Weird Coincidences.....

I had one yesterday, whilst working into work one of the guys on Reception said to me "I had a dream about you last night, are you going to be moving to Chicago soon?"

Which is pretty random, but not as random as the fact I spent the previous evening in bed reading quite extensively about Meigs Field, which is an airport on lake Michigan, Chicago, in fact, I fell asleep whilst reading the book.

To me that's quite a mental coincidence. Anyone else?

DD1 is very fair and blonde with blue eyes. When pregnant a second time, without knowing the sex, I had a very vivid dream about the baby I was carrying, at about 2 years old. It was a little girl with dark wavy hair, smiling on a bean bag, she was visibly disabled and wore the protective skullcap worn by some children who have fits.
DC2 was indeed a girl with dark wavy hair. Due to negligence, she suffered lack of oxygen at birth resulting in HIE, neonatal fitting and brain damage. She has cerebral palsy and although the fitting stopped after a few weeks and she never needed a protective cap, she looks just like the girl in my dream.
I know it isn't woo, it's just an extraordinary coincidence.

This one is very grim (sorry) and it's not mine but my DH's coincidences. Unfortunately he has had five different friends, two from high school another two from college and one from the company he used to work for, that all developed brain tumours in their twenties! These friends are from different geographical locations and work in different industries (lawyer, doctor, engineers) so there is no commonality.

I don't think I know a single person who has developed a brain tumour in my life and I do wonder sometimes if there is a higher rate of brain tumours occurring in the USA (DH is American) than the UK (I'm British), or else it's just really bad luck for DH's friends :(

I've remembered another one....
My now husband had his wallet stolen from his car. About 6 months later we were in a pub in our local city, a pub we'd never been to before and this bloke came up to my husband and said is your name ...... turns out he'd been waiting by the bus stop outside a camp site he was staying on as he was only visiting the area for a friends party held there at the pub, and he'd found loads of the contents of my husbands wallet stuffed into the hedge, he'd stuck it all into his pocket with the intention of handing it to the police station - because one card had his photo he recognised my husbands face ...amazing!!

When dd1 was 1 I had a miscarriage. My baby had been due on 16th July. I had difficulty conceiving after the mc but two years later I was pregnant. I went to the GP and he worked out my due date...16th July! Dd2 was born on her due date.

When I was 10 my dad died of cancer. He was a bit of a hippy and said that when he died he wanted to be tied naked to a tree and eaten by buzzards. Obviously we didn’t do this!!
Anyway, every time there is a significant event in our lives, like his funeral, our wedding day, DS first day of school etc, there is always a buzzard flying over!

Not mine

My friend lost her mum as a teenager resulted in her dad wanting a new start so her and her siblings moving hundreds of miles away.

They never went home until her cousin was getting married years later. Stood outside church and their mums car drove past (memorable number plate).

NC because this outs me lol

I was due on 7th April, my Dad didn't want me to be an April fool. Just after midnight on the 2nd he told mum "you can have the baby now". Her waters broke shortly after.

DF & DB have had the same dream on the same night before

A few years ago my DF got a quad bike for going to work, he really loved it so for Father's Day I got him one of those photo mugs with it on. Between me ordering it & FD it got stolen so I never gave him the mug. Months later I decided enough time had passed so I decided to give it to him. While I was there, the police rang him to say they had found it. He called me a witch.

This is a bit of a daft one but it made me smile. I have another thread here about my work place, they are trying to get rid of me and I can’t cope with the workload. I handed my notice in on a Friday (as I have another job) and then went on holiday for 2 weeks.

My first day back was last Monday. I was walking to the building feeling apprehensive as it was my first day back and I was wondering if I did the right thing resigning. It was a bright sunny morning and there were planes in the sky.

When I rounded the corner, directly above the building was vapour trails in the shape of a massive X, I took it as a sign that I was meant to leave and my final 2 weeks will be fine.

