Is there a similar forum to MN for men? And if not, why not?

Because I think there should be.

I don't hate men though it will probably be suggested. I really don't. And I think the forum should be open to anyone who wants to use it for advice.

But....It's becoming increasingly strange around here. We've always had the 'what about the menz?' posters derailing threads talking about the harrassment or abuse of women by pointing out that women do it too..... Though it seems worse recently.

But now it seems that so many threads descend into accusations that men are treated differently on MN and often they are. But surely that's because it has a predominantly female membership? Who will see things from the female perspective?

It seems to me that it's causing division and bun-fighting among posters when I genuinely don't understand why there isn't a similar forum available for men?

Why not?

Why does a man join a predominantly female forum to then point out that they're not being treated like a woman? Or....just sit and watch as the women do it for them?

If there is no where else for them on-line then why not?

I'm sure it's possible.

Sketchily · 22/10/2017 18:37

Fair point JonSnow

TeachesOfPeaches · 22/10/2017 18:39

I would if it very odd if I had a bf and I found out he spent his time posting on Mumsnet. Disclaimer: I am a man hater and hate it when men post here.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 22/10/2017 18:39

Unsurprisingly all four are from manufacturers that I would never use or ever consider buying

Well the advert people dont know that

I have adblocker but i used to get adverts for all sorts of shit

BoneyBackJefferson · 22/10/2017 18:39

BobtheFireman
Also to the mansplainer claiming that adverts are based on your google searches

From someone who then mansplains. Oh the irony of it.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 22/10/2017 18:39

Not literal shit...that would be weird

Trueheart1 · 22/10/2017 18:39

PrincessLeia80 I do care that professional female golfers cannot access one of the best golf clubs because of their gender.

Cockacidalmaniac, do you want a pat on the head and to be told how great you are? How we all need you? Where would we girls be without your threads?

PrincessLeia80 · 22/10/2017 18:40

I've got cycling and car adverts

BoneyBackJefferson · 22/10/2017 18:40

Rufustherenegadereindeer1

Its more about the poster that thinks that men must be using these specific things as they are male.

BobtheFireman · 22/10/2017 18:40

I'm not a man. I don't mansplain. I'm merely pointing out the inaccuracy of your very informative post.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 22/10/2017 18:41

Sorry bony

Missed that bit

Got distracted by Han Solo

BobtheFireman · 22/10/2017 18:42

Why don't you ask MNHQ to comment on the adverts?

CockacidalManiac · 22/10/2017 18:42

No, but I’d like not to be told to leave a site that I’ve been posting on for years over something that I have no control over.

Multidimensionalbeing · 22/10/2017 18:42

Thing is, yes it's a parenting forum but I don't see a lot of self-proclaiming men on threads about weaning or bullying in primary school or where to buy the cheapest gym kit.

What I do see is a thread last night (later deleted as the OP got so fucked off with the male derailer) talking about the harassment and abuse by men in positions of power and within about 5 posts a bloke came on saying 'women do it too though, we can't have a fair society if we don't admit that'.

Numerous other threads about the abuse, harrassment or just poor treatment of women and some chap pops up to say 'as a man I think....'.

Or a topic that only women ever experience like BF or menstruation and some chap pops up to give his view even when it's ' as a man, I think it's great'.

I am not interested. I don't care. This is not a topic that you can ever, ever truly experience or relate to so your opinion means nothing to me and I find it really offensive that YOU think it does. That I'm supposed to feel grateful for your input or 'support' somehow? You can support women by not putting your oar in on threads with a big 'I am a man...here is my opinion' you know.

And I don't like the sex topic. I never thought it was necessary and thought it would attract perverts. Which it has. But I cringe even more when there's a thread about getting wet/female masturbation for a partner/anal or whatever when a man posts 'well, I can only speak for me as a man but I love it' or 'I love it when my DW does x, y or z' and I can't help but think urgh - there are hundreds of forums you can post on about how much you love fisting Kevin, it's creepy you're using MN for it.

So to me, I won't know who the men are who are posting on where do I buy the cheapest nappies or how to deal with infant constipation? You know, the parenting advice which apparently can't be found by men anywhere else.

It's the rest of it that pisses me off and makes me wonder why this is apparently the only place that men can post to air their views on issues mainly pertaining to the experiences of women.

Though I'm of course relieved that there are men here telling us there's hope after we've been betrayed and left for younger models.

boney !!!

Sorry, he just popped back...he is going to be put in carbon freeze

Though i did see you could buy a life size version....

BoneyBackJefferson · 22/10/2017 18:43

BobtheFireman

As you are using it incorrectly I have no problem passing it back to you.

Sketchily · 22/10/2017 18:44

Mines Christmas food adverts. I wonder what that’s got to do with hating men 😬

BoneyBackJefferson · 22/10/2017 18:44

Rufustherenegadereindeer1

It is understandable. I used to have a life sized Han Solo carbon freeze poster on my door.

stitchglitched · 22/10/2017 18:44

But Cockacidal you are here, on MN, posting and joining in the threads. So what is the issue? Women are allowed to say they would prefer it to be a female only space, it doesn't mean they are going to be picketing MNHQ to have you banned.

CockacidalManiac · 22/10/2017 18:45

Ok, stitchglitched
Point taken.

Trueheart1 · 22/10/2017 18:45

Multidimensionalbeing well said

BobtheFireman · 22/10/2017 18:46

You see this is why men piss me off. The sheer arrogance of ye. Drives me around the twist.

TeachesOfPeaches · 22/10/2017 18:46

I concur OP

stitchglitched · 22/10/2017 18:46

Well said OP.

BobtheFireman · 22/10/2017 18:47

Agreed stitchglitched
