The ever filtered Facebook and Instagram summaries of this weekend have make me wonder if we’re a bunch of lazy nuggets. Apart from some shopping and numerous dog walks, we’ve done pretty much nothing of note. I’d love to read some real reflections of family weekend life....

Saturday morning took DC to swim & then swam myself for a while.
Saturday pm cooked and tidied then read book in bath for an hour.
Saturday evening friends came round for dinner. Drank too much.
Sunday morning mostly in bed. Did dishwasher & tidied a little. Started cooking again around midday.
Sunday pm had family over for a roast dinner.
Now on sofa in PJs with cat & iPad.

Jet lag, had a brilliant holiday in America. I know I’ve lost any sympathy. It was the best holiday ever.
Four migranes this week
Proper man flu. Shivers, hot flushes, lost voice, cough, sore eyes, sore sinuses, runny nose... poor me... the night flight was a joy.
Lazed on sofa and feeling guilty for not doing the housework.
Ds2 electronic baby sitter and holiday homework.
Ds1 Big Bang Therory, tidying his room, lazing around.
Dh cleaned bathrooms and kitchen, cooked roast dinner. There was some random shouting this morning. He would say it wasn’t random.

We’ve done fuck all here, as ever 😊

Sat - woke up - returned to hospital where ex DH had been spending the night with DD3 who is ill (I have done the last 12 nights!)

Sat with DD3 - had to listen outside while they did a second lumbar puncture - even with sedation it was brutal and she screamed

Sat with DD3 while she slept - came home as he did the night shit again - got home at 10pm - tried to spend some quality time with my teens :(

Sunday - back to hospital - we have been allowed to bring her home so she is upstairs with her sisters having 'girl time' whatever that is Grin then back to hospital to sleep

not very nice on the whole

14.5 hours at work yesterday (7.30am-10pm). Home, enjoyed extra hour in bed then left at 6.50am for 7.30am-3pm shift today.
Got home at 4pm after a bit of grocery shopping. So far have ironed, made tea with DH and cleaned bunnies out.
DH and DS (13) went on a bike ride yesterday after bag packing to raise funds for DS' scout troup.
Today DS had an hour of maths tuition this morning and met his pals for a bit this afternoon while DH took my DM to the supermarket.

Yesterday I worked, I'm self employed so work at least one day every weekend. In the evening I watched stranger things and had a few beverages.

Today I have pottered about a bit, done some washing, played with ds mostly and helped him do his homework. I've just had a sunday roast which I've cooked and dh is now washing up the dishes. I've got to give ds a bath before bed in an hr or so and then I'm going to do buggar all till bed time. I will probably watch a bit more stranger things and have another beverage.

Got up early on Saturday and got toddler and newborn ready to go to toddler rugby. We were on time but it wasn't on because of half term, so we went to the park. Came home and got warm then had lunch at a cafe in town. Children napped while I did laundry and sent a few emails and DH went to the barber and dry cleaner. Then I cooked veggie burgers for dinner while DH entertained the toddler and looked after the baby. Then we got the children ready for bed and promptly fell asleep on the sofa. The night involved lots of baby feeding and teething toddler settling and ended at half past five with the toddler coming into our bed and getting a fit of the giggles every time his brother made snuffly noises.

Today we tidied and cleaned the sitting room and kitchen and went to soft play. Both children are currently napping while DH and I do our online food shop. Tacos for dinner is the plan.

PurpleMinionMummy · 29/10/2017 18:23

Some weekends we do lots, sports commitments, family visits, fun stuff. Others we do nothing and veg on tech. Normally a day of each.

mumontherun14 · 29/10/2017 18:23

Had a very good friends 40th on fri night with DH which was good fun. Collected kids on Sat morning and DD (10)went to horseriding for the day and DS (13)mooched about then had a few friends up to play FIFA. Collected DD and she had a friend back for a sleepover. Fed them all then the boys went off to Halloween party. Me and DH went a long dog walk in the afternoon and I did loads of washing. Today DS had football early so we went to watch that and DD rode pony again in the afternoon. Now about to have tea at ours with my parents. Tidied up a bit and did some ironing. Rock n roll x

TammyswansonTwo · 29/10/2017 18:23

Honestly, I'm embarrassed to say but in the interests of bursting that SM bubble...

Woke up yesterday to find my period had started. Instant agony. Husband went to the supermarket while I grimaced my way through giving the twins breakfast. Pretty much since then I've laid on the sofa with my heatpad while they play, dosed up on painkillers, while we achieve literally zero beyond the daily essentials.

Ragwort · 29/10/2017 18:25

Gibble - where do you get your energy from?

I worked yesterday - I love my job and it is not 'hard' - very pleasant actually Grin. Had already prepared a meal for the evening so ate that, drank wine and watched 2 hours of TV with DH.