Havent rtf but will do.
I have two that stand out. My first real bf , and 1st love had the same birthday (different countries and a birth year apart) my exh was same date different month.my DH birthday is the inverse (21st,21st,21st and 12th)
The second is growing up DH and I are from the same area originally but I moved around the world alot (military). His family moved in and around the area -alot (mil likes moving). I've returned three times to live, each time his family moved back into the area and we always lived within a street of each other. But never met. After we got together I noticed a random hat on his wardrobe, laughing I said oohhh I lost one like that on my hen do. He had nicked it off my head and ran off before I could see him. We married 10years to the day after we met, we only realised when our boss sent pics of our old contacts (we met at work) which had the same date.

I call these synchronicetiesGrin

It's like things coincide together when needed.

I don't believe in God or anything like that but I noticed these after my dad passed away a few years ago. I think they've always happened but never noticed.

Everyday my job is to look for these syncronicities and there's at least one one every day. No matter how bad the day is.

I've taught my two to look for them too. No matter how bad things get....little synchroniceties happen

I must sound like a raving loon but trust me. These things happen all the time....I just think, we get caught up in busy lives and forget to look around us.

I love this thread!

The headstone next to my maternal Grandmother's headstone is the same as my father's surname, if you see what I mean?

DS started a new school in Y3 and soon was BF with a particular boy - call him Ben (not his actual name).

Ben's dad asked me about our surname and said he was interested in family history. He told me he'd got people in his tree with my name.

He brought along his handwritten family tree to show me and I instantly recognised it because the names at the top were also my ancestors. We share a set of 7th gt grandparents. Distant cousins but I was still surprised. I'd been brought up somewhere completely different and had quite coincidentally returned to my "ancestral home".

Dd was born in James Cook hospital on James Cook's birthday - which is also my birthday.

I used to run training courses for my staff, and if there were spare places, we used to offer them to staff from other local authorities.

On one occasion, there were 3 people from the London borough where I was born, 50 miles away. In a break, I got chatting to one of them and she turned out to be a neighbour of my aunt, who she knew. As we chatted a bit more, we discovered we were the same age, and had been born on the same night, in the same hospital. Our mothers had almost certainly met some 40+ years earlier, as they kept you in for 7-10 days in those days.

I was on the tube once, sitting opposite a nice young Japanese couple who had an adorable little girl. Later that day I got back on the tube, sat down in a similar seat to earlier, and glanced across to see the exact same family! We have each other a very WTF look!

Also, when I was driving back to my hometown to go on my first date with DP I had a bit of a freak out in the car (we had been friends for a long time, and I think we both knew there would be no going back if we started a relationship). Out loud I asked the universe for a sign that this wasn't a massive mistake. One minute later I was at a roundabout - that had a sign advertising the restaurant we were eating in that night! We're now engaged, one DD and another DC on the way Smile

At the moment in my department of 10 there are 3 of us that all went to a small university at the other end of the country. None of us overlapped at all, we were all there for consecutive years. It's so funny, I have never met anyone in this area that went to my uni!

About 12 years ago. I desperately needed to get in touch with my best friend but for some reason didn't have her number. I thought I remembered it so I dialled the number while praying (not religious, but you know) "please be X, please be X".
Lady answers the phone, voice doesn't sound right, I say " is this X?" She says yes, who is this? She didn't know who I was... Turns out it was a random lady with same name!

About 20 years ago I was in the US with then DH and (quite mean) BIL. We were driving for a few days through Virginia and Tennessee and would stop at really basic motels for the night and all 3 of us shared a room.

One night we stopped, in the dark, at a very old fashioned motel. It was strange and quite creepy. When we we went into the room I joked that it was like Bates Motel from the film Psycho. A few minutes later I put the tv on and the shower scene from Psycho was on the tv......

I didn't have a shower while I was there!

I was meeting my brother in Manchester Piccadilly train station. I hadn't ever been before and was worried about getting out of the station and finding him. There are I think 21 platforms. My train came into the station, I walked up to the train door and it was opened from the outside by my brother!

He was putting his friend on a train while waiting for me. He had no idea it was the train I was on , or that it was the right carriage.

I woke up one morning with REM's Man on the Moon in my head - at a time when it wasn't in the charts or anything so hadn't heard it in a long time. Got into work, put on the radio on and it was the first song they played...
