Why are the media horrified and amazed George bush Sr has had allegations of sexual assault made when we have a self confessed and proud sex offender in charge of the USA?

Clearly it's been approved of by the current president. So other men do it too, how can that be more newsworthy.
Right now the only men that could shock me would be dh, dad and fil.

To be fair to George Bush Snr are the allegations against him not since he became a very old man. It may be that he is suffering from dementia and is no longer capable of acting in an appropriate fashion.

Yes, I am rather puzzled by all the wide-eyed amazement recently about Weinstein, Hollywood in general, well-known actor/s, generally men in power turning out to be entitled pricks and generally sexually predatory??

It is outrageous that such behaviour is so tolerated (are we seeing a turning of the tide? - I live in cautious hope), but it is hardly surprising.

The allegations also concern his periods in office.
Stealth I do wonder if it's seen as different because it's expected of Trump but not Bush. Stupid but then many of them voted for Trump!

GHWB was considered a gentleman president. He was a WWII hero but otherwise a safe pair of hands. And boring. Now we see a fragile old man. The picture doesn't fit together very well.

Trump was a recognised toe-rag when elected, we'll never expect better of him. Whereas GHWB was supposed to be a decent if dim & ineffectual guy.

That makes sense. I suppose people would be shocked to learn that trump was a decent man.

There are also allegations by 16 women that Trump assaulted them (I think one was 13 years old at the time). No convictions in court; a lot of the allegations haven't been tested in court.
