To ask what to do with the cat?

There's been a cat yowling outside my front door for a good 10 minutes. It's pissing it down here and the poor thing is probably drenched. Am I okay to let it in until it stops raining/overnight? None of us have ever had a cat, we're not sure what to do with it.

This pregnant feral kitten turned up six years ago she was eating hen food scraps, took us weeks to tame her enough to stroke her, she only softened up when she brought her surviving kitten to our shed we managed to bring them both indoors found a lovely home for the kitten, had Mum speyed, chipped, six years later she is still semi wild and nervous but happy to share our home.

All these cat photos

We lost our 17 year old boy a month ago and the house just isn't the same, I'm currently eyeing up some kittens, the dogs life is far too easy now.

I'm reading this thread imagining gangs of mumsnetters waiting at their patio door for any random cat to walk past and going 'you're my cat now, daaaaaave' ala league of gentlemen....

Seriously, your cat pics are beautiful.

I'd love a cat but am to squeamish and couldn't cope with the 'presents'....

mygrandchildrenrock · 18/10/2017 19:53

This is my lovely boy, he is 7 and had a brother who disappeared when they were only 7 months. I like to think his brother is living happily somewhere.

I love cats. I would hope if ours went walkabouts and seemed lost someone would feed him and offer him shelter, then take him to the vets as he’s chipped!

Here’s my beastie boy. He’s like a big puddle of cat.

Take it in! It's chosen you! Cats are fabulous!

Here's the trio: Daisy in the back, Autumn on the left and Mingus on the right. I think A&M were about 9 months old in this shot.

They like to sleep with their heads buried for some reason.

Twiggy71 · 18/10/2017 20:55

My handsome boy Maddox. He was a stray kitten my ds found running about in the middle of the night.
Said ds phoned me at 3am asking what will i do with it as i can't leave him here on his own.
He's now been living with us five years being spoilt and loved.

We then got Nero from a farm as the farmer had too many cats running around. He came as a kitten, we originally called him Missy as the farmer thought he was a girl.
That's was until we took him to the vets, who told us Missy was a Mr 😂

Yep you've definitely been chosen

lljkk · 18/10/2017 22:01

er, is that a tortoiseshell (calico) cat that OP is calling "He"?

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/10/2017 22:02

Sure it's a boy? Torties are normally girls.

Dh is very allergic to our cat but after a few weeks of daily antihistamines he got used to him. Now he only reacts if he touches the cat and then rubs his eye.

I'd want someone to feed my cat if he was lost.

Want2beme · 18/10/2017 22:05

Cricket's a beauty.

Here's my lovelies.

Tri coloured cats are girls as a rule.

Gingers are normally boys and lady gingers are/were valuable I believe.

FleurDelacourr · 18/10/2017 22:08

Oh yeah, Cricket is a girl, I just got used to thinking of her as he Blush I always think of cats as boys
