To think the Radfords must be getting money from somewhere other than that bakery?!

They've just posted a picture of themselves at T Rex in Orlando. With 20 kids (some grandkids too I think?)

Surely there's no bakery on earth that lucrative that you can take 24 odd people to Disney World??

I think fence is paid 11k for the 5 minutes she does the books and the mythical cleaning/directorship she does too. As does other members of the family too.

I don't pay tax on my personal wages either as my company is set up as a Ltd one and I only draw the £11000 a year. Obviously I pay my corporation tax etc, and I pay an accountant to make sure it's as low as possible. I don't draw dividends and pay as much into my pension as I can which goes in tax free. We have our mobile phones through the company and make sure we offset every expense we possibly can.

Its not illegal, it's not unusual. Its simply what the accountant advises. That said we choose not to take CB, and we certainly have no tax credits, although our earnings are technically low enough to draw if we wanted. Because we're limited we are company 'employees' and therefore have wage slips etc to prove this. We also voluntarily pay our NI stamps.

Our returns go to Inland Revenue every year, as they should and to date are signed off as correct.

I know on MN and all over the tv and social media, people who claim benefits are usually vilified as lazy scum and told to get a job.

But to me people that dont pay tax are worse than scum and then saying "but it's perfectly legal", as if that makes it ok, well, really.... They and their families will be using all the services that tax pays for in this country and they contribute nothing towards it.

Its so immoral and disgusting, yet its people who get benefits that are made out to be bad.

yet the people who put out these benefit stories and propaganda are usually tax avoiders themselves, legally, of course

Rachie1973 · 31/10/2017 09:57

I would never vilify benefits claimants. I've been there, and make a point of not judging anyone. Its not my place.

We lost everything some years back. Our 2 biggest customers crashed and ours went in turn. Our home was repossessed and no-one helped us. No way of getting help. Then, when we'd lost it all they fell over themselves to throw money at us.... housing benefit, tax credits, free prescriptions etc. It struck us then that the system was screwed.

We started up again, from my in laws garage and made a point of not claiming anything. We have 6 kids, so the entitlement would have been quite substantial.

What we do now means we don't rely on anyone else, we won't be relying on anyone else in our old age either, which is good since my husband has a serious heart condition and we almost lost him once already after the collapse and a subsequent heart attack, I could wake up one morning and find he's gone. In the meantime we've ensured that financially, if that happens I'm not reliant on the government to take care of me.

Gromance02 · 31/10/2017 10:03

They must be paying a fortune in school fees and private healthcare if they're not relying on other tax payers to cover these costs for them!

karriecreamer · 31/10/2017 10:04

I dont get the big "they claim child benefit" uproar. Yep. So doew everyone else. Theyre entitiled to it. Would you not claim something you were entitled to?

Their personal income (either husband or wife) is probably more than £60k from the business and media, so they'd either have to not claim child benefit or they'd have to repay it via their tax return. You are liable to repay child benefit on a tapering scale when your income is between £50k-£60k.

Myperfectlittlefamily · 31/10/2017 10:04

Alot of people commenting on the tax credits and child benefit they will recieve. But you can only claim for 2 children?? They wont be getting anywhere near as much as people assume?

Gromance02 · 31/10/2017 10:05

I'm not reliant on the government to take care of me Don't most people rely on other tax payers to fund them? Unless you earn a hell of a lot of money?

mydogisthebest · 31/10/2017 10:06

ssd, I don't agree with people avoiding tax either. My DH is self employed and yes, of course, he claims allowable expenses but he pays tax and doesn't cheat his expenses.

I know people not paying tax who should be. Our landlord for a start who has been renting his house out for over 20 years but doesn't declare it. I know that for a fact as he will only take the rent in cash and all his post comes to us so he is making out he lives in the house

karriecreamer · 31/10/2017 10:06

I'd say media money the bakery shocking looks like 1980 sandwich shop never been busy when I've been in and tesco's 10 doors down .Someone said about massive house think semi attached to it sold for about £280k

The bakery also supplies other shops in the area, so it's far more than just it's own shop front! As for housing, their house is in a very cheap area of a very cheap run-down town, so you can get large properties for what seems to be very low amounts of money compared to other more affluent/expensive areas of the country.

mydogisthebest · 31/10/2017 10:09

The rules to only be able to claim for 2 children only came in recently and only applies to babies born after a certain date. It will only apply to their latest baby not all the others

Rachie1973 · 31/10/2017 10:15

Crikey! he's brave. I rent a house out as well (sadly lost FIL last year), that is totally declared. He could seriously come a cropper as there's way too many loose threads. Electoral roll for example, and imagine if you didn't pay the council tax! They'd be after him, not you! He's a fool. I have no problem with my accountant looking after my company and making it pay for me, but I would shit a brick every time my door went if I was committing fraud.

Gromance02 · 31/10/2017 10:15

However you dress it up, it is so fucking irresponsible to have that many children. I don't care whether you're on the bones of your arse or a billionaire.

