The ever filtered Facebook and Instagram summaries of this weekend have make me wonder if we’re a bunch of lazy nuggets. Apart from some shopping and numerous dog walks, we’ve done pretty much nothing of note. I’d love to read some real reflections of family weekend life....

Friday - got home, was in living room up for a good night but my partner watched tv in the kitchen on his phone so I went to bed pissed off Friday night was so shit.
Saturdat- got up early ish, went to local town and walked about 5k round a lake with the dog and partner, was a good walk! Then some shopping and home. Got changed and went back into town to meet a mate and to watch the local rugby club play then we all headed to a pub for food then went home and watched the anthiny Joshua fight. Went to bed about midnight. Sunday- got up early and went for a walk with the dog around a dam and forest. Then I clipped a big bush hanging off the house and tidied up part of the garden which hasn't been touched for a year (spent about 4 hours doing this). Had a bath then headed to a nearby castle for a haunted forest walk, came home had tea and now I'm sore from gardening so in bed!

applecatchers36 · 29/10/2017 20:41

Friday stayed in watched House of cards with a takeaway. DH fell asleep watching TV on the sofa.
Sat DS had football practice, DD had a friends birthday party. In the evening we went to a lantern 🏮 lighting display with kids and neighbours.
Today horrible early start at 5am/ 6am,
DD and I went to Sunday school,
DS and DH stayed home to do housework, washing, cleaning up etc..
In the afternoon planted out some bulbs, DH took kids to park/ playground
I cooked a roast for this evening
Kids bathed and now in bed.
The only thing FB worthy was maybe the lanterns. They were very pretty.

JustDanceAddict · 29/10/2017 20:50

A mix of seeing a couple of relatives - one that we don’t see often - so that was nice. Helping ds with homework today mainly as he was overloaded, so kept an eye on him. Last night dh and I went to a function. Quiet one for the kids - came with us to see the rellies. DD’s arrangements didn’t come to fruition!

Yesterday up at 5 with 2mo. Went for a walk, decided it was too cold, came back. Got in a mood with dh because he slept til 12. Did a lot of cleaning.
Today up at 5.30 fed and played with baby. Napped for an hour. Got up at 10. Went to a car boot sale, shopping at Aldi. Came home, loads of ironing and cleaning again every time the baby goes to sleep. Still got more ironing to do then will have a nice long bath when dh gets home from work

Babababababybel23 · 29/10/2017 20:52

Oh and a lot of internet surfing whenever baby was on me and I had a spare arm. Looking at things I can't afford

MysweetAudrina · 29/10/2017 21:00

Yesterday I studied at the kitchen table for a few hours, cooked dinner and watched a film with dh. Kids were at a party and dh was working for a few hours. Today we all went out for brunch and I studied for an hour in the afternoon. Meant to do a bit more but fell asleep. Went to shops, cooked dinner and did a bit of study with my ds24 who is studying in the same field as me. Younger two managed to wrangle a double sleepover so the 4 of them are watching and DVD and eating my Halloween trick or treat stash.d's coming over in the morning to some more study. Taking the week off work as kids off and I need to do more study. Did I mention I need to do alot of study?

DenPerry · 29/10/2017 21:16

We've been busy this weekend for once (saw animatronic dinosaurs at the park, then a halloween walk) so lots of instagram posts, but what is not shown is the simmering resentment between me and DP at the moment. Next week will be back to normal service (lazing around)

CountDuckulaTheSqueaky · 29/10/2017 21:18

Had lunch in McDonald's, then took DS2's tablet to be fixed yesterday, picked up the tablet today. We have chilled weekends because the DC seem permanently knackered.

katienana · 29/10/2017 21:24

End of half term trip away this weekend for us so it was a bit different! Set off at 9 yesterday, 3 hour drive, nstional trust property, check into hotel, swim, dinner in hotel, bed. Today we were awake from 5 (painful) dh took ds1 for a walk so ds2 and I could get a bit more sleep. Breakfast then off to attraction, stayed till 4 then drive home. Exhausting but fun!
Usually weekends are a full day out on Saturdays. I pack a picnic and we go to a national trust, beach, woods or somewhere like that. If weather is awful we try to think of something else to do. Ds are 5 and 1 so we can't manage the cinema with both of them yet. Sunday ds1 goes to rugby training at 10, I stay home with ds2 and sort out some lunch for us all. After lunch we pop out for a couple of hours then we like to come home and collapse in front of the tv for a couple of hours before tea time! Then its bath and bed for the boys before tv and wine for dh and I.
I love the weekends and find it much easier having a second adult around. It is full on with how much we are out though, we don't have a garden so if we want the kids to play outside we have to haul ourselves somewhere!

