Just this really. Santa is a vulgar Americanism.

What was wrong with father Christmas ffs.

pax

Apparently one of the other wise men made a rather cutting remark about the towels not having a high enough thread count...therefore being vulgar

It was a big thing at the time Sad

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 17/11/2017 21:23

christina

Well with santa being written out of the history of the nativity i can understand that

But i am flummoxed as to the lack of donkey

Thats how Mary got there you see...no Uber back then

paxillin · 17/11/2017 21:24

Poor Father Christmas. It is heartwarming to see some people fighting his corner so valiantly.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 17/11/2017 21:24

I wonder how often he washed the towels

Christinayangstwistedsista · 17/11/2017 21:26

Actually I am upper class, so it is Papa Christmas here

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 17/11/2017 21:28

Do stables have chimneys

Thats what's concerning me

paxillin · 17/11/2017 21:30

Do Santa and FC have a sort of job share?

PorklessPie · 17/11/2017 21:31

West wales here and it was always Father Christmas.

Xeneth88 · 17/11/2017 21:38

Anyone who has enough time to clench their arse about what a made up gift bringer is called, needs so badly to get out more. Santa/Father Christmas does it matter? No. Let people call it what they wish, smile, move on, get over yourself and enjoy your Christmas. Most people I know interchange between the two in general day to day life. I can't understand how anyone can get worked up enough to post a thread over such a non issue. Call him cuntaclaus if you wish. It's a fairy tale.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 17/11/2017 21:38

In Scotland, it's pronounced "Santacloz".

Christinayangstwistedsista · 17/11/2017 21:41

Cuunnntttaclaus is coming to town, nope, doesn't quite have same ring to it

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 17/11/2017 21:42
Shock

You are so not getting anything in your stocking this year

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 17/11/2017 21:44

It's Santa where I come from. Nobody said Father Christmas. And where I live now, baby Jesus brings the pressies. I imagine he has lumps of coal for everyone who gets uptight and snooty about Christmas.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 17/11/2017 21:44

Ohhhh yes I will

Wilburissomepig · 17/11/2017 21:46

Oh dear god, I swear this thread is fucking hilarious. The drama! Grin

Starlighter · 17/11/2017 21:49

Interesting thread! I’ve always said Father Christmas and I did think Santa was an Americanism and I chastised my DH for saying Santa. Looks like I’m wrong... Confused

LinaLaaamont · 17/11/2017 21:54

I’m 41 and have never heard anyone say Father Christmas in real life, apart from my English boss in the 90s.
I’m from Glasgow and everyone I know says Santa.

CAAKE · 17/11/2017 21:57

Santa on a stick, it’s as easy as reading the fecking Wikipedia page:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Father_Christmas

Xeneth88 · 17/11/2017 21:59

Oh dear god, I swear this thread is fucking hilarious. The drama!

Isn't it just! Grown adults getting all het up about a story characters name. Grin It's like watching 6 year olds.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 17/11/2017 22:00

Why are people telling others off for saying Santa? It’s not like they’re calling him Fuckface McBeardy. Get a grip.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 17/11/2017 22:01

The Enid Blyton book of Christmas stories at my right side calls him Santa.

Enid Blyton - that vulgar American.

RebelRogue · 17/11/2017 22:02

Mos Craciun Grin

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 17/11/2017 22:04

Dear Fuckface McBeardy,

I've been very good, please bring me a pony.

Kind regards,

Pelvic.

Yup, works for me! Xmas Grin

Wilburissomepig · 17/11/2017 22:10

Not much about Mumsnet makes DH laugh, but this ^^ really did. GrinGrinGrin

OP I called you a knob earlier and I apologise, this thread is fucking gold.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 17/11/2017 22:11

Oh Pelvic

I don't think you are getting a pony
