... A bit upset to be referred to, by a 3rd party, as 'huge'?

Just this....

Someone referred to me as this... You'll recognise her.. She's the huge girl...

Apart from rudeness... At what size does someone become 'huge'.. I appreciate it's all relative etc etx...

PS I'm an (in proportion) size 18-20 and 5 foot 8. So to me tallish and curvy...

And fwiw I have no issue with shoes or staircases. People also need to remember what a difference height makes. The 5’5 women said at 14 she’s still just in the obese category. I was well into the normal when I was wearing a 14

Gizmo79 · 11/10/2017 11:19

Everyone knows being overweight isn't great for health, it's not exactly news is it.
I don't have an issue with people carrying a few extra pounds, the only time I worry about people's weight is when you see whole families who are obese- because the children are being set up for a life of potential long term health issues, and often the parents really don't see it.
As adults, it is your own decision pretty much. If you want to lose the weight, then do, if not then as long as you are aware of the risks and damage that may be caused, then don't.

FairyDogMother11 · 11/10/2017 11:19

There's a bloke who comes into work and he always asks "where's the really big girl today?" And I always respond that I don't know who he's talking about, because when he eventually remembers her name it turns out she's one of my best friends. She has any number of distinguishing features that put her aside from my other colleagues so I don't know why he persists in using her size as a description. Bloody hate serving him, such a twat.

Birdsgottafly · 11/10/2017 11:20

Just to add, it shouldn't have been said.

Personal descriptions should always be avoided. They always remind me of the Little Britain college sketch.

MarthaArthur · 11/10/2017 11:20

Op that person was so rude saying that to you. Even if they have their own thought on your size its rude to say it in a nasty way.

And sloe well done on the weight loss thats a huge acheivement Flowers

AnnieAnoniMouse · 11/10/2017 11:20

I’m 5 ft 2. To me, 5 ft 8 is huge. You don’t see too many women of that height where I live

BitchyRestingFace. Where the hell fo you live that 5' 8 is huge? I'm not quite 5ft, but definitely don't consider people 5' 8 'huge' 😂

fishonabicycle · 11/10/2017 11:21

I would describe Brienne of Tarth as huge - for me it would mean really tall and big build rather than overweight.

Gizmo79 · 11/10/2017 11:21

Smurfville?😂😂

SloeSloeQuickQuickGin · 11/10/2017 11:21

5' 2" is Liliputian!

Dextersilver

Your attitude and opinions are fucking gross

guilty100 · 11/10/2017 11:23

Of course it's hurtful! And rude! Flowers for you.

dexter - you're just being really horrible.

Mooncuplanding · 11/10/2017 11:23

The definition of huge is extremely large.

It is true that size 20 is extremely large. I also understand this is hurtful to hear, but coming out of denial is always hurtful and emotional. Always. But also the only way change can happen.

I don't know what you want people to say OP? Do you want people to say you are not huge? Size 20 is huge. Anyone who says it isn't is either lying. Or in denial.

This is not about shaming you, its your life, you deserve to be treated with respect, but if you are huge, you are huge and occasionally people may remark on this.

PetalMettle · 11/10/2017 11:24

5’2 is 2inches shorter than the average British woman, so hardly Lilliputian

ButchyRestingFace · 11/10/2017 11:24

Well, that’s your prerogative. 🙂

I wouldn’t consider a 5’ 8 male to be tall but a 5’ 8 female is getting on for really rather statuesque in my experience.

As for a 5’ 8 female on heels...

I would argue there's a self hatred crisis actually and that's why people abuse substances. Also why people shame others. Makes them feel better about their own inadequacies. Is also say that about whoever originally said the 'huge' thing. 'othering' as a way of confirming your own worth.

I though it was 5’ 5?

Do we be shrinking?

Wow. There's a lot of people on this thread that are really fucking rude.

There is absolutely no call for the original person to use such an emotive and rude descriptor of her. And the OP certainly did not ask for weight loss advice or judgements off internet randomers on this thread.

Is it 5’5? Google threw up 5 foot and 4.2 inches.
