Hartley Hare and Pipkins - am I the oldest Mumsnetter in the world?

There is another thread where a chaperone gave a child with SN a toy rat to keep them quiet. I read the thread and was appalled and yet comforted by the pictures of the rat. Didn't want to hijack that thread but it reminded me of Hartley Hare, who was a terrifyingly bad puppet in a kids show in my youth. The show was called Pipkins I think and included Topov the Monkey and a tortoise, whose name I can't remember.

Am I the oldest and/or most disturbed MNer? As, while Hartley terrified me he also brought joy to my heart because he was such a bad little shit! I think 70s kids TV may have been dominated by people on some sort of recreational substances to be fair.

Topov was called Topov because he lived on top of the wardrobe / cupboard IIRC

DaisyDrip · 04/10/2017 16:26

^^ I remember, it was Busy Lizzie. She used to say "izzie wizzie lets get busy" then make the wish.

I'm old!

Germgirl · 04/10/2017 16:27

Hartley looked like he had mange.
Half of the Playschool toys were manky too. There clearly wasn't a huge budget for props for kids TV programmes in the 70s

Ahhh this thread is bringing back memories 😁

Issi Noho

Rupert Bear (I was terrified of Raggety the stick man in the woods)

Potty Time terrified me too.

The Woofits.... Grandma, Grandpa, Gaylord, Athelstone, John Willie, Lavinia, Angela, Elton and Gershwin the dog.

Happy memories 😁

iklboo · 04/10/2017 16:32

I thought 'izzy wizzy' was in Sooty?

bigbluebus · 04/10/2017 16:33

I'm afraid to say that I remember most of these tv programmes. Can I give a shout out for Bill and Ben the Flowerpot men and also The Woodentops.

liz70 · 04/10/2017 16:35

Fuckinell, that hare makes me want to cry now, and I'm 47.

YoureAnArseholeDenise · 04/10/2017 16:35

Anyone remember the Little Mole? Czech cartoon? I remember crying inconsolably for hours when some bees stole his lollipop 😳

NearLifeExperience · 04/10/2017 16:36

Not forgetting Crystal Tips and Alastair, and Teddy Edwards

MargotLovedTom1 · 04/10/2017 16:37

I can still remember Hartley's voice....a bit like David Mitchell's Grin.

One of my favourites was Bod, and the frog with the milkshake.

Chorlton & the Wheelies was fucking sinister.

DaisyDrip · 04/10/2017 16:38

I thought 'izzy wizzy' was in Sooty?

Nooooo that was Sooty, Sweep and Su. Buzy Lizzie was on BBC Sooty on ITV.

NearLifeExperience · 04/10/2017 16:38

Oh and Calimero, a black chick with half an eggshell on his head who was always complaining that it wasn't fair.

itstheyearzero · 04/10/2017 16:39

Yes Trinity! And Blimey a PP also remembers Issi Noho. Nobody EVER remembers that programme apart from me! Smile

FrLukeDuke · 04/10/2017 16:39

Yes i remember Pipkins. I'm 46

mrswhiplington · 04/10/2017 16:40

Loved all of these programmes, especially Tales of the Riverbank, Bill and Ben, Sooty and Sweep. The highlight of the day would be my parents putting the TV on. It was actually exciting.Grin And when we got a colour TV it was like Christmas had come early. How times have changed.

SideOrderofSprouts · 04/10/2017 16:41

Hectors house. Bill and Ben. I loved watch with mother

YoureAnArseholeDenise · 04/10/2017 16:41

Actually Izzy Whizzy lets get busy WAS in the Sooty show.

DaisyDrip · 04/10/2017 16:42

The Woodentops with Spotty dog.

Willow2017 · 04/10/2017 16:42

Hartley hate was terrifying. His voice, his due, his face and his whole demeanour.

I absolutely loved Potty Time was so clever and harious. Michael Bentine was a genius.

And I also 'listened with mother' and 'watched with mother'. The Woodentops and Pogles Wood were my favourites.😀

DaisyDrip · 04/10/2017 16:43

Actually Izzy Whizzy lets get busy WAS in the Sooty show.

Well actually I apologise, I thought it was part of watch with mother.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 04/10/2017 16:43

The Woofits.... Grandma, Grandpa, Gaylord, Athelstone, John Willie, Lavinia, Angela, Elton and Gershwin the dog.

Nobody I have ever spoken to remembers the Woofits! I seem to remember they were created by Michael Parkinson - I do Know that i had a Woofit lunchbox with a matching flask and various notebooks and pencils.
