To think my DP is disgusting

Just had a row with DP because he doesn’t brush his teeth. He says he forgets and can go for days. I think it’s bloody disgusting & his teeth are in a state and there is no excuse at all for poor dental hygiene. Aibu

OP posts:
Jux · 24/11/2017 00:15

That’s horrid.

Does he know that heart problems have been very strongly correlated with poor dental hygiene?

PeiPeiPing · 24/11/2017 00:19

Sorry Belle, but why are you WITH him? Confused

Finsmum86 · 24/11/2017 00:21

How fucking awful that people are actually asking OP to post a picture of his teeth. What for? To all laugh? I agree it's not hygienic etc but as OP said it's a recent thing, the first thing I would feel if it was my DP would be concern. I would think is he depressed, does he have an issue where it he is in pain etc. Not post on Mumsnetbro everyone can voice how vile he is. Maybe I am being insensitive as I have had periods of depression where self care is the first thing to give, I don't know.

Finsmum86 · 24/11/2017 00:22

Obviously that is meant to be Mumsnet so, not Mumsnetbro

FeelingAggrieved · 24/11/2017 00:27

Yanbu. Gross.

Domani · 24/11/2017 00:37

Could he be on the spectrum? My son is and takes a lot of persuading to brush his teeth.

blueskydreams · 24/11/2017 02:01

that is pretty rank and no mistake, even worse not caring about you being subjected to foul breath, I would stand well away from him at all times

Leilaniii · 24/11/2017 02:04

Mumsnetbro 🤣

You've been spending too much time on those Trans threads!

Leilaniii · 24/11/2017 02:06

Does he care that you won't sleep with him? Could he use this as an excuse to have an affair not that anyone else would want him?

whenthestarsturnblue · 24/11/2017 02:22

I do think that maybe a sign of depression. Did he always do it before, why has he stopped now? There are some awful set of responses on here, ('disgusting, leave him etc.). If he can't be bothered or forgets then something isn't right with him and forget about the teeth and approach from a different angle. I can't believe how quick people are to write off others here. Shit about laundry not being done correctly, LTB, doesn't wash his teeth LTB, an hour late, LTB; It's a classic symptom, talk to him without mentioning his teeth. He is your person, find out what is going on.

BelleandBeast · 24/11/2017 20:59

I used to love him. Its all about the children now. I don't know to get out without them hating me for breaking up family life. It is desperate, the hygiene thing is the least of the issues, to be honest.

ILoveMillhousesDad · 24/11/2017 21:05

My husband looks like he has cottage cheese on his teeth most days

Whoever wrote that, how. The. Fuck. Can you share a house let alone a bed with this person????? 😵😰😱

Kitsharrington · 24/11/2017 21:05

That's mank.

expatinscotland · 24/11/2017 21:07

This thread turned my stomach.

dingdongdigeridoo · 24/11/2017 21:08

My first thought was depression too. Had an ex who had bloody awful teeth. He had a lot of mental health issues and would often skip showers and wear dirty clothes when he was at his lowest.

Any other signs of depression OP? Is he sleeping and eating OK? Does he generally take care of himself.

Braceface · 24/11/2017 21:10

Anyone else reading this now have an overwhelming to clean their teeth right now?!!!

CakeNinja · 24/11/2017 21:22

Fucking hell, I can be pretty slovenly on a Sunday and not have a shower or bath until the evening but I could not cope with having furry teeth Shock
Dp has impeccably hygiene, in 15 years he has probably not had a shower for 3 of those days, when he was bedridden with what we think was flu.
Someone I know goes out with a bloke who stays at her house from Friday to Monday without changing his boxers or socks. Unsurprisingly, he also doesn't shower or brush his teeth in that time.
He's absolutely grim and clearly doesn't wash his clothes either, he always smells stale and musty.
Shockingly, she says they aren't intimate Hmm

ProperLavs · 24/11/2017 21:24

I've got one of those snazzy toothbrushes that times you and scores you via a wall display.

Despite just brushing my teeth for 4 minutes, I now want to do them again.

Again another 'my standards are lamentably low' thread. Didn't we just have one the other day about a skanky bloke?

Balaboosteh · 27/11/2017 07:15

I actually think this is an aggressive thing to do. He is making himself repellent to you. He is showing you an extreme lack of consideration. I take this as a sign of a troubled relationship, sorry. I hope he listens soon.

blueskydreams · 27/11/2017 10:38

Aggressive or passive aggressive

Balaboosteh · 27/11/2017 17:52

Yeah passive aggressive.
