She's been on a day trip with school to Amsterdam - up at 2 am this morning. Flight just landed, probably 2 hours until she gets home. She can stay home tomorrow can't she?

She’s going to be a right one if she thinks she can pull a sickie at the slightest thing.

In what way would she be pulling a sickie?

Actually I know many, many people who work 76 hour days, 9 days a week, 66 weeks a year. After having their heads amputated, too

-And think themselves lucky to have a job into the bargain

Oh ffs, yeah, and that's just the type of world we should be aiming for our DC to live in Hmm not

I work 12 hour shifts and it's poo. Very difficult at times, in fact. I know many have it a lot easier and I don't 'count my lucky stars at all'. I stay because it does have some added benefits, in all fairness

Eh yes you wouldn't be expected to work after all those hours.

Are you kidding me? I don't get home until 21:15, in bed at 22:30, up at 05:00 to repeat the cycle. 6.5 hours sleep between 13.5 hour shifts is the norm for me! I've gone to work on as little as 3 hours sleep before....

ACAS - (For those comparing to work) 11 consecutive hours' rest in any 24-hour period.

Oh god that made me snort with laughter! As a shift worker I'm exempt. That's why I ended up working 07:00 - 01:00 without any breaks on Tuesday and I only get 10.5 hours rest between shifts if I get away on time!

you wouldn't be expected to work after all those hours.

You wouldn't be expected to work for no pay and take work to do at home either so I'm not sure school and work are comparable
