To think it's unfair on HRH Catherine

It's been on my mind that a spring wedding is one way to make sure all eyes are on you and not Catherine. As depending on the date chosen she'll either be extremely heavily pregnant or possibly postpartum, she's never really rushed to the celeb demands of having your pre-pregnancy body in 4 weeks. If she has HG that lasts till term she really won't enjoy the day, I remember one heavily pregnant Mum when I got married going home in the end to rest she was struggling that much.

It'll be a dilemma for William as he'll want to celebrate the day, as will Catherine. If she's heavily pregnant or post partum he got really overly drink, I think I'm right in thinking Catherine BF so she can't drink and needs somewhere private to feed. (Plus possibly an outfit that allows for ease of feeding)

I'm wondering if there's already an announcement due for once their married, that Harry & Meghan are expecting, thus the 4/5 month turn around if not quicker, going by my interpretations of Spring. It seems rather rushed.

I understand given Meghan's age it's now or never, I just feel it's a bit harsh on Catherine, as in any scenario she'll not overly get to celebrate the day. She's always been close to Harry, so I assume she'd want to take part and have a time similar to her wedding, partying till the small hours.

A summer wedding would give Catherine & William the luxury of not worrying if baby will arrive imminently, or that Catherine will be postpartum, knackered and really not feel like a part of the day.

I know it's Harry & Meghan's big day, but as I've said he's always been close to his brother and SIL. I honestly thought any announcement would be with the third pregnancy in mind.

It's a bit different with the royal family, rather than your gran though, as the queen is the defender of the faith. I don't think she should be, in this day and age, but that's another question. It doesn't make it easy for someone marrying her grandson to go "nah- not bothered" on the subject of religion, though. As defender of the faith I don't think she should of people being baptized if they don't believe. As I said maybe she had a road to Damascus moment as soon as he proposed and felt the need to be baptized but if not I think it is insulting to members of the church who do believe. I'm not C of E so not my business but I hate it in my church, Catholic, and I hate it even more when after a few lessons they start telling you where you are going wrong with the religion you have grown up with.

Littlehenrylee · 28/11/2017 20:57

I know someone who was a royal bridesmaid.

Wasn't Pippa the bridesmaid. I'm sure she knew exactly what was expected of her and so far, doing her duty as a bridesmaid, has served her very well indeed.

SymphonyofShadows · 28/11/2017 20:58

I didn't say it was Kate's bridesmaid

HadronCollider · 28/11/2017 21:05

Grin GrinDefinitely granny and a new pair of shoes to match!

CoolCarrie · 28/11/2017 21:38

The Church of England is the Tory party at prayer, invented by a horrible man so he could marry his second wife,so he could kill those who disagreed with him and so he could rob and destroy many beautiful buildings! Queenie being defender of the faith makes me laugh T the rules don't apply to them, Meghan's paperwork for her status in the U.K. will have been in the post yesterday!

grannytomine · 28/11/2017 21:41

HadronCollider you are right but should I have to pay all this, I mean it is her fault so shouldn't she pay? I don't want to be vindictive but 40 years of suffering isn't a small thing is it.

JonSnowsWife · 28/11/2017 22:32

When I heard earlier that she'll be going for uk citizenship I wondered if she'd end up going through the same shit as the rest of them. (I'm not being ignorant - I'm just thinking of a friend of ours who's been living and working here longer than I've been alive and was still treated fucking appallingly by the HO). Somehow I don't think she will experience the red tape when going for it.

JonSnowsWife · 28/11/2017 22:36

How come, when she is a divorcee they can marry in a Church of England church?

The Church of England have been marrying divorcees since 2002. It's not news.
Furthermore, a church that was pretty much founded so King Henry VIII could worm his way out of a marriage to legally get his leg over another doesn't hold too highly in my regards for valued opinion anyway.

ZooeyAndFranny · 28/11/2017 22:55

Op are you on glue?

