For no reason.

Mine is Wings by Little Mix and I don’t really know why. I’m not even a fan of them, although they’re very cute. I’ve just listened to to the song and the tears are flowing. My DP is Hmm.
The other is God Only Knows but I understand why that would make me cry.

Anyway. what songs are guaranteed to make you have good cry.

Dancing in the sky by Dani and Lizzy
Feels like Home Edwina Hayes
Can't get halfway through listening to either without sobbing, always remind me of my mum who died last year.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 02/12/2017 09:49

Flowers for all those who have experienced loss

ScaryMonstersAndSuperCreeps · 02/12/2017 09:52

TheSassyAssassin I saw AGBW three years ago in London sing Say Something live. No CA but still powerful. A lovely couple of guys!

Slipping through my fingers -ABBA
Castle on the Hill -Ed Sheeran

lidoshuffle · 02/12/2017 09:53

Both ancient: "Every time we say goodbye" by Ella Fitzgerald, and "The Special Years" by Val Doonican (!).

LagunaBubbles · 02/12/2017 09:58

Run by Snow Patrol, I'm generally ok till it gets to the line about "even though I cannot hear your voice, I'll be right beside you dear".....reminds me so much of losing my Mum and even though I'm not sure what I believe in I like to think she is still right beside me.

Sarahh2014 · 02/12/2017 09:58

Clown by Emily sande

Zhabr · 02/12/2017 09:59

also Mockingbird by Eminem

KeepServingTheDrinks · 02/12/2017 09:59

Flowers to all of you who've lost. I'm actually typing through tears at your posts.

I can cry very easily, but a song that does it for me whenever I hear it is Home Thoughts by Clifford T Ward. It's a TERRIBLE song - his voice is awful, it doesn't scan. Everything about it is awful. Except the lyrics, which I think are so personal and lovely.

If I'm in the mood, Fast Car by Tracy Chapman has me in floods. The lyrics are really poignant and I get a bit choked up over "we gotta make a decision, leave tonight or live and die this way"

Also -

Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
When We Were Young by Adele
Thank You For The Music by ABBA Blush
Still by the Commodores
All Too Well by Taylor Swift
Get Here by Oleta Adams (this one used to make me emotional anyway, but then my mum told me she can't listen to it as it reminds her of her sister who she lost in her twenties. I never met her, but the lyrics make me feel so terribly sad for both of them)
We Are Young by Fun
On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons (I know it's a really uplifting song but it makes me very nostalgic for quite possibly the happiest part of my life so far)
Under The Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Quite an emotional personal. Wink

I'm surprised no one has mentioned I wasn't expecting that by Jamie Lawson yet. I first heard it on the radio in te car. What starts as a cute lovesong becomes utterly heartbreaking in the last verse.

juddyrockingcloggs · 02/12/2017 10:07

Those were the days of our lives - Queen.

Every time.

ByAllMeansMoveAtAGlacialPace · 02/12/2017 10:09

Into my arms by Nick Cave and Fix You by Coldplay

juddyrockingcloggs · 02/12/2017 10:09

@Northernmum100

Snap! That's what iv just posted!

'When you can lay back and enjoy it through your kids' that line absolutely breaks my heart.

emwithme · 02/12/2017 10:09

Sunshine on Leith by the Proclaimers.

ByAllMeansMoveAtAGlacialPace · 02/12/2017 10:10

Oh and When we were young by Adele will have me snivelling in about 10 seconds

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 02/12/2017 10:13

Wherever you may go by The Calling. I heard it on the way to my mum's funeral and the words are poignant.

The bit in the most recent Band Aid video where they show the starving baby and then she comes in and is a healthy young woman. Always gets me- in fact I'm tearing up now!

stitchglitched · 02/12/2017 10:14

Save the Last Dance For Me by The Drifters, my Mum died when I was a baby and this was her very favourite song. I don't remember her so when I hear this I imagine her listening to it and end up crying for various reasons. Should probably stop listening to it really but it's like a compulsion.

minmooch · 02/12/2017 10:17

Marc Cohn - Walking in Memphis. When we would drive home from hospital after chemo for my son we would sing this as our power song.

Always look on the bright side of life - played at my sons funeral (he would have loved it)

I would walk 500 mile - the proclaimers. Just reminds me of my boy and what I would have done for him if I could have

I'm now crying just thinking of the songs and my boy.

Although they make me cry I need to listen to them to feel him. 18 years old when he died. Music is one of the biggest things that brings me close to him. I couldn't listen to any music for two years but now I do.

Uokbing · 02/12/2017 10:18

The song in Moana where she is facing up to the lava monster... 'I have crossed the horizon to find you etc'

We have the soundtrack on in the car and it always makes me cry!

TheSassyAssassin · 02/12/2017 10:26

@ScaryMonstersAndSuperCreeps I bet it was stunning live! Not that anyone would have heard through my sobs!

Sobbed at Adele concert last year to Someone Like You after painful break up. A couple of strangers gave me a mini bottle of wine because they decided I needed it more than they did Blush

ShowMeTheElf · 02/12/2017 10:31

Miley Cyrus: The Climb.. Mortified myself at a kids concert where they sang it.
Athlete: Wires. Never had a child in SCBU.
Rolf Harris: Two Little Boys. Even as a child my Mum would sing this laughing just to watch me collapse...now my own DC do it!

lastqueenofscotland · 02/12/2017 10:34

Broken oars by Nieves
Wells by Joshua hyslop

Mac12345 · 02/12/2017 10:43

Johnny Cash - Help Me
Athlete - Wires (even thinking about that one gives me a lump in my throat)
