Yes, it’s another Meghan thread... AIBU to think that it’s really disappointing that she left her dog behind?

I’m not a royalist.. or otherwise! Was mildly interested in the news and always happy for a bank holiday (which we probably aren’t getting anyway Hmm)

But I have followed her for a little bit recently on social media and she seemed to really love her dogs which I always find a lovely trait in a person Grin

So one dog is here, and one dog ‘is with friends’ and was apparently refused access to the uk / was too old to transport... surely when a dog is old is when he needs his owner the most? I’ve lived through that devastating time of losing a dog and they really find comfort in being with their owners. (I think)

They are rescues which she seems to advocate and I think this really sends the wrong message that they are a bit disposable. She is marrying into arguably the most powerful family in the world and she can’t get her dog here?! Hmm

I’m sure people will disagree. But just reading that and looking at my 10 year old dog sleeping on my feet, I could never leave him behind.

Ahhh... this thread has moved on. Dogs = children. Got it.

Yeah ThankGod she's treating that dog awfully isn't she. Leaving it with the friends who look after the dog for probably 6 months of the year, the friends that know the dog and it's funny ways, the friends that play games and know its personality. She's an awful woman and that behaviour sums up the sort of person she is. Hmm

I think OP and some others on here are missing the point. not sure why I' bothering to explain it but there you go

It would've been easier for her to leave both dogs altogether but she didn't because she loves her dogs so there is obviously a reason why dog no. 2 couldn't come. Would it have been better if she'd dragged it over here just to please herself for selfish reasons OR is it better that she has the dog's welfare in mind?

I just wonder if we're going to have from now till next Spring pulling MM apart. It's very tedious.

demirose87 · 29/11/2017 07:15

She can't put her life on hold for a dog. A child yes but a dog, of course not.

Roussette · 29/11/2017 07:18

CaptainBrick you've nailed it.

To me there's some very selfish dog lovers on here and they're the ones who are bleating about 'a dog is for life' and all that crap, and saying how awful MM is. When I heard MM was leaving one behind I immediately thought... there will be a reason for that, she's obviously thinking about the dog's welfare. But then I tend to see the best in people unlike some.

CircleofWillis · 29/11/2017 07:19

AIBU to think Meghan must be really disappointed to have her dog’s entry to the UK refused?

There, I fixed your title for you OP. As a fellow dog lover I agree and think she must be grieving. Good thing people are not twisting it in another attempt to find a stick to beat her with.

Why not throw that stick for your own dogs instead OP and think how lucky you are to be able to have them with you.

Veterinari · 29/11/2017 07:31

I’d love to know the reason why dog number 2 couldn't come?

There’s certainly no sensible import reason. Rabies vaccine, passport, job done.

It’s very straightforward.

Bubbleyagain · 29/11/2017 07:34

If it's old it wouldn't necessarily be able to cope with the journey air travel can be very stressful on dogs.

CosmicCanary · 29/11/2017 07:38

I havent RTT but can guess lots of "the dog should come first" Hmm

My understanding is that tbe dog is very old and the journy would be stressful anx could cause serios issues. I would not put a dog through that.

The dog will be left in the care of people it knows and will continue to lead a happy life.
MM is hardly abandoning it the woods is she.

Lweji · 29/11/2017 07:40

I'd love to know the reasons for many things, but, for the most part, they're none of my business.

LoafEater · 29/11/2017 07:50

A future of luxury, privilege and ease or staying with my old canine. Bet that was a tough one for her.

Battleax · 29/11/2017 07:51

Reading instead of guessing works better.

PramWanker · 29/11/2017 08:18

Trying to decide whether this thread is more or less pathetic than the one about the timing of the wedding being unfair to Kate. It's a tough one. I'm genuinely torn.

PurplePillowCase · 29/11/2017 08:25

wouldn't a dog brought in from the us go into quarantine?

NamasteNiki · 29/11/2017 08:26

Some people speak shit and are as appealing as carrion...

Yes like you sheldonesque. You described yourself there.

Lots of love GrinGrin

Is mn populated by batshit crazy people these days?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 29/11/2017 08:36

I think you all massively underestimate what the royals etc are capable of... they could’ve got that dog here with everyone none the wiser.

As you said, she's covered her Instagram in photos of the dog. There's no way that dog could appear at Kensington Palace without questions being asked about where it appeared from.

I hope she did find a good home for the dog; he or she deserves that at least! And I expect she'll visit.

PramWanker · 29/11/2017 08:40

A number of people made a similar point in the relevant thread namasteniki.

SoupDragon · 29/11/2017 08:47

She chose stability and familiarity for her dog

Absolutely!

Sometimes what is best for a particular dog is not what others think. What is best for a particular dog might be rehoming with people they are happy and comfortable with.

We once rehomed our cats with a neighbour when we moved - the cats were rescued cats and skittish and hated the children. They had virtually moved in with the neighbour's anyway. We loved them and therefore did what was best for them, not what was best for us.

Only Meghan knows what was best for her dog. No one on this thread has a clue as to why the decision was made to leave him behind.

ScrabbleFiend · 29/11/2017 08:55

I'm glad she's doing the sensible thing here. I work in a vets and people who insist on shipping elderly animals half way round the world are IMO selfish. It's very stressful for the animals and honestly they're not that loyal, they'll be happy with anyone who cares for them and feeds them.

scaryteacher · 29/11/2017 09:03

Glacinda www.pettravel.com/passports_cruise_ships.cfm might answer your question.

There is enough money there to hire a private jet and have the dog in the cabin. From Toronto to Greenland, then on to Stornoway, then down to London perhaps. Short hops, and presumably arrangements can be made for the dog to be walked on the tarmac at each stop.

Lweji · 29/11/2017 09:32

Fuck kate.

That's William's job.

areyoubeingserviced · 29/11/2017 09:33

I haven’t read the whole thread, just the first page.
However, I must say that this is one of the most stupid threads I have ever read. That’s all

Lweji · 29/11/2017 09:37

There is enough money there to hire a private jet and have the dog in the cabin

And then people would be posting about what a waste of money it was. Grin

Whatever she (or anyone) does will be slated.

ItsNachoCheese · 29/11/2017 09:44

Its not fair to make an elderly possibly unwell dog endure a transatlantic flight and potential quarrantine time. I think she has done the right thing leaving the dog with someone she trusts and the dog knows well. It must be sad for her leaving one of her dogs behind but she is thinking of its best interests

piggleiggle83949 · 29/11/2017 09:47

As for making up shit about the Royal family's power and cottage sizes you deluded dufus you've actually made me laugh out loud.
