To really appreciate my DH after all the horror stories here?

Not a TAAT but inspired by all the women who's husbands/partners are selfish arseholes. I was reading several threads this afternoon and told my DH just how much I appreciate him. We share all household and baby responsibilities and he's respectful and thoughtful. I don't want to sound like I'm boasting, but I'm genuinely feeling incredibly lucky to have met such a wonderful man. So this is raising a glass to all the wonderful men out there who are brilliant partners and fathers

It's good that you appreciate your dh. Look after each other. In my head I know such marriages exist, I'm just so sceptical now!

Yes indeed, he has his faults as do I but he is a pretty awesome human being.

YANBU but at the same time you're not "lucky" that your DH pulls his weight equally with you. That's not a privilege - it's a normal expectation and standard that everyone deserves in a relationship.

Key to happiness is appriciating what you've got imho.

I'm sat eating chicken dippers with DH before our gaming session. I took a nap earlier as the kids were being mad, just left him to it. I scrubbed his back when he had his sat afternoon bath. It's not 5* luxery with cumberland sauce but it does us.

Ah I feel like that about my DH, he is sometimes grumpy, impossible and irritating, but he's kind, considerate, generous, funny, affectionate, hard working, pulls his weight around the house and actively supports me in my career even though it means spending time away from home and dragging him out at silly o clock to take me to the train station or collect me. He has cancer and is depressed at the moment, and I am devastated because I can't imagine life without him.

Definitely. I can relate to a lot of the threads about rubbish partners as I had a crappy ex who was very selfish, I thank my lucky stars we didn't have kids and that I got away from him reading some threads on here! DP does his fair share of childcare and housework, and at the moment I'm pregnant and struggling, so he's doing most of the housework, gets up early at the weekends with DD so I can lie in, sends me for naps or baths when I'm shattered and achey. I frequently tell him how ace he is and how much I appreciate all that he does for our little family!

I really appreciate mine too. I read so many awful stories and am really thankful.

But that's not to say I dont appreciate my DH because I absolutely do. He's a genuinely lovely person, good sense of humour, amd would help anyone. Plus he's absolutely gorgeous.

I was just thinking this after lurking on a thread about one of those bastard husbands. I feel so awful for the posters who are with these men.
DP might drive me mad sometimes but he's the best partner and father I could wish for. Nice to see some of us are in very happy relationships

I agree with the PP who says that happiness is appreciating what you have got. We might be poor as church mice and bursting at the seams of our house but we're happy and healthy and that's worth a lot

I had a shit DH. Left, and later met my lovely OH. We do love appreciate and respect each other. I don't know that I'd tell him I'm "lucky" to have him tho. Sounds too much like putting on a pedestal/bestowing sainthood. I do occasionally tell him I'm glad I met him. He says likewise. 'Lucky' sounds odd to me. But if you're happy, that's the main thing

We went to a party this afternoon to celebrate a 60th wedding anniversary and as the couple stood there talking about their lives I thought "I truly hope that DH and I reach this point" because he's a good guy.

He pisses me off and occasionally does ridiculous shit when he's unsupervised (like turning everyone's white school shirts pink by washing them with a bright red t-shirt then standing wide-eyed at the door of the washing machine saying "I thought they'd invented clothes that didn't do that any more - this is something that used to happen in the 80's") but he's great. Just great.

I love this thread.

My husband is literally the best human that I’ve ever met.
He’s so patient, intelligent, funny, works hard, great dad, thoughtful. He listens more than he speaks. He thinks of others before himself. And he has the kindest heart of anyone I know.

Every time my phone pings I hope it’s him. A great person and an amazing husband. So so lucky!

Same here though it's 2nd time lucky. Still paying for the error in judgement first time round.
