To think Boden have made a huge mistake.

They've just put out a new mum video, showing lots of successful instagrammers and their children head to toe in Boden.

However, these IG people and children are rarely dressed in Boden, if ever.

But just because they've got a lot of followers Boden hand it all out to people who don't actually treasure the brand.

There are 100s of dedicated Boden mums who treasure every piece of Boden, why can't Boden ever reward their loyal customers rather than give it out to people who don't even buy it.

I know a lot of people are outraged about this. When I look at IG I search the #bodenbyme and always see lots of normal families without 300k followers dressing their littlies in Boden. It's a shame that brand lovers never are appreciated when they are what keep the business going, if I was Johnnie I'd be getting hold of these families and working together to promote real Boden loving Mums and not just people who are in it for the cash or freebies.

How much bloody Boden are you buying?

SplendidIsolation Most don't. You should read some of the older threads on MN. I think the received wisdom on MN is that Boden is the younger sister of Per Una - and both brands are about covertly signalling that you no longer have sex.

Mrsknackered · 02/10/2017 21:05

danceswithwarthogs I wish mine would settle for that. DS1 is still giving me dirty looks for refusing a paw patrol tracksuit, socks and chase & rocky pumps (he did get the socks)

Once upon a time OP, my first used to always have clothes from Jojo, zara, etc and then I realised that no one gives a shit, clothes get ruined and the mum's at baby group still judged me.

Ds2 lives out of the Morrison's girl section.

Spudlet · 02/10/2017 21:05

Joules is alright, as long as you go in the sales and take a machete to hack your way through the flowery tat to get to the normal looking stuff. Their wellies are awful though, they split at the drop of a hat.

I've looked at Boden a few times, but it all seems rather boring and expensive.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 02/10/2017 21:06

Boden sucks

Give me Zara any day (albeit XL)

BarbarianMum · 02/10/2017 21:06

What even is "a successful Instagram mum"? Confused I swear I sometimes feel like I live in a different century to most people.

plantsitter · 02/10/2017 21:07

Are you trying to get on Mumsnet Madness? 'Cos it won't be long.

Schmoopy · 02/10/2017 21:07

Who is Johnnie?
Who is MP?

(Serious questions).

I don't think I've ever read anything as utterly bewildering as this.

I'm once again reminded that some people are fucking ridiculous.

thecatfromjapan · 02/10/2017 21:07

I realise my last post sounded a bit harsh. To expand: there were a few, long threads about Boden and Per Una on MN and people really discussed it, and there was a bit more nuance but ... basically, it was all about being "fun" and not, you know, anyone who might be perceived as up for it.

They're clearly not clothes you go dogging in, for example, and they kind of say that.

Miserylovescompany2 · 02/10/2017 21:08

I'm forever receiving £10 off vouchers as I'm Boden obsessed

backs away from thread after having already been on their site mere minutes ago

Waytoogo · 02/10/2017 21:08

I'm not too sure what you're talking about OP.

I like Boden too. But my occasional £10 voucher (sometimes £15 if I've kept my nerve and not ordered for a while) makes me feel suitably cherished.

thecatfromjapan · 02/10/2017 21:09

WHO IS MP?

(Johnnie is Johnnie Boden, erstwhile impressario of the jolly, patterned skirt, blouse, trousers, dress, etc.)

Softkitty2 · 02/10/2017 21:09

Omg. The OPs replies are painful to read.

engineersthumb · 02/10/2017 21:10

This thread has taken a turn... unhealthy obsession with overpriced baby clothes to dogging! Each to their own!

welliesandpuddles · 02/10/2017 21:10

Mother Lukka

OP posts:
paxillin · 02/10/2017 21:10

I now have a mental image of middle class, middle aged, middle sized women in Boden wrap dresses dogging in an industrial car park, thecatfromjapan Grin.

thecatfromjapan · 02/10/2017 21:11

Thanks, Wellies.

Can I ask who Mother Pukka is?

(I'm guessing Lukka was an auto-correct.)

thecatfromjapan · 02/10/2017 21:12

paxillin Shock

No!

No! No! No!

That is exactly what you are not supposed to think!

Stop! Right now!

Pahahaha. Nail. Head.

Miserylovescompany2 · 02/10/2017 21:12

Baby Boden clothes have an excellent resale value on eBay it helps fund my obsession

Spudlet · 02/10/2017 21:13

pax I don't think it would be anywhere so low rent as an industrial car park. Surely a National Trust car park would be more appropriate for the Boden dogging crowd. Grin

JaniceBattersby · 02/10/2017 21:14

OP, please don't spend £850 on newborn clothes. My children have all been out of newborn size within four weeks and there's no way, even if they'd worn a new outfit every day, they'd have even got through that many clothes. At least buy some in different sizes.

Also did you, perchance, get married in Maui?

VinoTime · 02/10/2017 21:14

You treasure Boden? Confused

But ... but... but... it's 93% overpriced cack, OP! I'll concede the other 7% to their children's duffle coats and some of their Christmas bits. They are usually lovely.

Back away from the poisonous social media, have some wine and await your Boden vouchers/discount codes, of which, there are always too fucking many. Arf. Stoopid Johnnie.

paxillin · 02/10/2017 21:15

Yes, perhaps a view point for the dogging. It has added some unexpected spice to an otherwise beige brand for me.
