To think it's unfair on HRH Catherine

It's been on my mind that a spring wedding is one way to make sure all eyes are on you and not Catherine. As depending on the date chosen she'll either be extremely heavily pregnant or possibly postpartum, she's never really rushed to the celeb demands of having your pre-pregnancy body in 4 weeks. If she has HG that lasts till term she really won't enjoy the day, I remember one heavily pregnant Mum when I got married going home in the end to rest she was struggling that much.

It'll be a dilemma for William as he'll want to celebrate the day, as will Catherine. If she's heavily pregnant or post partum he got really overly drink, I think I'm right in thinking Catherine BF so she can't drink and needs somewhere private to feed. (Plus possibly an outfit that allows for ease of feeding)

I'm wondering if there's already an announcement due for once their married, that Harry & Meghan are expecting, thus the 4/5 month turn around if not quicker, going by my interpretations of Spring. It seems rather rushed.

I understand given Meghan's age it's now or never, I just feel it's a bit harsh on Catherine, as in any scenario she'll not overly get to celebrate the day. She's always been close to Harry, so I assume she'd want to take part and have a time similar to her wedding, partying till the small hours.

A summer wedding would give Catherine & William the luxury of not worrying if baby will arrive imminently, or that Catherine will be postpartum, knackered and really not feel like a part of the day.

I know it's Harry & Meghan's big day, but as I've said he's always been close to his brother and SIL. I honestly thought any announcement would be with the third pregnancy in mind.

"Will Meghan(baldy definitely punching above his weight) have to do the citizen test?"

I think she will. The switch of religious denomination is going to happen before the wedding, but there's no word on date for acquiring British citizenship. So unless/until someone states she isn't going through the normal procedures, then I think we have to assume that she is. He's certainly rich enough to sponsor a spouse visa (the amount left to him under his mother's will surely can't all be spent already).

There are circumstances under which you can change from tourist (or waived?) visa to fiancée - would these apply to her?

Is there any wriggle room within the rules to truncate normal typical timeframes?

I suspect she'd get a private citizenship ceremony though. Perhaps done by HMQ?

Lweji · 29/11/2017 07:44

Worst case, there will be a battalion of nosy MNs conducting interviews to verify that they're really married.

"So, how often do you have sex?"
"What does he/she think of his/her SIL?"

I do wonder how the DoW will cope with this. I'm guessing he's on a spa retreat to try and lower his blood pressure.

'I thought naked billiards was bad, but he's gone and found a wife ticking every box one should try to avoid.'

Is HRH Harry trying to tell the Royals something not so covertly.

I didn't expect the post to blow up like this, it was a wandering thought, the kind of thing you'd see on AIBU.

'BIL due to wed either a month before or after my due date - how do I cope?'

Surely others have imagined potential posts if it was someone else's BIL getting married.

I'd send a letter offering my support, but I'm sure Mummy & others will be there to offer comfort Grin

Harry is extremely close to Philip as is William, so I'm sure he will manage just fine Wink

Colonel I'm sorry to have offended, HRH the Duchess of Cambridge it is. Totally forgot etiquette and manners. Hope you'll forgive me.

FFS. Kate Middleton is fine too. What century is this?

lionguard · 29/11/2017 08:50

No way would Philip have an issue with this.

I bet he loves a pretty gel in slacks. Always has :)

Battleax · 29/11/2017 08:51

No way would Philip have an issue with this.

He doesn't need an "issue" to drop clangers. He's a gaffe factory Smile

Great post zooey

I think people project their own experiences and forget that the royals lives are about as far removed from ours as could be possible

Hulababy · 29/11/2017 10:46

Does she have to become a British citizen? Is that one of the rules of marrying into the RF? Or can she just remain American, but living in the UK with her British husband.

Lweji · 29/11/2017 10:49

Who's DoW?
I can think of PoW or DoE.

RoseWhiteTips · 29/11/2017 10:51

It’s Meghan - not Megan.

SoupDragon · 29/11/2017 10:55

Will Meghan have to do the citizen test?

Google says she will become a citizen properly, it will take a number of years and they will not be cutting corners.

WitchesHatRim · 29/11/2017 11:01

I would imagine that yes she does have to, just like she is being baptised and confirmed.

BarbaraofSevillle · 29/11/2017 11:02

Who's DoW

Well there is a Duke of Westminster, and possibly a Duke of Windsor, but I assume they meant Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, especially as a few others started talking about Philip in the following posts.

Battleax · 29/11/2017 11:05

and possibly a Duke of Windsor,

He's been dead rather a long time and not really in a position to be snotty about American divorcees in the first place.

BarbaraofSevillle · 29/11/2017 11:12

Grin Have any of the papers done a predictable comparison of Mrs Simpson and Ms Markle yet?

I wonder what titles they will have when the marry, the Duke and Duchess/Count and Countess of ?

Sussex is the forerunner, apparently.

I don't know why don't give the lesser Royals actual jobs like Governor of somewhere in the Commonwealth. I think these two are going to need occupying.

FannyWincham · 29/11/2017 11:24

Edward is the Earl of Wessex, not a duke. He will inherit the title of Duke of Edinburgh when his father dies.

VanillaSugar · 29/11/2017 12:13

Harry will be the Duke of Hazzard.

I think Kate/Catherine whoever will be more than happy to take a back seat with the baby and just enjoy the wedding - who knew it didn't all have to be a drama Hmm

HadronCollider · 29/11/2017 12:41

Of course she should foot the bill granny you're not being vindictive at all!! You've been the victim in all this, and 40 years of suffering gives you martyrdom status. This is all about you and your unacknowledged 40 year old DS. I'd take a leaf from Markles book and demand a new coat as well if I were you, I mean its the least she can do after all this time. You shouldn't have to ask. The selfishness of people!
