I always think the same of Chris Wallace as well. They are measured, sensible and fact based, which makes them stick out like a sore thumb on Fox.

Woah.

That story about the Koch brothers wanting to buy media company Time Inc...

They're also "launch partners" of Axios, a new online media outlet which pedals Washington gossip and, I think, corporate messages from its friends. We cite it here a bit, because "sources close to"Grin some White House people and 45-cronies regularly use it as a platform.

Speaking of Chris Wallace, him interviewing Trump in 2015:

Possibly the last time he admitted he didn't know something.
He wouldn't agree to this interview now, I don't think.

The only good thing about Al Franken is that he didn't try to deny or minimise it.
Still... I'm sure (or hopeful) that more men haven't forced themselves on women than those who have.

I do wonder if there's any man in the public eye who is clean.

If Colbert is accused too, then I'll just give up on men.

NEWS: Senate Judiciary says KUSHNER received & forwarded docs concerning a “Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite" last year, and was copied on campaign officials' communications with Sergei Millian

uk.businessinsider.com/jared-kushner-emails-russia-backdoor-feinstein-grassley-2017-11?r=US&IR=T

President Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner forwarded emails concerning a "Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite" to Trump campaign officials and failed to produce those emails to the Senate Judiciary Committee, according to a letter the senators sent Kushner's lawyer on Thursday.

Kushner also failed to produce emails on which he was copied involving communication with WikiLeaks, and with the Belarusan-American businessman Sergei Millian, the senators said. Millian most recently headed a group called the Russian-American Chamber of Commerce.

"There are several documents that are known to exist but were not included in your production," Senators Chuck Grassley and Dianne Feinstein wrote to Kushner.

They continued:

"For example, other parties have produced September 2016 email communications to Mr. Kushner concerning WikiLeaks, which Mr. Kushner then forwarded to another campaign official. Such documents should have been produced in response to the third request but were not. Likewise, other parties have produced documents concerning a "Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite" which Mr. Kushner also forwarded. And still others have produced communications with Sergei Millian, copied to Mr. Kushner. Again, these do not appear in Mr. Kushner's production despite being responsive to the second request."

Kushner came under new scrutiny this week after The Atlantic revealed that his brother-in-law Donald Trump Jr. told him in an email last September that WikiLeaks had sent him a private message on Twitter. Kushner forwarded that information to Hope Hicks, according to The Atlantic.

The "Russian backdoor overture" could be a reference to Kushner's meeting with the CEO of a sanctioned Russian bank in December that was also attended by former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The senators said Thursday that Kushner had not provided all of the information it requested related to his communications with Flynn.

Kushner told lawmakers earlier this year that he suggested the Trump transition team and Russia establish a back-channel line of communication to discuss Syria using Russian diplomatic facilities in the US. It had not been reported, however, that the matter was discussed again in emails that Kushner "also forwarded."

Simiarly, it has not been previously reported that Millian communicated with members of the Trump campaign in on emails the senators say Kushner was copied.

It is unclear to what the "dinner invite" refers.

The senators also said Kushner had not produced any phone records.

It is possible for people to remember things differently. Not saying either one is right or wrong. But memory is not infallible or immutable.

Melissa McEwan
@Shakestweetz
Yeah, it is possible. But let's be really blunt about this: "I remember it differently" is classic rape apologia employed by abusers. There is abundant documentation of how this is used against victims in court, for example.

I've written dozens of pieces over the years about cases in which charges weren't filed or defendants were acquitted because a sexual assault was chalked up to a "misunderstanding" or "miscommunication."

Often embedded in the narratives of misunderstanding and miscommunication is the "different memories of the same event" claim. The accused will concede something happened, but "remember" it differently.

Typically, they say they remember something as "consensual" when an accuser says otherwise. We just say this play out with Louis CK. He "remembered" asking for his victims' consent.

The old "we just remember it differently" chestnut is something I've seen abusers use countless times. If Franken isn't deliberately employing this classic rape apologia, I'd think he'd want to be aware of it. It's a problem.

BREAKING: FCC votes to eliminate media ownership rules, paving way for one company to own multiple TV stations or both TV station/newspaper in one market

Renato Mariotti‏*@renato*_mariotti

1/ The Trump Administration is easing the rules on media ownership to facilitate the Sinclair/Tribune merger, which would reduce media diversity and increase the power of pro-Trump Sinclair.

2/ Yet the Trump Administration has taken an extremely aggressive position in the AT&T-Time Warner, suggesting that it might require the divestiture of Turner Broadcasting (which includes CNN).

3/ This comes on the heels of comments by Jared Kushner that CNN should fire 20 percent of its workforce, and Rupert Murdoch’s reported interest in purchasing CNN.

4/ Why is the Trump Administration pro-consolidation for Sinclair and the Tribune, a horizontal merger that would create local monopolies, but is so tough on a merger between companies that don’t directly compete?

5/ We must demand answers. The free press is one of our most important bulwarks against tyranny. We need a press that is independent and has diverse voices.

6/ As Illinois Attorney General, I will continue our fight against the harmful Sinclair-Tribune merger, which would reduce media diversity in our state. /end

1/ Today we learned that U.S. Steel dumped 56.9 pounds of toxic Chromium into Lake Michigan and tried to hide it. It’s only coming to light due to the work of @UChicago students.

2/ This is not the first time that U.S. Steel polluted our waterways. Back in 2016, they settled a 2012 case with U.S. EPA and paid millions in penalties. They didn’t learn from that lesson. www.justice.gov/opa/pr/u-s-steel-corporation-agrees-end-litigation-improve-environmental-compliance-its-three

3/ Because the Trump Administration is scaling back environmental enforcement, we can’t sit back and wait for the federal government to take care of environmental problems.

4/ As Illinois Attorney General, I’ll protect Lake Michigan and take action against companies like U.S. Steel when they violate the Clean Water Act. Visit renatomariotti.com/ to learn more about our campaign and join our effort. /end
