To think Boden have made a huge mistake.

They've just put out a new mum video, showing lots of successful instagrammers and their children head to toe in Boden.

However, these IG people and children are rarely dressed in Boden, if ever.

But just because they've got a lot of followers Boden hand it all out to people who don't actually treasure the brand.

There are 100s of dedicated Boden mums who treasure every piece of Boden, why can't Boden ever reward their loyal customers rather than give it out to people who don't even buy it.

I know a lot of people are outraged about this. When I look at IG I search the #bodenbyme and always see lots of normal families without 300k followers dressing their littlies in Boden. It's a shame that brand lovers never are appreciated when they are what keep the business going, if I was Johnnie I'd be getting hold of these families and working together to promote real Boden loving Mums and not just people who are in it for the cash or freebies.

Not that I'm indulging this, but using mummy bloggers is their nod to using 'normal mums'.

Eminybob · 02/10/2017 22:22

There are millions of people for some reason who wear Boden in this country. Who decides who is worthy enough to be in their campaign?

WarwickDavisAsPlates · 02/10/2017 22:22

Wouldn't the people who really love their Boden "pieces" be those who struggle to afford them? If you can easily drop £850 on clothes surely they'd be less special than to someone who has to save up for one coat?

steff13 · 02/10/2017 22:23

This model right here is definitely ok. Halo

To think Boden have made a huge mistake.
welliesandpuddles · 02/10/2017 22:23

They could mix it up and add new people in each season.

Just to see a nod to non famous Mums would have been nice, that's all.

Boden has worked harder than anyone else to get their brand image out there. It took them about 15 years to actually do a photo shoot indoors, such was their desire to be outdoorsy and rosy cheeked (kids bouncing on double beds in the middle of orchards Confused).

I've gone off Boden at the moment, got a catalogue this morning with my name on the front and that felt so desperado I just lobbed it in the recycling. Shame really because I usually have something Boden on every day (today it's socks) but I never throw anything away so am coming round to the idea that if I'm going to keep something for 25 years then it might as well be from Brora.

I noticed John Lewis are selling Boden now (online at least). Seemed odd to me as I doubt they'll do the perma discounts and the whole Boden business model seems to be based on pretending they are more expensive than they actually are and you're getting a bargain.

welliesandpuddles · 02/10/2017 22:23

Who said I do not save for my Boden order?

What even is "a successful Instagram mum"? I swear I sometimes feel like I live in a different century to most people.

Hallelujah I am not alone.

Please could someone link to a famous instamum/instagram mum? I need to see what one of these mums look like. I am so in the dark age.

welliesandpuddles · 02/10/2017 22:25

Next are also doing Boden now.

Johnnie Boden is a fucking terrifying stalker. I once bought a sweater from them and the next thing I knew he was sending me messages every few days. It was doing my head in so I looked into getting a restraining order but my solicitor suggested unsubscribing and that seemed to get him to back off. I still wonder whether he is out there though.

GetOutOfMYGarden · 02/10/2017 22:27

Zebra31, someone like Louise Pentland is an internet famous mum, she's more youtube/blogging famous though www.instagram.com/louisepentland/?hl=en

parkednearby · 02/10/2017 22:28

How come I've been a mum for the best part of 20 years without having gone anywhere near Boden?

GirlInterruptedOftenByKids · 02/10/2017 22:28

I was in the university drama society with motherpukka. Just thought I'd drop it in there. #inspiration #unstealthboast

I'm also a blogger and me and my kids have promoted stuff we don't use every day. Including a yogurt maker when I try to avoid dairy (FYI it made amazing yogurt but I felt rough as heck the next day)

Bloggers promote stuff. It's the only perk of slogging away at a blog for years and writing posts that at first are only read by your immediate family

Zebra31 · 02/10/2017 22:28

Thank you GetOutOfMyGarden. Off to do some research.

pigeondujour · 02/10/2017 22:29

Yeah, the women's clothes are a state in my opinion, but some people love that whole Breton top mum thing because of what it's meant to signify I think.

WarwickDavisAsPlates · 02/10/2017 22:29

Wellies my assumption was based on you implying that you had loads of boden stuff. If you're struggling for money you surely wouldn't be able to afford to be a particularly loyal customer.

Also even if it would be "nice" of them to reward actual customers it's not going to make them much, if any, money is it? So what's the attraction for them to do it?

whattobeexpected · 02/10/2017 22:31

I agree OP!!!!!
I have to restrain myself every time I see the beautiful cara delevingne in an advert. LIKE I too have eyebrows? That I love, no scrap that cherish!
This thread is hilarious btw! 😂

Largebucket · 02/10/2017 22:32

It's funny, no one seems to pick up the phone any more - it's all convos by text and the day to day drivel of normal life comes from these randoms instead

welliesandpuddles · 02/10/2017 22:32

It's not about freebies. BUt why can't there be an occasional picture of some children not advertising posted on their pages.

liverbird10 · 02/10/2017 22:33

What a crazy-arsed thread. Quite hilarious!

thecatfromjapan · 02/10/2017 22:33

Thanks GetOut.

Pleae will someone link to MakkaPakka/MotherPukka/Mutthawhatever?

SillyMoomin · 02/10/2017 22:34

Ummm are you ok op?!

You seem... cray cray for the Boden-ay

welliesandpuddles · 02/10/2017 22:35

I just feel it's sad that real Bodeners are overlooked.

Oh well, who cares. Not you lot...

OP posts:
WarwickDavisAsPlates · 02/10/2017 22:37

But posting pictures of children wearing their clothing would be advertising wouldn't it?

FlindersKeepers · 02/10/2017 22:37

Boden sells very well over here in Germany to people who are not standard German issue, i.e. tall, smaller chest, straight hips, flat bottom, which tends to be the shape the local market caters for.
Especially as the local Evans equipment starts at size 12.
The exchange rate is a bonus.

I like bits from them, but head to toe anything is a bit much, so seeing someone who isn't classic Boden in their stuff mixing it in is more interesting to me.
