What the actual fuck?! I have just joined mumsnet and can say I will be leaving it after the negativity I've experienced. I joined expecting women helping women.
Women encouraging other women. Whether that's with their children, their marriage or their careers?! 'Insta mums' are mums who have decided a career in instagramming! And why the fuck not?! Before you ask no I am not an insta mum. Not that I wouldn't want to be - I just can't be bothered to tidy. But they do! They make their homes beautiful and enjoy decorating and showing their efforts off. Other women are inspired and they can bring many other women joy and happiness. Who are you bringing joy and happiness too? Going into the internet and plastering negative energy and bitter comments is not helpful, not nice and not at all fucking productive! You bitch about these women spending their days cleaning and shopping and not 'caring for thier kids' but how are you fucking idiots any better?!? Your too busy slagging off other hard working women to get your kicks. It's sad. Pathetic and downright bullying.
Something's that have been posted have hurt 'insta mums' and have caused upset - what have they actually done to you?? You are no better than the disgusting internet trolls who target celebrities or others who are slightly better looking or better off than yourselves. Get a grip.

Bloody hell I have just looked at that Mummy Tribe thing. WTAF? I had no idea things like than existed. Who is Binky? Why has she set this up after having a baby? Where is the need for it? Who ARE these people?

This is why I am not on Instagram. I just don’t understand Confused

shesakeeper · 15/03/2018 11:15

That @mummytribe thing is everything that's wrong with motherhood on social media. White, middle class, elite nonsense. It costs a thousand pounds just to join the 'tribe'. Fuck that.

VileyRose · 15/03/2018 13:03

^ agree.

sweetmonkeys · 15/03/2018 13:30

That mummytribe thing was utterly shameful. There were a couple of instamums there who I previously had a lot of time for.

magickingdom82 · 15/03/2018 13:40

Lol at the mummy tribe website - hand your newborn baby over to a bunch of strangers so you can exercise and have a massage and "learn about parenting"....why don't they f'in learn by spending time with their baby and learning on the bloody job like the rest of us do. Utterly Ridiculous.

magickingdom82 · 15/03/2018 13:42

I'd love to know what wise advise they impart. But not willing to pay £1000 to find out!

kirinm · 15/03/2018 13:57

I think that mummy tribe has a good idea at the root of it although not sure about what it actually offers - need more than exercise and meditation to inspire me - but the cost of a weekend is nearly 2 months statutory maternity pay. I earn a decent wage but I couldn't afford to do something like that (if I wanted to) during maternity leave.

I'd be surprised if it succeeds with those prices.

magickingdom82 · 15/03/2018 14:04

What the good idea at the root of it exactly?

kirinm · 15/03/2018 14:13

Well, some sort of retreat where you get to relax would be, I'm sure, welcoming to some people but if you're getting classes or whatever it is they're offering, I'd be more interested in things that would assist me in day-to-day life. People go on yoga retreats to learn and have a holiday. I guess this is what the idea is, but it's extortionate, doesn't offer anything that you can't find much more cheaply elsewhere and its target audience is limited to the well off.

It's not my cup of tea but I can see that it would be for others which is why I don't see anything wrong with the idea behind it. The cost and it's lack of inclusivity has a lot wrong with it.

ElspethFlashman · 15/03/2018 14:41

Omg that Mummy Tribe thing. You have to pay for spa treatments! You have to bring along all your babies food - no child meals!

Am genuinely astonished. It must be right up there for pure Insta-knobbery.

Daylight-knobbery, if you will. HAW HAW HAW!

Tinyprancer · 15/03/2018 15:21

My ex colleague is an Instamum. Her posts are incredibly dull, really really inane, yet she gets lots of likes and she’s got loads of followers. Looks closely though and they’re 90% other Instamums in one big old echo chamber.

VileyRose · 15/03/2018 15:30

Yep...as above, usually all from same circles.

Daylight knobbery 🤣🤣🤣

Stickthatinyerpipe · 15/03/2018 15:53

I'm still chuckling at daylight knobbery Grin

The blog is something to read. I just can't get my head round any of it. It's all about becoming a more 'powerful' mum and yet the whole thing seems to be designed around palming off your baby to the nannies (if you even bothered to take it with you) and getting some "me time". I find it utterly bizarre. I guess I don't mix in the kind of circles where this is normal.

magickingdom82 · 15/03/2018 16:02

Clemmie MOD is one of the experts - I presume on how to make £££'s out of your kids.

Stickthatinyerpipe · 15/03/2018 16:07

That's a different Clemmie Grin

Jeanqueen · 15/03/2018 16:21

"That mummytribe thing was utterly shameful. There were a couple of instamums there who I previously had a lot of time for."

I totally agree with you sweetmonkeys. I've unfollowed those particular mums after watching their stories at the retreat. The appearance of Binky (who I’m sure is harmless) proved how out of touch they really are.

It also leads me to question if instamums have additional children to increase their profile/maintain interest? A shocking idea, but could this be a possibility

Iminthecclubnow · 15/03/2018 16:27

Ah yes when I joined Instagram I was most confused by the Clemmies with identical haircuts! It seems the bob with blunt fringe is the must have instamum haircut.

That Mummy tribe thing is just......... 🤣

ElspethFlashman · 15/03/2018 16:32

Clemmie T is all "Fuck Da Haterz" today.

Hi Clemmie. 🖐

Iminthecclubnow · 15/03/2018 16:34

Just looking through Clemmie Telford's insta and a few more from there. None of these women have anything new or interesting to say do they? It's just so..... Dull. And yet they are raking in the endorsements.

Meh, maybe I am just jealous!

shesakeeper · 15/03/2018 16:36

Criticising somebody for perfectly valid reasons is not bullying or hating. Ultimately, she participated in this hideous Mummy Tribe farce and she deserves to be called out for it.

Who advocates a tribe where you have to pay over £1000 just to join? Absolutely fucking ridiculous. These women are living on a different planet to most of us.

Iminthecclubnow · 15/03/2018 16:47

Is it actually a grand to join and the then another however much to go on the retreat thing?!

shesakeeper · 15/03/2018 16:57

No, it's a grand for the retreat. How can you be part of 'the tribe' if you don't go on the retreat?

Mumofkids · 15/03/2018 16:58

It's hideous. And what on earth is Clemmie T's job/role/point, I've followedfor a while and it seems she does something but I've no idea what it is. (Perfectly happy to follow people who are just 'themselves' stay at home mums or working people or anything really, but she keeps featuring other privileged white mums and I'm a bit confused about what her account is for.

Iminthecclubnow · 15/03/2018 17:00

Oh I thought it was like one of those online things where you pay for recipes, yoga videos, tips on being a good mum etc, like a mum version of The Body Coach or something?

Still, a grand for 2 days away?

shesakeeper · 15/03/2018 17:00

She has kids and writes a blog. Like most of them.
