Having my vagina touched in security, aibu to feel pissed?

Just back from a short break to New York. I brought my 7 mth old dd, who is being fed aptimil formula, so purchased the individual 7oz bottles to cut out having no proper sterilized water facility’s in the hotel we stayed in. On the out going flight I packed 6 bottles and 4 baby food pouches which were put through a scanning machine thingie in security to detect whatever bad things it is they are looking for, reassured it was perfectly safe for the baby food, no problems. On the way back we had a short stopover, flying from LaGuardia to Dulles to Dublin (home). I had 6 milks in carryon and went through security, which is understandably very tight, no complaints there. All bags were scanned and again baby food was flagged. It was explained to me, since the bottles of formula were 7oz and not smaller I had a choice to either have them confiscated or accept an invasive 4 minute pat down. Since the trip was expected to be at least 12 hours I had no choice but to accept the pat down as my baby would obviously be starving and needed to be fed without question. It was thoroughly explained to me exactly how long it would take and what would happen, my sensitive areas would be gone over with the backs of the female security officers hand, I accepted and the pat down began, I was totally fine with everything, slightly embarrassed as it was done in front of a lot of other travelers but wanted to get it over with as pushed for time. She checked hair , neck, arms, chest, back, breasts, stomach, backside, up and down the insides of my legs, both front and back, so four times, but each time touched my vagina. Now im not prudish etc and understand they need to be very comprehensive in their searches, but this made me so uncomfortable I felt like bursting out crying. My Dh was holding the baby and all our luggage and was looking at me concerned and I felt so embarrassed. Basically I am saying aibu in being angry and humiliated that in order to have formula food for a 7 mth old baby for a 12 hour travelling period I have to have my vagina searched 4 times and does this actually make any sense, security wise? Sorry this is actually quite long😳.

Exactly WunWun and if they did genuinely think that, they must be as thick as shit.

ittakes2 · 30/11/2017 16:08

Ok I'm as thick as shit then! Vagina is internal so yes I thought she was internally examed. I don't think that's the point though - she felt violated and I also felt violated when I was examined in that way at an airport too, so I completedly get it.

My Christ of course she wasn't internally examined in the middle of a fucking security lounge in front of hundreds of people Angry

WunWun · 30/11/2017 16:17

You genuinely thought security would internally search her vagina with the back of their hands in front of other travellers, ittakes2 ? You Really, honestly thought that?

WunWun · 30/11/2017 16:21

I'd love to see a demonstration of how someone could 'pat down' the inside of a vagina with the back of their hand.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 30/11/2017 16:21

How on earth did you think the OP had had a vaginal examination in front of many other travellers?

HOW??

PollyPerky · 30/11/2017 16:51

The SUBJECT line of this thread says 'touched my vagina in security'. That could mean an internal vaginal examination in private.

You have to read quite a long way down a long post to see that she meant hands over her crotch.

Half way down a very long post she said the officers had explained very clearly about the 'pat down'. She accepted this. It's only later in the post that she says she was touched in / on her vagina.

If this appears in the Daily Fail I will think the OP was a journo winding us all up.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 30/11/2017 16:55

So what. It’s obvious you he OP didn’t mean that as she explains in her FIRST post that the examination was done in front of many other travellers.

You’re getting on my pip with this now.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 30/11/2017 16:58

You he?? Ffs. That.

nooka · 30/11/2017 16:58

I have to admit I did wonder, mainly because otherwise what the OP describes sounds like a routine pat down, well explained, done by a woman with the back of her hand. Yes it's a bit intimate and embarrassing but she wasn't intimately searched or groped. It is worth knowing that harem pants might be comfy for flying but if you are selected for a pat down then they aren't great. Generally if you are wearing something baggy then they ask you to take it off before the pat down, if they can see the outline of your body through your clothing it makes an easier job for security, however with trousers that would have meant the OP would have had to go to a private room.

and yes some of security is more theatre than truly preventative, often it's your reaction during enhanced security checks that is the tell, but security processes thousands of people every day so there aren't the time or resources (or I suspect appetite) to do a really thorough job every time. Still when you fly it's worth being aware that you may get a pat down search and that will involve a woman's hand touching your genital area (and yes I have experienced this).

PrincessPlod · 30/11/2017 17:10

I'm trained to search and when doing legs you go right into the crotch/leg join but don't actually touch foof. When men it's the same obviously easier to hide things by nut sack. Let's be honest if you really wanted to hide something it would be plugged

user1495832265 · 30/11/2017 17:43

PrincessPlod are you in the US and specifically TSA trained?

raviolidreaming · 30/11/2017 17:51

How on earth did you think the OP had had a vaginal examination in front of many other travellers?

I would like to think that would be the most unanimous YANBU ever, but I doubt it. Probably just pages of people checking the OP didn't mean vulva and my links to actual official government rules on infant formula exemptions being ignored. 😏

I have no idea what you mean by foof. Do you mean sock fluff?

Mooncuplanding · 30/11/2017 17:55

I've had similar and ever since have thought how it would have been even worse if this had been conducted by a trans women.

Probs make me trans phobic but I'm not sure I care

Weebo · 30/11/2017 18:16

It means yer fanny, Rav.

EdmundCleverClogs · 30/11/2017 18:19

Do you mean sock fluff?

No, that’s floof, she’s talking about flaps.

raviolidreaming · 30/11/2017 18:22

Ah, ta. It's minge flaps around my parts.

raviolidreaming · 30/11/2017 18:29

Wonders if it would be too much to waft my beef curtains around to revive Weebo

raviolidreaming · 30/11/2017 18:29

Didn't mean to bold them. There really is no need for that.

OldWitch00 · 30/11/2017 18:32

I’ll sit down and read the whole thread with a cup of tea and hope I don’t spit it out.
Totally hilarious.

shakeyourcaboose · 30/11/2017 18:33

Love the turn thread has taken! Foof around this way too- glad the use of clunge has not taken off....

Weebo · 30/11/2017 18:35

Makes it seem like you are shouting about beef curtains. :o
