They still do back to front? That was around 15 years ago when I first came here and was immersed with students!

Madsy1990 · 04/12/2017 19:00

I haven't read the whole thread so I'm not sure if it's been brought up, but can somebody enlighten me on what 'mandem' means? (No idea if I've spelled it correctly)

LemonadeWithACherry · 04/12/2017 19:02

My DS describes something good (eg food) as peng, dank or fire.

Bad things are slack, peak or dark.

calamityjam · 04/12/2017 19:05

Mandem is your crew or your mates see also gyaldem female version.

To DD’s friends ‘Peng’ means ‘fit’ or ‘attractive’ Hmm

To ‘bang’ someone means to have a fight with them! BlushConfused awkward!

VeganIan · 04/12/2017 19:22

I responded to my DD's whatsapps today with this stuff. I say whatsapps, but they were about half the usual number because she was clearly so flabbergasted to go on as much as she usually does. "Peng, innit homeslice" bought me complete stunned silence for hours Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 04/12/2017 19:23

This makes me laugh Grin

Ginburee · 04/12/2017 19:26

One of my younger patients told me I was "well sic" the other day and I took it as a compliment.

Funko · 04/12/2017 19:27

I found my people!
I mean... wassup! Where you at ma g's!

My DS is at football and he's so gonna get slayed wiv ma new sic wordz wen is bak in the crib fools

Innit fam is my favourite

They are constantly screeching such tings at each other on the PS4, things like 'hackers', which is suspect is supposed to mean they suspect the other player is in fact a hacker and are cheating the game when in actual fact they are just better and are winning.

So they are just bare sore losers

Also 'triggered' is oft bandied about! Wtf is that all about?

niceupthedance · 04/12/2017 19:28

I thought homeslice came from bredrin ?

Don’t be bate

Bun that

I love street jive Grin

wizzler · 04/12/2017 19:34

I find threatening to use the word "lit" in public brings the little darlings to heel very quickly. Also dabbing, but that is truly beyond the pale

SilverdaleGlen · 04/12/2017 19:39

You've inspired me, I just tried 'sup blud on my rural born DDs. Reaction:

8yo Hmm
3yo Confused
5yo "where mummy where's the blood, why is there blood??? My thumb was bleeding and my teacher doesn't have plasters, can I have a plaster mummy. I'm worried mummy can I have a plaster??

Wish I'd never read the damn thread fam.

SoupDragon · 04/12/2017 19:39

How can I drop halal ting into a conversation? I tried googling but only got a restaurant in the Shard called Ting which serves halal meals!

Coconutspongexo · 04/12/2017 19:44

‘Take the L’ is another one

Choccywoccyhooha · 04/12/2017 19:46

I'm pretty unimpressed by the yoof of today, reading these. They haven't changed since I was teaching in Hackney 16 years ago. "Nah, 'low it Miss-man, dat's long, innit doh." "Nah, ain't coming detention, miss-man, man got bizness." And ting innit tho, blud.

Homeslice is a new one on me. Good one kids!

I have to admit, I started using "innit tho" as a joke years ago, and now it's a habit I can't shake.

HemanOrSheRa · 04/12/2017 19:48

You can just replace the word 'allow' with 'halal' Soup. I think Confused. You don't need to wait to use ting as well Grin.

HemanOrSheRa · 04/12/2017 19:51

Bearing in mind that 'allow' means 'leave it' in yoof speak. As in 'Nah blud. Allow it'.

dementedma · 04/12/2017 19:51

My dcs refer to my 83 year old mother as gee-ma or the G-meister.

lfrancis12 · 04/12/2017 19:53

You could use some New Zealand slangon her of you like.
Next time she asks you a question and the answer is no, say "aw yeah nah." Basically your acknowledging the question with "aw yeah", then saying no with "nah". If you want to go the next level up just add a bro on the end. GrinXmas Grin

SoupDragon · 04/12/2017 19:55

So, if I want my personal teen to stop something I have to use halal ting because that means allow which means stop...? 😂

mishfish · 04/12/2017 19:56

Lit bruv

SoupDragon · 04/12/2017 19:57

I foresee an increase in the numbers of confused teens of MNers over the next few hours...

Happydoingitjusttheonce · 04/12/2017 20:02

Gingernut, I have been completely puzzled over my 14yo apparently saying wagwan. I still am but at least I know how it’s spelt!
