I'm horrified. Anyone else seen the footage? I genuinely like James Corden, or at least I did when he did Gavin and Stacey. What on earth was he thinking?!

OP posts:
Fanciedachange17 · 15/10/2017 23:01

Do not like Corden and always thought him self-satisfied and a deeply unpleasant personality. Hope it ends his career but it probably won't as he's already squealing for mercy.

Slimthistime · 15/10/2017 23:05

MissHannigan
The jokes by SNL criticise HW without referencing any specifics of what happened to his victims

I did like James Corden....

RJnomore1 · 15/10/2017 23:06

I didn't know don Johnstone moved Melanie griffiths in with him when he was 22 and she was14?

RosyPony · 15/10/2017 23:06

Oh dear god, America please don't send him back to us. I really dislike, I thought his 'humour' was very base and predictable, I've never seen the attraction.

Lweji · 15/10/2017 23:08

The 'jokes' were referencing what that slimeball made women do/watch, not in the slightest bit funny. They really were not making fun of Weinstien, but of the situations he put women in.

Exactly.

It's different to make a joke that he really belongs in jail.

Pastacube · 15/10/2017 23:09

he's not a comedian is he, just an actor. does he not have any advisors that maybe said this isn't a good idea?

Lweji · 15/10/2017 23:15

He wrote Gavin and Stacey with Ruth Jones, so not "just an actor".

RochelleGoyle · 15/10/2017 23:15

Corden has always been a vile little man. No idea why people find him funny. This has just shown him up for what he is.

TheRollingCrone · 15/10/2017 23:19

He's fucking awful. The steaming arrogance "if you don't like that joke, you can leave". Telling isn't it Ruth Jones made Gain & Stacey a huge hit - and he gets the Hollywood career. Well he did have a Hollywood career...

Montacute · 15/10/2017 23:24

He has a nightly talk show on US TV doesn't he? You'd think he'd have become more adept at reading the mood of a crowd.

Slimthistime · 15/10/2017 23:27

Pasta, he's half of American night time TV
he should know better regardless of anything anyone might have told him

ShellyBoobs · 15/10/2017 23:38

How anyone can think, even for a split second, that those 'jokes' were appropriate is beyond me.

I mean, at what point would someone think, "This joke about an alleged rapist and his victims will be fucking hilarious!"

Corden's utter cuntery is only exceeded by Weinstein's, it seems.

Urgh. Just fucking urgh.

HelenaDove · 15/10/2017 23:47

"He is an example of morbidly obese men who will not tolerate the slightest bit of fat on a woman"

Yep And unfortunately ive come across a few of these in my time.

exWifebeginsat40 · 16/10/2017 00:02

WAIT WAIT WAIT. attention: America

you can get to fuck, mate. we’re not having him back.

also, we’re going to be sending Peter Kay. try to make the best of it.

CockacidalManiac · 16/10/2017 00:11

Never, ever, seen his appeal.
I thought Gavin and Stacey was maudlin and sentimental shite.
Then he did that awful sketch show with Mathew Horne.
I don’t see how he’s become so famous.

AnnabelleLecter · 16/10/2017 00:29

Yuk! Vile man making sick unfunny jokes. Never been a fan of his anyway.

MistressDeeCee · 16/10/2017 00:34

He's a bigheaded twat who believed his own hype. "Smug" written all over him. Now that he's shown his ignorant misogyny alongside all that and rightly been castigated for it, lets hope he and his ego come back down to earth.

inabizzlefam · 16/10/2017 00:35

I have never understood how he got that late night show gig in the first place. A slightly funny chubby English bloke hosting a prime time usctv showHmm

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 16/10/2017 01:09

I've never liked Corden. Too try hard. I think he was going for the Ricky Gervais shock-humour effect (ala Golden Globes) but missed the mark spectacularly

Yes, the difference is Gervais is actually funny and has digs at people who deserve it, not jokes about victims.

James Corden is not funny. Granted Gavin and Stacey was bloody brilliant, but he’s not world class. He was vile to the legend that is Patrick Stewart when JC was still relevantly up and coming, arrogant sod. How he’s made it in America I’ll never know. I suspect an overweight average looking woman wouldn’t do as well across the pond (or even a slim one)

KoalaD · 16/10/2017 01:49

But if he had ignored it he would have been criticised.

No, he really wouldn't have.

MyKingdomForBrie · 16/10/2017 02:02

I have found my people!! I honestly thought I was alone in despising this arrogant self satisfied nasty prick. His behaviour to Patrick Stewart was disgraceful and I’m glad he’s shown himself up.

Unfortunately I think the majority are right in thinking this won’t hurt him in the long term.

Pivoine · 16/10/2017 02:19

He’s a dick who was trying to capitalise and use this misogynistic horror to his advantage in order to gain popularity. That in, and of itself is a truly vile act.

HelenaDove · 16/10/2017 02:33

Best thing about Gavin and Stacey was Alison Steadman.

Patrick Stewart is pure class. The way he handled his encounter with Cordon was classy and professional i bet PS is as disgusted about Cordens comments as we are.

DrKrogersfavouritepatient · 16/10/2017 07:01

best thing about Gavin and Stacey was Alison Steadman
Amen

SuburbanRhonda · 16/10/2017 07:10

If you have to explain why your "joke" wasn't offensive, it's offensive.
