:27

Still no peer reviews. How will I know what to have for breakfast. (Conflicted)!

HermionesRightHook · 05/12/2017 08:29

Now, now, it takes a long time age (unfortunately) access to all kinds of medical databases to do a proper literature search - I'm completely certain that the OP will be back with her peer reviewed studies later today.

She's definitely not been scared off by all the people on this thread that know how to read and analyse them properly.

Coconutspongexo · 05/12/2017 08:32

It’s ‘promoting cancer’ really? Hmm

Pannacott · 05/12/2017 08:35

OP you are wrong. Mistaken, lying or a goady fucker.

Bring on the peer reviewed studies.

(Are you an anti vaxxer btw? Just a hunch).

ferrier · 05/12/2017 08:38

Has op not read the peer reviewed research that says eating after 8pm is carcinogenic?

WoolyMammyoth · 05/12/2017 08:43

In the past few years they have proved meat, eggs, and dairy cause heat disease, diabetes, and cancers.

So the quiche I was served in hospital is going to kill me? Good to know. I'm vegetarian, so didn't read the full menu, but I'm almost certain my local hospital was also serving (gasp) meat.

Also, egg and cheese sandwiches were a student staple for me Grin Sliced boiled egg and a bit of cheese. Yum!

Pannacott · 05/12/2017 08:47

Oh and I do hope you are going to share which databases you've searched, your search terms, and your search term results, so that we can be confident you haven't stumbled upon a single study, the results of which could be a false positive?

PinkyBlunder · 05/12/2017 08:47

Dammit. I only checked in so early to check out the peer reviewed studies but see they haven’t materialised.

Disappointed Xmas Hmm

Ansumpasty · 05/12/2017 08:52

YABU. It's a cheese and egg sandwich, really? The average U.K. child in the average U.K. home (which is who the magazine is obviously aimed at as they wouldn't aim it the minority who eat kale and drink kombucha as a normal lunch) would class a cheese and egg sandwich as a nutritious meal. Jesus wept 🙄
