Crushed velvet sofas/beds/curtains.

Also wooden letters in the kitchen/bathroom that's say 'Cook'/'Bath' etc telling you what each room is for.

While I'm at it- wall 'art' (stickers) with cheesy phrases.

I don't mind velvet especially (although I don't have it in my house) but I'm totally with you on the letters and annoying phrases.

ShirleyPhallus · 01/10/2017 09:21

I just spat out my tea!

Oh come on now. No you didn't.

hollyisalovelyname · 01/10/2017 09:21

I'm with Crunchtime.
All this grey!!!
Outside can be grey enough thank you very much. Smile

echt · 01/10/2017 09:22

These threads are always quite nasty. Poking fun at other people’s choices. Let’s see pictures of your decor then op??

Not the point.

verynaiceham · 01/10/2017 09:22

@ihatethecold My home decor is awful so will not be posting any photos on here! I'm not saying my home is lovely. Merely pointing out the current trends that seem to very popular at the minute aren't to my taste.

OP posts:
LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 01/10/2017 09:22

ihatethecold I agree. These threads are bloody bitchy, everyone has different taste and everyone hates something that's life. I do have a bathe ornament in my bathroom and grey in 2 bedrooms I couldn't give 2 shits what anyone else thinks.

Your house is amazing yes op?

Ollivander84 · 01/10/2017 09:22

Oops. I just did my hallway grey AND got light switch surrounds which everyone hates too Grin

verynaiceham · 01/10/2017 09:23

@LolaTheDarkdestroyer No it's terrible. I just don't like the current trends

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 01/10/2017 09:23

Grey. It always looks dreadful, dull and depressing.

But I must admit I like a bit of velvet, it has its place. I want a plush, vibrant velvet sofa one day.

tippz · 01/10/2017 09:23

Let's face it, the people who buy these type of things, are the same people who have tattoos on their shoulder that say 'Tyrone - 12-01-99' and 'Chardonnay - 11-03-01' aren't they? Wink

Crushed velvet is the devil's work. It looks nasty.

How about a nice crushed velvet dress? Grin

PenelopeFlintstone · 01/10/2017 09:23

That sofa, apart from being grey (shite), crushed velvet (shiter) is the same fucking sofa you see in every sodding Australian house
Do you just mean modular sofas? They are everywhere in Australia but my sister has them in the UK. They're just everywhere, aren't they? Or are they unusual in the UK?

Trills · 01/10/2017 09:24

I'd really enjoy stroking a velvet sofa.

I am agin decorations with words on, but I'll make an exception for @MrsSchadenfreude because I like the message that it's always the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas is not that great anyway.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/10/2017 09:24

Canvas prints of photographs.

verynaiceham · 01/10/2017 09:24

@ShirleyPhallus I did. The tea came out of my nose too. I also laughed out loud Wink

Mysharonawoana · 01/10/2017 09:25

My neighbour's house is full to the brim with those signs 'live laugh love' and photo frames that are in the shape of the word 'family' or 'love'. I'm sure she thinks our house is a bit cold and heartless. We just have normal shaped frames!

PoppyPopcorn · 01/10/2017 09:25

I hate the cheap sticker "art" which says something tacky and twee about family, or love. Just AWFUL.

Not a fan of crushed velvet either - or indeed anything overtly fashionable which is going to look dated in a few years. It's so wasteful to buy into the new trends and then chuck everything out when those trends move on.

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 01/10/2017 09:25

tippz is there any need?

Mustang27 · 01/10/2017 09:26

I like that dress. No nasty tattoos, velvet furniture or twiggy hearts.

I’d pair that with 200 denier tights dr martens or funky biker boots and a leather jacket. Then I’d probably dribble coffee all over it and ruin the look lol.

Liiinoo · 01/10/2017 09:26

I have (beautiful silver) crushed velvet sofas, a Coldplay quote over my bed, plantation shutters in the front rooms and a log burner. I win the MN annoying decor bingo.

Giggorata · 01/10/2017 09:27

I love velvet, but then I've got an old house and it goes (with all the other old tat). I don't get all that writing and shit.
As for all the grey and eau de nil that is fashionable at the moment - I think it can look very nice (but not in my house) DH got a job lot of grey emulsion and painted the whole of our cottage grey years ago. It was a nice grey, as greys go, but.....no.

ShirleyPhallus · 01/10/2017 09:28

I like the dress very much!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/10/2017 09:28

Ditto to grey. As if we don't have enough grey anyway! You only have to look out of the window on so many days - every shade from pearl grey to slate. Or perhaps Mouse's Breath and Thor's Fury if you were Farrow and Ball.
It will be as dated as avocado bathrooms in the not too distant, but at least paint is cheaper than baths and basins.

verynaiceham · 01/10/2017 09:28

@Liiinoo You have a full house!

I just want to point out again that this thread wasn't intended to come across as nasty. Everyone has their own taste and preferences. I'm just pointing out the current trends aren't for me.

Silverthorn · 01/10/2017 09:28

Mirrored glass furniture. Bleurgh.

LeonardoAcropolis · 01/10/2017 09:28

I like my grey living room, so ner!

What I don't like are those huge wall stickers with a little saying or poem. I also don't like that pvc-composite mock wooden cladding that's appearing on the outside of houses. Each to their own though.