0nesie · 31/10/2017 10:15

Myperfect You are misinformed. The 2 child tax credit cap only applies to a third child from April 2017. The parents of any kids before that are still entitled to tax credits so they would still be able to claim for 19 kids with only the baby being born since April not entitled to tax credits on his behalf. In other words, the 2 child tax credit cap is not retrospective and only applies to a third child (or subsequent) born after April 2017!

Rachie1973 · 31/10/2017 10:18

Gromance02 However you dress it up, it is so fucking irresponsible to have that many children. I don't care whether you're on the bones of your arse or a billionaire.

Truthfully I always wonder how you get to spend enough time with them individually. I had 6, 4 of my own, then 2 stepkids who we had with us too. I struggled with making time for all of them when they needed to talk to me alone etc.

0nesie · 31/10/2017 10:21

Mydogisthebest - If there are any bills in your names then HMRC will catch up with your landlord as they have a lot of power to cross-reference different agencies these days (modern technology). Also, you have him over a barrel because if he tries to evict you, you can report him to HMRC. Make sure you get a receipt each time you pay rent, this is for your own safety and so that he cannot just kick you out. If you don't have an official rental contract then you might be in a very precarious position as if he is happy to evade tax then he would probably have no problems kicking you out for whatever reason. Do you have a Assured Shorthold Contract or any kind of tenancy agreement? He should also have protected your deposit by law! Has he done that?

whoopwhoop21 · 31/10/2017 10:39

There is a massive problem with landlords not paying the correct tax.

mydogisthebest · 31/10/2017 10:55

Onesie, all bills are in our name and our names are on the electoral roll. I am really surprised that HMRC have not caught up with him. Also he has not told his building society that he is renting the house out as we get his post from them too.

We have rented for just short of 15 years and he has never done any repairs or maintenance. In fact has never spent even a penny on the property. In order to keep it nice we have spent out a fair bit on it - we like the house and the area plus he is ok with us having pets.

We spoke to him in June about some issues with the house and he got really funny and then started saying he wants us out. He issued a Section 21 notice last month. We have told him it's not valid as, unsurprisingly, he didn't put our deposit in a scheme, but he tells us we are wrong.

Luckily for us we have managed to be able to buy a house and should be moving out around Christmas. We haven't actually told him that as we are annoyed with him.

I am interested to see what his next move will be especially, as you say, as we could report him and he would be in a heap of trouble and owe a fortune to HMRC.

karriecreamer · 31/10/2017 11:48

There is a massive problem with landlords not paying the correct tax.

Luckily, it's something the current government are taking action against. Property letting tax evasion was largely ignored for a couple of decades, but HMRC are now VERY active in cross referencing the land registry, other governmental agency databases (benefits, elector register, council tax records, DVLA, passports etc), to target tax evading landlords. It's one of the most common things that potential new clients come to me about - when they receive the letter from HMRC but havn't been declaring and need help!

karriecreamer · 31/10/2017 11:49

Also he has not told his building society that he is renting the house out as we get his post from them too.

You should write "return to sender, not at this address" on the envelopes and send them back in the post box.

whoopwhoop21 · 31/10/2017 13:05

Good to know Karrie

DelilahDarcey · 31/10/2017 13:43

Whenever someone has a reasonably large online and media presence/following they get freebies and get paid incredibly large fees for things, whether that is promoting a product via instagram or giving an interview to a magazine. The figures paid by the media and brands are massive, they really are!

I follow a few ex TOWIE women on instagram who weren't in the show much, don't seem to do anything now such as TV presenting, yet are absolutely totally and utterly loaded. They all have hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram and do the occasional magazine interview so I'm guessing their lifestyle is funded by freebies, fees for interviews and fees for promoting things via their social media accounts.

Actually a few bloggers that I have followed for years and who now have huge instagram followings have seemed in recent years to become incredibly wealthy whilst claiming to do a standard run of the mill 'proper job', so clearly this is the same as above, and they are earning it all through just being 'well known'.

sukitea · 31/10/2017 14:03

Of course the filming company are paying for it. I remember a few years ago someone asking Sophie on FB if they were filming again and Sue commented that they were approached but the 'terms and conditions' were not appealing enough or something like that. Not too long after that they revealed they were going on a roadtrip in Oz so I assume another rival company offered them that.

DelilahDarcey · 31/10/2017 14:09

I think that on every TV series about the Radfords there has been a holiday of some kind; I remember in the first series about them they all went off to Spain, then in another series after that the parents renewed their wedding vows abroad and so they all had a holiday there, I think this was Portugal or Greece. And then of course Australia in the more recent series.

I don't blame them TBH. If I could get free all expenses paid holidays for myself and my family then I would totally, 100% go for it.

Dahlietta · 31/10/2017 14:25

Theyre famous.

I genuinely have no idea who they are. Should I be proud?
