How would you feel if your 16 year old DS wanted to become a 'young conservative'

That is all!
Opinions please.

I was not commenting on the level of nurses pay in Finland, rather that there s less of a gap between nurses and care assistants in The uk rather than Finland, which rather means that in that instance the uk appears more equitable.
In some cases unqualified staff actually earn more than qualified here.

Mrsbird311 · 05/10/2017 07:58

I was a young conservative, one of the best things I ever did, made friends for life and had the best social life!!!
I’d be very happy

liverbird10 · 05/10/2017 08:08

I'd sell him/her on eBay.

ShotsFired · 05/10/2017 08:37

Shouldn't you just give him away in the true spirit of comradeship?

eBay sounds a bit too capitalist for your taste surely? Wink Grin

BertrandRussell · 05/10/2017 08:38

"Off topic but Millie we do call schools high schools in England."

My son has just left one in England!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/10/2017 08:39

What do we call them if not high schools?

Fekko · 05/10/2017 08:41

Secondary? BIg school? Grammar, academy, upper...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/10/2017 08:44

Yes but surely 'high' school is the general term for all of those? Big school Grin

Fekko · 05/10/2017 08:49

I think Big School is the correct term, as used by current education secretary. I could be wrong though.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 05/10/2017 08:59

If my DS announced he wanted to become a 'young conservative', I'd assume he had misspoken and meant to say 'young conservationist'.

Natsku · 05/10/2017 09:54

Paying unqualified more than qualified isn't more equitable though, smaller gaps yes but not having the pay the wrong way round.

Oldie2017 · 05/10/2017 10:01

Big school just means aged 5 primary for most people. High school is American but some English state schools use the term. Secondary school is what most people in the UK call an 11+ school.

Natsku · 05/10/2017 10:03

Actually I'm not sure that's right unless I'm looking at the wrong numbers for the UK but they say average care assistant salary is around 18k and nurses start at 22k while nurse and care assistant pay in Finland differs by a couple of hundred euros a month making the yearly difference a couple of thousand, three at most. So smaller difference. All are qualified though.

Natsku · 05/10/2017 10:05

Scratch that, I got it wrong, too many different kinds of nurse in Finland! Hospital nurses get paid between 400 and 700 more so you were right, sorry!

JoffreyBaratheon · 05/10/2017 10:51

After yesterday's farce, I'd ask him why he wants to be associated with something so laughable and shambolic.

beCreativeInitiate · 05/10/2017 10:56

@JoffreyBaratheon

As opposed to the cringeworthy idolisation at the Labour Party Conference?

Not all young are after a Marxist revolution.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/10/2017 10:58

After yesterday's farce, I'd ask him why he wants to be associated with something so laughable and shambolic.

I don't think the Labour Party and their issues can take any high ground tbh.

Restingwitchface · 05/10/2017 11:39

OH god they are all awful :-(

Honestly who on earth are we supposed to vote for

Corbyn and Momentum and the stupid chanting and mob rule is just as bad as hapless Theresa May and her bunch of chuckleheads. All terrible.

liverbird10 · 05/10/2017 14:52

@ShotsFired I knew that was coming as soon ask hit the post button. Grin

liverbird10 · 05/10/2017 14:52

As I, not ask. Autocorrect fail.