This morning - did the ironing (sounds good but only takes me 10 minutes!), went to Church, did half an hour's volunteering at a project I am involved with (easy to pop in and do 30 mins sorting out) - did some shopping, went for a walk, met a couple of friends for a chat, lots more lazing around, mumsnetting, stuck a roast in the oven, drinking more wine, will probably play a board game or cards after dinner with DH & teenage DS & then an hour's tv - pretty dull really Grin.

My DH is far more energetic than me, he has sorted out the garage, been to the tip, loads of gardening, been cycling, taxied DS around ........ and does a heavy, manual job.

Bratsandtwats · 29/10/2017 18:25

Yesterday went out for breakfast, housework and then met friends in the evening to see a show.
Today, slobbed in pjs all morning. Had a shower and put on clean pjs and slobbed the rest of the afternoon. DH and DS went to see Thor at the cinema.
Ate Sunday roast. Drank wine.

Trafficjammadness · 29/10/2017 18:25

Saturday took ds to his club, then he had a haircut and we went to do food shop. Then I went out with friends which is a rare event. Today has been lazy day but d's been very naughty and hyper so had a lot of times out and tears tofay, been frustrating. He's fast asleep now and I'm about to chill in the bath and watch louis Theroux later

SheilaHammond · 29/10/2017 18:29

Drove DC about to various activities on Saturday: a play rehearsal, a party, DD ‘s job in a pub. Picked up elder DS from uni as he has a week of no lectures and wanted to come home.

Cooked, did laundry, and tidied up in between times.

Today, went for a run, sorted lunch, fell asleep on sofa after lunch. Now getting ready for back to school tomorrow.

PrincessoftheSea · 29/10/2017 18:31

Unless I have been out Friday night, I usually get up at 8 on a Saturday and go for country walk with DH. We get back and have breakfast and read the papers. Wake the kids. We then do housework/ chores and kids do homework. We usually all go swimming and to the gym around 5 and then go back home and make pizza and watch a film. Kids may have friends/ girlfriend over.

Sundays we have a big family breakfast and then go for a long hike or cycle in the country or a walk in Hyde Park. If it rains we hit the museums. We usually eat out. Our rules are Saturday we can do what we like, but Sundays are family time.

My kids are preteen and teens.

We never post our weekends in Instagram

BendydickCuminsnatch · 29/10/2017 18:31

Met new baby niece yesterday morning. Park after nap time. Strictly in the evening.
Today - 9am skate park session with DS's balance bike, onto pumpkin patch, gloriously no queues and we were done before it officially even opened, got an amazing waffle. Naptime. Home stuff and TV in bed this afternoon while DH took DS round to in laws.
DS has a terrible cold though so also had our fair share of tears.

Didn't take any pics for social media though, that sucks the life out of everything. I'm not a social media fan if you can't tell Grin

Wilburissomepig · 29/10/2017 18:31

Travelled back from holiday Friday night.

Did 546 loads of washing yesterday.

Went to Halloween party last night.

Bit more washing today but apart from that I'm nursing a hangover so not much. Waiting for Strictly and Planet Earth II then I'll be hitting the hay.

EscapingAdultLife · 29/10/2017 18:33

I went to the supermarket twice & have spent the rest of the weekend either watching tv, reading or eating whilst drinking wine. I'm now sprawled on the sofa drinking tea and eating chocolate biscuits. It's a rare weekend for me to not be flying and not have plans so has been great

DanglyBatOrnaments · 29/10/2017 18:34

Went to the gym both mornings, did a couple of deliveries for work and then bought some snacks and wine, lay on sofa on ate/drank these.

Oops and here i am again, laying on sofa trying to get rested before am sucked into the tornado they call work tomorrow. Halloween Grin

Judydreamsofhorses · 29/10/2017 18:35

No kids here, but:

Friday night - Pizza delivery, junk telly, Stranger Things, wine, crisps.
Saturday - laid in late, then bacon sandwiches in bed. Stripped and changed the bed, did a load of laundry. DP went off to football, I had an epic bath with a load of trashy mags and put on clean pyjamas. Dinner. Strictly/X Factor/more Stranger Things. DP went to bed, I stayed up reading until about 1.30. More wine and crisps.
Sunday - another lie-in. Went out for lunch. Home and DP hoovered/swept/mopped all the floors while I painted my nails. We’ll have dinner about 7.30, then it will be pottering about - i’ve been off for half-term so need to get my shit together for going back to work tomorrow. Bed about 11.30.

Fairly typical weekend for us at this time of year.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 29/10/2017 18:36

Ooh good luck ethel, I'm 38 weeks too!

uptheclydeinabananaboat · 29/10/2017 18:38

Morning sickness, a house that looks like a tornado hit it, stranger things and some washing

Oh but my DH bought some nice chocs so I'll have some of them tonight and then spew them back up

Welshrainbow · 29/10/2017 18:39

Yesterday we had singing followed by soft play and lunch with a friend then home to play with trains, today was football then chilled at home Making massive train tracks that covered my living room and reading books. Some weekends it feels like more work than working so it's nice to have a chilled one sometimes.