ForalltheSaints · 29/10/2017 21:24

I went shopping yesterday morning and was greeted as usual by the cat that sits outside the supermarket. As it was sunny she looked for the sunny spot. As this photo shows. Like many cats, standing in the first ballet position(!)

Friday walked to revolution square, did walking tour and went to Ceausescu’s Palace/Parliament building. Visited a few orthodox churches, the National bank and the ruins of Vlad the Impalers palace.
Saturday got up early for drive to Transylvania . Went to two castles (Peles and Bran) and a medieval city (Brasov). Then out for a meal.
Today went to an open air museum then national art gallery to see Van Dykes, El Greco’s, Robins, Monets etc and stopped for late lunch. Hotel for spa then out for meal.

Aumtumnalredsky · 29/10/2017 21:33

Friday night out for dinner with DP
Yesterday a lazy morning, dog walk with DP and then out with friends for (copious amounts of) drinks in the evening.
This morning a hungover dog walk, this afternoon I rode the horse and then DP and I chilled out watched tv/ had dinner etc.

That’s what most weekends look like TBH.

FairyDogMother11 · 29/10/2017 21:36

I neglected my housework all weekend till this afternoon after we finished binge-watching Stranger Things 2 Blush DP played his console and that was about it for us Grin

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 29/10/2017 21:44

thedcbrokemybank · 29/10/2017 21:44

I had a FB/Instagram worthy weekend but am not on either so I'll brag here instead!
Friday: Took dc roller skating, had neighbours over for dinner and made pizza from scratch. Did pumpkin carving with all the kids. Went to pub. Drank too much gin
Saturday:
DH took dc clay pigeon shooting. I spent day cleaning the house and then joined dh and took dogs for a long walk. Had 25 people over for dinner post shoot. Made vats of stew and chilli. Did halloween activites for the smaller dc. Drank too much wine.
Sunday:
All but one dc had sports matched. I stayed at home with pukey one and literally did nothing. We all had a strictly marathon this afternoon and then made models for homework.
Most weekends are taken up with scheduled activities but it was nice to not rush around for that this weekend.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 29/10/2017 21:45

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 29/10/2017 21:58

Ahh yes the life through Instagram filter of kids who look like Boden catalogue
Read people describe their enriching hobbies eg tobogganing, and artisan lattes
We have done Grocery shopping, stuff about house, cooking, and movie on sofa

5foot5 · 29/10/2017 22:01

Up early Saturday for a music lesson then spent most of the morning at music club while DH did the shopping. Grin Then DH, DD and I went out for lunch.

In the afternoon I gave the garage a much needed clear out and DH went to the tip with the stuff I had turfed out. After that I was tired and dirty so I had a soak in the bath and when I came down DH had done all the ironing! (What a star)

Saturday evening we watched Gunpowder and some more of Stranger Things S2. And drank wine.

Today DH, DD and I went out in to the Peak District and had a lovely autumnal walk and I spilt soup on my fleece.

Tonight DD cooked dinner and now we are drinking wine again in front of the tele.

Not a bad weekend.

OneOfTheGrundys · 29/10/2017 22:01

Yesterday the DCs has tutoring in the morning then we walked the dogs and rearranged their bedrooms in the afternoon. Then we slobbed around watching Tv.

Today we had friends over for lunch. The morning was spent cooking, then they arrived and my friend and I and ds1 did a long dog walk while her dp stayed with the young uns. After they left we watched the A Team double bill on C5 😏 then had our tea.

I try to make a point of making the last few days of hol pretty boring so they’re gagging for school!

Rainbowblume · 29/10/2017 22:02

Friday night watches amazon prime until too late. Saturday child woke too early. DH was out doing sport. So i had to get up. Food shopping. Lunch. Sat about not doing much. Baked some muffins with child. Went to shop to buy tea bags and crackers. Sodding shops closed (small town) did bed time. Did some work and watched ted talks. Sunday, breakfast, walk with child and DH with ball and kite as felt guilty about lack of fresh air day before. Lunch (leftovers from sat) played with child all afternoon whilst DH worked. Did house work whilst they went out to get bread. Tried to suggest a short break as was falling asleep whilst reading a story. 3 year old temper tantrum and discussion about not hitting. Sandwiches for dinner. Bath and bed for child. Writing a letter and mumsnet whilst DH works some more.

firawla · 29/10/2017 22:05

Yesterday there was a trick or treat event in local shopping centre so we went to that, met cousins there. Came home early afternoon and relaxed at home, tidying up, kids playing, dh went to the tip etc. Evening watched X factor
Today had a baby sensory pumpkin party so i took youngest to that in morning and dh took the boys to play football. Afternoon relaxed at home again, and evening again in front of the tv with X factor
