The ever filtered Facebook and Instagram summaries of this weekend have make me wonder if we’re a bunch of lazy nuggets. Apart from some shopping and numerous dog walks, we’ve done pretty much nothing of note. I’d love to read some real reflections of family weekend life....

Ethel good luck, exciting times!
Ghosty, I hope that your DD gets well soon Flowers

Wincarnis · 29/10/2017 18:44

Saturday took ddog out, shopping, coffee, admin, took ddog out again, deep cleaned kitchen, cooked huge spag bol, cleaned kitchen again, did some sewing, took ddog out yet again, watched SCD & Casualty.
Sunday took ddog out, coffee, deep cleaned bathroom, took ddog out again, did laundry, sorted clothes out for week, took ddog out again, ate spag bol again, now going to settle down on couch with ddog & cuppa & watch Mexican GP. Exciting, eh ?

Mominatrix · 29/10/2017 18:44

It varies. Typically, Saturday I get up before everyone else and make breakfast - more pastries/heavier things on weekends. I take one son to piano lessons and play ball with the dog whilst the lesson is on, DH takes other son to rugby.

Lunch is a light affair as DS2 is still at rugby, and I usually prepare dinner. Saturday dinner, if we are at home, is a 3 course affair. We usually do spend Saturday nights as a family so after dinner, we usually watch a movie together.

Sunday is a more relaxed affair - dog walk, lunch out usually with friends, then homework and preparing for the week ahead.

disahsterdahling · 29/10/2017 18:46

Yesterday morning I did my local parkrun and then DH and I went out for a belated anniversary lunch. I popped into town for a couple of things in the afternoon. Watched Strictly in the evening with a glass of wine and peanut/crisps.

Today, not a lot. Saw a sparrowhawk catch and eat a pigeon in the back garden...cooked and eaten dinner. Read a book. Now about to watch Strictly results and Blue Planet 2 and then have to go over to school to collect DS who's been on a school trip.

cheapskatemum · 29/10/2017 18:47

Watched a fair amount of football on TV (2 matches yesterday & 1 today). 2 church services today. DH went grocery shopping while I went to the morning service.

I went to an Open Mic night on Friday evening. DS4 (only one still living at home) went to a drum & bass event last night & spent most of today in bed. Ate a take away curry, which was delivered to the house yesterday evening, then watched Casualty.

I wouldn't want to be this inert every weekend, but I feel my batteries have been recharged & I'm ready for the busy week ahead, which is partly what weekends are for, I believe.

CMOTDibbler · 29/10/2017 18:47

Yesterday we took the dogs for a walk into town, had a drink and cake in the cafe, bought pumpkins, went home and I made a cake. Plus dog walks.

Today we went to the supermarket, did dog walks, I had a nice bath, dh cooked dinner, we mowed the lawn and cleaned the chickens out.

This is very typical for us, though usually there would be some cycling/running/swimming as well. We very, very rarely have anyone round.

AVeryBigHouse · 29/10/2017 18:48

Yesterday we had a slow start to the day. Mid morning, I took the 3 dc out for a walk over the fields to the local train station. Dh stayed behind to do some jobs. In the afternoon, I took dd2 to her friend's Halloween party while dd1 was glued to her iPad while dh and ds rakes leaves and tidied the garden. We got the little ones in bed when dh and I ordered a takeaway while we binged on Broadchurch.

Today, we went out to a small themed park that we have annual passes for to take part in the Halloween activities.

Pretty normal stuff really!

CheeseAndBeans · 29/10/2017 18:48

Sat - Aldi shop in the morning, home for lunch and got the housework done while the kids played. Went out to bonfire/firework display in evening with family, grabbed a McDonald's on the way. Back late so kids straight to bed and I caught up with strictly.

Sun - Park for an hour this morning to get out for a bit, then a day at home watching movies, playing and have just done a pumpkin with the kids. Once they have gone to bed I shall be plonking myself on the sofa with a pizza, glass of wine and strictly!

2 DDs aged 1 and 4. OH works shifts and has been on nights this weekend. Some weekends are busy, some are not. Depends on if he is working/what family are up to/events on/if DD has been invited to party etc.

Fragglewump · 29/10/2017 18:48

Friday night - knackered - had dinner with octogenarian Uncle and Aunt who have been house guests this week. Dh got home late - I picked dd up from her job at Pizza Hut. Did some washing. Early night for all 8 of us plus dog
Saturday - Dh left for work, house guests left and then Grandad arrived. Young Mum who is in foster care with us and her baby walked to buy veg to purée for baby while I sorted and tidied the junk room. Dd went to work. Dh came home with dsd and we sat in the jacuzzi and drank wine. Ds went out with Grandad and started spray painting tshirts in the garden once it got dark. Hmm watched strictly then went to bed at about 8.30pm. Quick shag. Sleep.
Sunday - Dh off to work again . Left 3 teens sleeping while I went to a car boot sale with Grandad and the Mum and baby who live with us. Grandad took all kids out for sprinkles (ice cream parlour) while I started roast gammon dinner and did more washing. Then Grandad left, Dh got home and we took Dd out for a driving lesson in her car. Walked dig and baby around park. Came home to mess from the others trying to make an apple pie......ate dinner, dd and Ds now doing homework while Dh takes dsd Home and the Mum thinks about bathing her baby. I had a glass of Merlot. Now lying on sofa exhausted.

imnottoofussed · 29/10/2017 18:51

Yesterday went to city centre on the bus. Was intending to go to an art thing with dd however after the 45 min bus journey the wind and rain had kicked in. We went into the shopping centre instead and had a Costa then went in a few shops before getting the bus back home (stopped off at Asda on the way). Got home with hair like a puff ball and wet legs.

