To hate a much loved film with so much passion

I hate the fucking annoying, saccharine voiceover at the opening airport scene
I hate Emma Thompsons irritating character and hammy acting
I hate Hugh Grants insistence on playing himself
I hate how we're supposed to find Martines character so salt of the earth and endearing- shes fucking annoying
I hate the Liam Neeson storyline and his weird relationship with his weird woolly haired kid who should be getting a life
Im left unmoved by Laura Linney
I absolutely cannt stand Keira Knightleys faux coy girlish smile and that entire weird stalker relationship
I can just about stomach Mr Darcy and his Portuguese squeeze...JUST ABOUT
Bill Nighy - once you've seen the song performed once you're like...whatever...zzzzzz

I find the whole film absolutely sick making and toe curling and yet every Christmas DM forces us to watch it.

Damian Lewis was meant to be punching above his weight by marrying her, when clearly he was - and is - an uber hunk who could have anyone he wanted

Not me!

The80sweregreat · 06/10/2017 15:41

Home alone parents should have been locked up.

NinonDeLenclos · 06/10/2017 15:41

Dreadful. Seen it once, never again.

Would also add Mama Mia and Titanic to the list.

BakerCandlestickmaker · 06/10/2017 15:41

Muppet Christmas Carol is one of my favourites at Christmas. I love it more each time!

NinonDeLenclos · 06/10/2017 15:43

Not me!

Me neither. And he did actually try it on with me. He went out with a friend of mine.

Never trust a man with a mouth like a bumhole.

rookiemere · 06/10/2017 15:43

Oh yes the80s - DS went through a Home Alone phase a couple of years ago, and whilst I enjoyed the films, the parents were bloody awful and deserved a full social services investigation.

ShatnersWig · 06/10/2017 15:44

The80s No, they weren't poor parents who lived on run down council estates. They weren't well off Americans. Or well off doctors on holiday in Portugal.

ShatnersWig · 06/10/2017 15:44

*were, obviously

NinonDeLenclos · 06/10/2017 15:44

Oh and LaLaLand - one of the most over-rated films in history.

DeadGood · 06/10/2017 15:44

OP, I agree with you, but I find it amazing that you think you are the only one.
People have written articles about how bad the film is, it's hardly news.

rookiemere · 06/10/2017 15:46

Really Ninon am so jealous.
Can't believe everyone doesn't have exactly the same taste as me !

Christmas films I actually love are - Arthur Christmas, Nativity(the first one) and The Sound of Music. Oh and I know it's not a film, but its brilliant when they do a new Poirot or other Agatha Christie drama.

blackteasplease · 06/10/2017 15:47

Loads of people hate that film, don't they? Certainly on mn they do.

I hate the film Amelia a lot.

I like the fact you just said Mr Darcy!

Madonna9 · 06/10/2017 15:47

I love these horrible movies a few days per month Grin

blackteasplease · 06/10/2017 15:47

I adore Muppet Christmas Carol. We watch every year in my family

rookiemere · 06/10/2017 15:48

Oh and I actually loved the first Bridget Jones film and the most recent one was surprisingly funny.

LemonDrizzler · 06/10/2017 15:48

YANBU

I hate that film and everyone seems to love it! Why is Keira Knightley kissing weird stalker best friend after being married about 10 minutes? It’s hardly adorable that he is sleazing on his best mate’s wife. I don’t get it. And don’t get me started on the “chubby” PM’s assistant. Awful film.

The80sweregreat · 06/10/2017 15:49

Worst film i have ever watched is Boyhood.
Complete wankery rubbish.
Do not watch this film.

Garlicansapphire · 06/10/2017 15:51

To be fair most of those films by Richard Curtis are bollocks. And most mainstream British ones full of over-acting luvvies in slight comedies and middle class dramas.... Dont get me started...

Ironfloor · 06/10/2017 15:51

I absolutely HATE that movie, too.

Ironfloor · 06/10/2017 15:52

Love Actually, I mean.

Jiggler · 06/10/2017 15:53

I don't see the problem with the 'chubby girl' comment in Love Actually. The woman saying it was being purposely bitchy. As happens in real life.

Jiggler · 06/10/2017 15:54

Oh Amelie is one of the worst films of all time. Sickly sweet twee shit.

BakerCandlestickmaker · 06/10/2017 15:56

Even Michael Caine pleases me in Muppet Christmas Carol! I've never liked him in anything else.

NinonDeLenclos · 06/10/2017 15:59

Really Ninon am so jealous

Don't be, he did it with everyone.

Muppet Christmas Carol is ace.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 06/10/2017 16:08

YABVVVVU

I LOVE Love Actually! and Muppets Xmas Carol - ooh getting excited about xmas now!!
