Is DD being unreasonable

DD wants to give up her part time job (she is at college.)

She says it is too much going to college 5 days a week and then working in the evening for three days and at the weekend. She is exhausted and says her college work is suffering.

I don't know. I can see her POV but she was earning over £200 a week and I can't afford to give her that.

I would suggest she does a couple more weeks and saves the money. She doesn't need clothes and shoes every week etc. Essentials is bus fare and lunch. She needs to find something for less hrs and I would compromise by paying fares and lunches let her find the rest from the fewer hrs.

They are v shortsighted if they are short staffed or busy and won't let her cut her hrs if she is a reliable worker etc but she needs to stop working so much for sure.

If she is living at home and all she is costing is buses £4 and lunch say £4 a day you are not doing too badly.

I'm a full time college student, I get £20 a week of my mum for bus fare. I take food from home. We aren't 'expensive' at this age. She doesn't need jack wills, hollister, bare minerals e.t.c. As they're all overpriced and you can get cheaper versions at the same or better quality. Fair enough if she has no job she will need bus money but you don't have to cover that sort of stuff! You wouldn't ever need to give her more than £30 a week! No 16/17/18 year old spends £200 on stuff they need! And if she wants a bit extra tell her to do jobs around the house for you or something

I worked all through a levels. My parents didn't give me any money so how was I supposed to afford going out, clothes, make up etc?

I can't believe the poster saying £40 a month is sufficient. That's £10 a week

Posted too soon- in terms of your daughter it's not long until Christmas so I'd suggest she waits to reduce hours then
