The other day DD asked me if the Queen shops at IKEA.
I'm sitting at and IKEA desk drinking from IKEA glasses. everything's bloody IKEA.
Is there anyone who has NO IKEA at all?
No I don't work for them!

I live in an ikea free zone. Infact I have only been in the shop once in my life and that was over 25 years ago and I still have no wish to go back.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 13/11/2017 23:44

None here. Never been in an ikea. My house is a mess though, ikea would definitely be an improvement.

Littledrummergirl · 13/11/2017 23:44

None here, never been to a store as from what I've heard its my idea of hell.
I've seen a catalogue and wasn't impressed.

WonderLime · 13/11/2017 23:45

I love IKEA but I actually don’t have much from there as my car is far, far too small and delivery is too expensive IMO.

Thingywhatsit · 13/11/2017 23:47

I have to get on a plane to get to the nearest Ikea!

However every single room in my 3 bed house has Ikea furniture in it! I quite like Ikea and I have a kallax obsession! I want more but running out of places to put it!

Teddy1970 · 13/11/2017 23:47

Nothing......zilcho

Gubbins · 13/11/2017 23:50

Distance is no excuse. Travelling in Africa, 5000km from the nearest store, every restaurant had an antilop high chair and several hotels had Ikea bedspreads.

Howyoualldoworkme · 13/11/2017 23:52

I don't have anything from Ikea either. I've only been there once and bought a present for a friend and a sieve that broke.
I found it very confusing as well Grin

CotswoldStrife · 13/11/2017 23:57

I like the marketplace and the cheap tea lights, but we have no furniture - we did buy some storage for DD's room within the last couple of years and a heart-shaped wall light for her room.

The lack of Ikea furniture was (verbally, out loud) appreciated by our last set of removal men.

I don't have any JL furniture either.

NotTheQueen · 13/11/2017 23:58

We live 2.1 miles from IKEA and as soon as we brought a do upper, everyone said our home would be full of IKEA. They're half right... the vanity units in two bathrooms are from IKEA, as is the daybed and desk in the box room and kitchen table. Bedroom furniture in two other rooms, dining room, living room etc are not IKEA, and apart from 4 mugs and a garlic crusher, we're winning the fight against the IKEA takeover.

MistressDeeCee · 14/11/2017 00:00

I don't have a single IKEA thing in my home. I've not been to IKEA in donkeys years. But I'm going there before Christmas with OH to spend the day browsing leisurely then hopefully buying. I am ridiculously excited

MrsFionaCharming · 14/11/2017 00:01

Me!

All our furniture is second hand, a mix of British Heart Foundation and gum tree.

I dream of affording IKEA!

Sgtmajormummy · 14/11/2017 00:04

The 3 Billy bookcases we bought 15? years ago went from lounge to study or bedroom and are now in the garage doing a good job.
In the house there's a bathroom cabinet that's done 3 house moves, a standard lamp and somewhere one of those white riser stools for toddlers (you know the one I mean!).

I have a load of bedding and kitchen stuff from IKEA, though. Including 18(!) of those POKAL tumblers to replace the entire jumble of mis-matched ones I had before- aaaah!

MrsOverTheRoad · 14/11/2017 00:05

Mine is Ikea free because I only buy second-hand furniture. I've got some lovely pieces, mostly pre 1940...some Edwardian.

ineedaholidaynow · 14/11/2017 00:17

No IKEA in our house and I have never been to one.

However, one is being built near us so may venture in to it once it is finished. We need to replace quite a bit of furniture so may be asking for recommendations in the near future.

LemonysSnicket · 14/11/2017 00:18

Well no, likes media console, table, chairs, desk , bed .... It's affordable

GabsAlot · 14/11/2017 00:22

nope nothing ikea here

LifeofClimb · 14/11/2017 00:27

Nope. Mostly second hand furniture, picked up some bargains, even better than ikea prices but solid wood (no MDF).

washingmachinefastwash · 14/11/2017 00:28

I only have a couple of bits from ikea in my house. I prefer a good rummage in a charity shop for different pieces of furniture. I buy my mugs from b and m.

My friends whole house is Ikea, it’s lovely, but not to my taste.

BertieBotts · 14/11/2017 00:35

My mum. Although actually she might have something now.

I freaking love ikea. Best by far for the price, unless you're lucky second hand. No, it's neither high art nor amazing quality but it is normally cheaper AND better than other budget friendly options.

cannotmakemymindup · 14/11/2017 00:43

Sorry no, definitely not Ikea free. Love that place! Furniture so far has lasted well with a few moves, I have a giant red rug thats lasted great to now in dd bedroom.
I think our house is 50% ikea furniture, then vintage/antique/retro (because of my sisters business). I also like how you can repurpose an item to another job - cheap TV stand makes great shoe rack for children. I'm not worrying about it getting a lovely one destroyed. Coffee table? Perfect height as a childs table.
That place makes me way happier then it should!!

GrockleBocs · 14/11/2017 00:43

MIL! Her house is pretty much of its (properly old) period and the bedside table DH made in the 80s is her newest furniture. My parents are the same age but have a Billy habit.

anothernetter · 14/11/2017 00:46

I was about to say yes but then realised that's not actually true!

Rach5l · 14/11/2017 00:46

My parents 🤷🏼‍♀️

Orangebird69 · 14/11/2017 00:49

Love a bit of ikea. Cushions, bedding, towels, some of their kitchen stuff. And my mattress from ikea is the best mattress I've ever had. It's 5yo now though and they've discontinued it. I'm dreading having to replace it.

I think it's a great place to look round I'd you trying to maximise the layout of of small rooms too. Gives some grest ideas.
