James Corden's 'jokes' about Harry Weinstein...

I'm horrified. Anyone else seen the footage? I genuinely like James Corden, or at least I did when he did Gavin and Stacey. What on earth was he thinking?!

I think there is some value in joking about Weinstein when the jokes make him appear ridiculous and pathetic. Belittling and mockery really pisses off these arrogant predators, and therefore should be encouraged.

Papafran · 15/10/2017 21:54

still not OK to call him a pig though, just because he's not as slim as Rose McGowan or Asia Argento, or is it now OK to focus on someone's weight or looks when taking them to task?

He is a pig through and through as is Weinstein. I have no problem saying that Weinstein is a fat, ugly pig and I really couldn't care less if anyone calls this fat shaming. He told countless of beautiful actresses to lose weight to make them more attractive. He is an example of morbidly obese men who will not tolerate the slightest bit of fat on a woman.
Corden himself trades on his chubby image and to be fair, it does not seem to have held him back. I think Rose McGowan as a rape victim being made fun of has every right to call him a piglet and was in fact being quite restrained.

ImMissHannigan · 15/10/2017 21:54

I’m going to be controversial and go against the grain here. Other personalities have been criticised for not mentioning the subject. Corden has mentioned it in the only way he knows how. To make a joke. And he wasn’t criticising the victims. He was making fun of HW directly. He was never going to do a George Clooney or Emma Thompson and give a serious tweet/statement. He is a comedian and like him or not, his job is to make light of situations. And he did. It’s not a career ending act. He may of jumped the gun a bit. Maybe we weren’t quite ready for jokes. But if he had ignored it he would have been criticised. So give the comedian a break for making light.

RMC123 · 15/10/2017 21:55

His Twitter apology is predictable and pathetic. If he was so worried about offending then why tell the audience they should leave if they didn’t like it.
The most depressing thing is that none of them did.
We still have a long way to go...

Terfing · 15/10/2017 21:57

I hope his American career isn't over! That would mean that he'd come back here! Sad

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/10/2017 21:59

still not OK to call him a pig though, just because he's not as slim as Rose McGowan or Asia Argento, or is it now OK to focus on someone's weight or looks when taking them to task?

Can we call him a pig because he wallows in filth?

Nonibaloni · 15/10/2017 22:00

I think it's typically belittling of a serious situation.
But it's not career suicide, let remember that the Harvey Weinstein is a sexual predator and it did his career no harm.

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 15/10/2017 22:04

Really don't like him and the jokes are unfunny and tasteless - still not OK to call him a pig though

It is not ok to call him a pig, pigs are delightful creatures and he is vile.

wrenika · 15/10/2017 22:05

Isn't it said that any publicity is good publicity...we're all speaking about him because of his choice of joke, so it's kept him in attention far more than another joke would have.
...and they did make my laugh. A jokes a joke, at the expense of some perv. It's him that the jokes poking fun at, not any woman.

BabychamSocialist · 15/10/2017 22:05

I've never liked Corden. Anyone who ever read Popbitch will know why - his behaviour was a regular feature in the articles!

ReallyConvolutedCareerHistory · 15/10/2017 22:11

What the hell was thinking?

MrsOverTheRoad · 15/10/2017 22:15

I've NEVER liked James Corden. I think he got lucky....and now he's showing his true colours.

GabsAlot · 15/10/2017 22:19

i think your being a bit harsh its a joke at weinstein not th victims

why is it ok to call trump a pig and an abuser like many comedians do but not weinstein

just because trump hawsnt been caught yet

DrKrogersfavouritepatient · 15/10/2017 22:22

I can't bear him and this doesn't surprise me. I remember him making sleazy wank "jokes " when he introduced Rhianna at an award ceremony.

Freshprincess · 15/10/2017 22:27

Have just seen a comment on twitter that he has spelt behaviour the American way. So seems like he didn't even write his own apology.

passmethewineplease · 15/10/2017 22:28

I liked him in Gavin & Stacey but after that it seemed like he got a bit too big for his boots.

Now he just seems like a nob. This confirms it for me.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 15/10/2017 22:29

ImMiss

If Corden had presented this event the week after the Las Vegas shooting, would he have made jokes the murderer and would you have thought it was ok?
No, he bloody well wouldn't have. But it's ok to make jokes about a sex offender and rapist in the week tens of women are finally been able to talk openly about what this animal did to them?

coconuttella · 15/10/2017 22:33

From what I've read, Weinstein is the butt of these jokes and the one being mocked, not the women involved. He's got into such trouble as it's all too raw. Had he made these jokes in a couple of months, no one would have batted an eyelid.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 15/10/2017 22:33

I'll probably get deleted for this, but I don't care, if anything this week has shown that we should be able to talk about how famous people actually behave.
In the business Corden is known for having affairs and having a Coke habit. He's a cunt.

Lweji · 15/10/2017 22:37

This is how you do Harvey Weinstein jokes.

MillicentFawcett · 15/10/2017 22:43

He's always been a total prick

Willow2017 · 15/10/2017 22:44

The 'jokes' were referencing what that slimeball made women do/watch, not in the slightest bit funny. They really were not making fun of Weinstien, but of the situations he put women in. Huge misjudgement trying to get a cheap laugh at victims expense.

Garlicansapphire · 15/10/2017 22:45

He's not funny anyway. Cant stand him.

ImMissHannigan · 15/10/2017 22:47

@Lweji those guys are funny. But what makes them okay and not corden. It is personal taste. Either you can joke about it or you can’t. No in between. We can’t draw a line because your line and mine might be different.

PoorYorick · 15/10/2017 22:57

I've always hated him. I'm so glad I finally know why.
