Just had a row with DP because he doesn’t brush his teeth. He says he forgets and can go for days. I think it’s bloody disgusting & his teeth are in a state and there is no excuse at all for poor dental hygiene. Aibu

Oh no. My ex never cleaned his teeth despite my insistence, buying expensive toothbrushes for him. It was a good part of us breaking up as I gradually became completely turned off. He lost all his teeth eventually .

My DP is severely depressed as a result of being made redundant/unemployed. He is also suffering from stress-related insomnia, so either comes to bed and tosses and turns pretty much until I get up for work, or stays up half the night waiting to feel tired - on those nights he often “forgets” to brush his teeth. I just can’t get my head round it - I couldn’t go to bed without brushing my teeth! However, his teeth are in perfect nick, per a recent checkup, whereas I am literally grinding mine out of my head with stress and have had more dental treatment in the last six months than my entire life.

If he let go of himself maybe there is a bigger underlying problem? Maybe he want to distance himself by doing this?

My DP does this, sometimes his breath stinks so bad I have to say ' go and brush your teeth'.

With that and and the continual athletes foot, and penis fungus, we never kiss or shag.

And these threads remind me why I’m 8 years single and will continue to be so til the day I die.

A woman I used to be friends with just brushed her teeth once a day and her breath stank so much I was gagging nearly when she spoke to me. She had no end of dental problems.

I find it hard to believe that someone would have foul breath and 'no end of dental problems' if they brushed their teeth once a day. Twice is better, but once a day is OK.

My dad had awful teeth, still does, and his breath is just vile, and you can literally smell it in the room long after he has gone. We used to play an old Benny Hill song whenever he walked into the room, look up the Gingivitis kid!

Do you think he doesn't care because he see's you have gone off him, and maybe he's now very down on himself and depressed? Only you know, has he always been like this?? I actually feel quite sorry for someone who is knowingly causing themselves to look bad, smell bad, and even harm their own health. xxx

Btw, no not all men are like this, my Essex bloke has the most gorgeous teeth, showers twice a day and always smells gorgeous of White Musk from the Body Shop. That's as far as it goes though, loads of his mates are into moisturiser and all that crap and there's no way my fella would do all that lol. x