ZooeyAndFranny · 28/11/2017 23:02

The royal family are probably trying to get this in quick before Duke of Edinburgh dies. He is looking a bit frail.
I don't think how much champagne pregnant women / breastfeeeding women can drink comes into it.

Doobigetta · 28/11/2017 23:19

They'll have had Wedding Plan A- March, Wedding Plan B- May etc going for months. I bet poor old Meghan won't even get to pick the colour of her bridesmaids' dresses, it'll have been decided by some civil service working group ages ago.
I'd love it if they went child-free though, imagine the tantrums.

Battleax · 28/11/2017 23:58

They're probably trying to work out where they can stash him before he says something awkward. He'll probably be sent for a "routine operation" on the first of May.

Rainbowandraindrops67 · 29/11/2017 00:02

I imagined Philip talking to the queen in private after they knew harry was serious - good god we always knew Harry was a rebel but a divorced, 36 year old, American, actress, commoner, of questionable religion and mixed Heritage’!

Littlehenrylee · 29/11/2017 00:07

How do people even know KM breastfeeds. She can say whatever she does whatever she likes behind palace walls can't she? Or not say anything at all and avoid any talk about it such as confirming/denying she is a smoker.

I'd say MM might have a traditional wedding because she probably likes the quaint British ways (for now!).

GriefLeavesItsMark · 29/11/2017 00:24

Maybe she has a wet nurse? Queen Victoria had one that became a mass murderer. Will Meghan(baldy definitely punching above his weight) have to do the citizen test?

God, another five months of this drivel.

Battleax · 29/11/2017 00:25

Queen Victoria had one that became a mass murderer.

Yes, that was a really sad story wasn't it? I must read that again.

FizzyCherry · 29/11/2017 00:37

Maybe it’s not actually all about her for a change?

Battleax · 29/11/2017 00:39

Queen Victoria Fizzy? Confused

FizzyCherry · 29/11/2017 00:48

No, I was referring to the OP. Maybe expecting someone to plan their wedding around when the groom’s brother’s wife is going to look her best is a teensy bit unreasonable.
Maybe this time it’s not actually about Kate. I know, I was amazed too, but it’s feasible.

FlyMaybe · 29/11/2017 00:51

Is that you Ma'am?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 29/11/2017 06:46

Why is Megan punching above her weight? She had a job and s life before marrying into the RF, which cannot be said about Kate.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 29/11/2017 06:47

oh sorry, misread the post.

ZooeyAndFranny · 29/11/2017 07:14

OP - just imagine the day of the wedding:

Kate is awoken by a servant bribing a breakfast tray with a glass of organic apple juice, two soft boiled eggs, wholemeal toast (or exactly what KM prefers for breakfast). And if KM feels slightly ill due to HG, a servante will remove that tray and replace it with a special tisane to settle her stomach. A servant removed the trays and fine bone china.

When KM is ready to get up, she walks into her private bathroom where a servant has run a bath with 25 droplets of Jo Malone essential oils, not more, because KM finds it overpowering if there are 26 drops.

In the distance, KM can hear her adored children being dressed by the nanny. She hears them going for breakfast, safe in the knowledge that their nanny is caring for them.

After her bath, a world class make up artist arrived to make her up, ditto a hair stylist. She sits in a robe and at this point the nanny brings the children in to say good morning. The children are perfectly dressed in perfectly pressed outfits and sit at her feet playing nicely with their Lego. When it is time for them to go, a servent removes all the toys.

When KM gets dressed it is into a bespoke Alexander McQueen frock.

When she is ready, she walks downstairs to where a driver awaits her in a new luxury car.

And you feel sorry for this woman? And you are worrying about her not being able to neck more than one glass of Champagne?

RJnomore1 · 29/11/2017 07:19

I did wonder if word of this being likely contributed to the retiral of the duke of Edinburgh. He does have a way of putting his foot in it and the possibilities with this one are endless...

meditrina · 29/11/2017 07:31

"And if KM feels slightly ill due to HG, a servante will remove that tray and replace it with a special tisane to settle her stomach"

Not on to minimise HG like this.