Today went to Tesco and Morrison’s (needed things not in stock at Asda) and spent the rest of the time watching stranger things on Netflix and a place in the sun on tv. Oh I also changed the beds.

Dd hasn’t left the house today as she had some more college art work to do. Although she has also been watching stranger things and a place in the sun. She has also made a batch of biscuits that are chilling in the fridge at the moment.

Liiinoo · 29/10/2017 18:52

We are at our holiday home in a very remote rural area. DH was out in the local bar until 4am this morning and no doubt will repeat that tonight (bank holiday here). I have loafed around in my pjs most of the time + reading, walking and doing a bit of yoga. The weather has been amazing, clear and crisp and beautiful. Just cooking a steak dinner and then Strictly results show and more loafing around. Back to the real world soon. 😒

Idontevencareanymore · 29/10/2017 18:53

Saturday morning, chores while smalls played then dh took them to the lark when I went off to work.
Today we went to buy pumpkins and spent the afternoon carving them, big small dropped one so off to get replacement. Then dh again took kids to park while I cleaned up the pumpkin carving and started dinner.
Mundane stuff really.

Ellybellyboo · 29/10/2017 18:54

Saturday - hairdressers in the morning for both DDs and me. I popped into work for a couple of hours, walked the dog then went to friend’s Halloween party - did post some photos of us in fancy dress on FB, then we were tagged in some other photos

Today - walked the dog, did some sewing, cooked a roast. Now watching shite TV. Kids are vegetating in their rooms

Getoffthetableplease · 29/10/2017 18:55

This weekend for us...I worked on Saturday morning whilst the kids watched tv with husband at home, we then drove to his mum's for lunch and the kids played with her for a while after, home to dinner and then I went to work second shift of day. Today we all stayed in pj's until afternoon, baby playing with me, husband on laptop and eldest on his Nintendo. Neighbour popped over for a cuppa and then we all went to a Halloween party. Kids have had a bath and are in bed ready for me to go back to work. It's been fine, but definitely not the pumpkin patched, playing in the leaves, apple bobbing type of 'blessed' weekend most of my friends looked to have had Wink

glenthebattleostrich · 29/10/2017 18:56

Saturday morning was tennis, then food shopping then a party at softplay. DD then went for a sleepover while DH and I went for dinner for our anniversary.

Today was a long lie in then Costco and Argos then a paint a pot visit.

We usually visit friends, have days out at weekend but that's because I work from home and need to get out by the weekend!

ZenNudist · 29/10/2017 18:56

Saturday lie in, take ds swimming, Halloween party at nursery, home opened birthday pressies, practiced piano with ds1. Got dressed in nice clothes went to very long musical happening (piano recital followed by full orchestra) as special birthday treat. Curry. Home.

Sunday lie in took ds1 to get new glasses, bit of food shopping, drove to family party which went on til tea time, now driving home. Plan to feed dc, prep for school, bed by 8. Then flake.

Its been a good weekend Grin

SagelyNodding · 29/10/2017 18:57

Saturday: DH at work, Ds1 slept at a friend's house and didn't return until 6.30. DS2 and I went to see a friend in the morning, home for a late lunch, then pissed about doing odd jobs and laundry at home. In the evening made a lovely soup and all had dinner watching the Simpsons.
Oh and I did go running too.
Sunday up horrendously late, DH took the boys to work then played pétanque with them and took them for a bike ride while I worked on an important project. Made a cake and a new soup with DS2, Ds1 is sorting his lego... DH home from pub (sigh) and is making the main course of dinner while I sit on the sofa!
Very low key weekend after a heavy week!

BG2015 · 29/10/2017 19:00

Lazy Saturday morning, Aldi shop and loads of washing. DP cooked a chilli and we watched some of Stranger Things 2 before collecting DS from Alton Towers.

Sunday morning we went to the gym, picked up a few bits we’d forgotten from Morrisons, I cooked lunch and then did a bit of taxi services for both DS.

Now sat watching Countryfile eating crackers and cheese.

Back to work tomorrow (half term was last week here).

Pretty typical weekend!

NorksAreMessy · 29/10/2017 19:01

This is such a lovely thread, gentle and non-competitive and a perfect antithesis to Facebook.
Thank you south

LemonShark · 29/10/2017 19:01

Yesterday morning went to a fancy stately hall for a spa weekend with nine friends. Spent the day in the spa, had a facial and foot rub, nice lunch and a very fancy evening meal! Celebrated my friend's 30th. We were all in bed for 11pm conked out 😂

Today, woke up there, lazy lunch then came home. Home for midday. Spent afternoon lounging around online, had a few hours nap. Just had a bath and about to start dinner. No kids!

OH on his weekend shifts, 13 hours each day. When he gets home in a couple of hours we'll eat and then sleep ready for work in the morning.

cherrycola2004 · 29/10/2017 19:02

No family but joining in anyway...

DP at work til 4.30pm Saturday, I cleaned the house and did washing we then went for a walk and had our usual Saturday evening 'date night' in front of the TV with booze and snacks.

DP at work til 4.30pm Sunday, I nursed my hang over, walked to Sainsbury's got some bits, had a bath, painted my finger and toe nails, had a nap and then we went for an hour walk when DP came home. Now I'm on here and he's watching some TV and I plan on eating a bag of chocolate soon with a cuppa.

Not exciting but I enjoyed it all the same. Back to work tomorrow :(

Jasminedes · 29/10/2017 19:08

Friday night tv and takeaway, Saturday 7 mile scenic family walk, then cooked risotto, Sunday watched dd1 play football, had a snacky lunch, then went to Aldi, cleaned downstairs, cooked soup and a roast. DH cleaned upstairs, went for a walk, did the washing and is now doing the ironing.
