Where will the charges against Manafort lead? Whose shredders are overheating today? And most importantly, when will the Tweetstorm-from-the-loo start?

The Pocahontas thing was today

I know, I just meant it’s ridiculously trumpian to proclaim November native aMercian heritage month and then three days later use derogatory and racist terms, specifically eluding to Native American heritage, to publicly insult a senator

Wtf are the Dems actually doing though? You have the fucker properly on the ropes, so you choose that exact moment to give him ammo that Hillary was really ‘crooked’? I mean ffs! Meanwhile the GOP are genuinely worried that he’s going to start WW3 but are largely keeping schtum to pass a tax bill. I honestly despair of someone as clever as Elizabeth Warren can’t grasp the concept of the greater evil.

Republicans just introduced a resolution to remove Mueller from the Trump-Russia investigation

cozietoesie · 03/11/2017 19:33

3 Republicans, I think?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 03/11/2017 19:37

Yep. This is going to be the focus on fox, Sinclair media etc which will mean large swathes of the population will become even more acclimatised to the idea so that when trump decides to pull off his Saturday night massacre, there won’t be as much outrage.

It won’t have immediate short term effects (hopefully) but it’s laying the ground work for future attempts, I think.

Some good points about the fragility and the dangers of using an unsecure Twitter account to post policy and threats.

Why it should worry you that Trump's Twitter feed went down

"But what if someone found a way to take over Trump's account and tweeted: "I've just OK'd a nuclear strike against North Korea?""

It makes a certain non-governmental email server seem less of a problem.

I imagine that there’s an entire division of the NSA - Nay, an entire federal agency - devoted to protecting that account. Grin

Lweji · 03/11/2017 20:52

Sadly, it's understaffed.

cozietoesie · 03/11/2017 20:55

Do you know how big the NSA is ? (But I take the point. Wink)

Lweji · 03/11/2017 20:59

Hmmm...

I wonder if they monitor people who report his tweets.

I may need to rethink that trip I wasn't going to take to the US.

Some of the lobby groups aren’t happy about the tax proposals.

Not in favour?

The doj’s actions are shocking but sadly reflect trump’s ideas about the rule of law.

I think we’re in a bit of a rock/hard place situation with sessions - on the one hand, he’s clearly lied under oath so many times that it’s gone beyond appropriate for him to occupy the role of attorney general but on the other hand, if he’s removed, trump would be able to appoint a new AG who isn’t recused from the Russia investigation and who can disrupt it more effectively.

Of course, like the twitter account furore, the main issue is trump’s behaviour (if obama’s account had been hijacked and someone tweeted about starting war with North Korea, it would have been serious but not plausible as a threat - it’s the fact that trump uses twitter so inappropriately that’s the problem). If trump and his team hadn’t been working with the Russians to subvert democracy, his AG wouldn’t have been in the position to be lying under oath nor would there be a special counsel investigation to interefere with.
