Weird Coincidences.....

I had one yesterday, whilst working into work one of the guys on Reception said to me "I had a dream about you last night, are you going to be moving to Chicago soon?"

Which is pretty random, but not as random as the fact I spent the previous evening in bed reading quite extensively about Meigs Field, which is an airport on lake Michigan, Chicago, in fact, I fell asleep whilst reading the book.

To me that's quite a mental coincidence. Anyone else?

I don't think there are coincidences, I think it's meant to happen Shock

Years ago when u was I high school I rang picked up the phone to ring my mate to find no dial tone. Pressed the top of the phone (thing before pressing buttons Blush) heard a noise said hello to find my mate who I was just about to ring on the other end!

The most recent was me and my 2 friends were moaning via whatsapp one night that we hadn't managed to see each other for a while but it would be another few weeks before we could meet up. Next morning I bump into my 2 mates and managed a quick chat! We once in a blue moon see each other individually to wave in the morning, and were heading to 3 different schools!

The week before my sister died (completely shocking and unpredictable by anyone, including her) in her early 20s, she had told me randomly what she would like her funeral song to be. I had joked with her about being overly morbid.

We found after her death that, inexplicably, she had folded up all of her clothing in neat piles in the bottom of her wardrobe, and had ordered several storage boxes to be delivered to the house (arrived a couple days after her death). She had also left one outfit laid out as if in display (which we used as her final dress, it seemed appropriate).

Last year whilst on holiday, I heard that another sink hole had appeared in a city in England (one had already appeared a few weeks before). I got chatting to a couple on the plane on the way home from that city and they didn't know about this second sink hole that had appeared.

Anyway, turns out the reason why they hadn't heard about it was because it hadn't happened....but a few days after I had that conversation with them, a second sink hole did appear.

Still can't explain where I found out about a second hole (maybe a very vivid dream??) But I often wonder if they were a little spooked out by me Grin I spooked myself out!!

Very recent one, and one for us Scottish mumsnetters

Was talking on fb to a work colleague about reading The Broons growing up, at the same time on The People's History programme they started a feature about Dudley Watkins, the illustrator of the early Broons and Oor Wullie books

The other day I had 3 missed calls from an unknown number, as I get loads of son calls I was going to google it but wasn't concentrating and copied it into my Facebook search instead.
The first post to pop up was someone messaging a swim school to say their son couldn't attend his lessons that day-he had the exact same first and last name as my son (not hugely common).
Nowhere near where we live and absolutely nothing to do with us!

My ds was complaining that there were no famous people with the same first name as him. I said he was wrong and there were lots of famous people with his name. While I was trying to come up with a few examples the answer to the quiz show we were watching was a person with ds's first name.

Left my work in West London for the evening, said bye to woman I sat opposite from, headed to East London to meet some friends. Stopped off to buy something so was a bit late. Got to pub in East London, found friends sitting at a table by the window. Sitting other side of the table was woman I sit opposite at work. I hadn't discussed the pub with her at all. She didn't know my friends. She didn't live in East London. Both sides of the table were highly confused when I greeted both of them.

Last week at work we had a whole company raffle. I told my colleagues I was going to win it. I told the lady organising it I was going to win it. I was very annoying.
I just knew I was going to win it. I won it. Grin

The best one was the time my parents and our next door neighbours both relocated to the same area of the country (300 miles away) and totally unknowingly then tried to buy the same house on the same day. They ended up being our neighbours again for years after!

Happens a lot but dont see it as coincidence. Have you ever read The Secret?

Well fuck. I'm on holiday and have run out of books to read (I brought loads with me). Raided the pile in the downstairs lobby this morning and grabbed the only English language book I could find. It was The Secret.

Weird coincidence!!

Many years ago I was on holiday with my DD and my DM. Our flight home was delayed and we got talking to another family. Me and the DH of the family both into punk and I told him my DB was in a band with a former member of a well known (in niche punk circles!) band.

6 months later DB is arranging playing a gig in a town about 50 miles away from his home city. Mentions the band-mate and the club promoter says "that's funny, I got talking to a woman whose brother is in a band with him..."

LilQueenie I had finished it by this evening - loved it. But see what you mean about coincidences not being coincidences, thus my belief that you must have engineered the entire scenario Grin

Several years ago I dropped my keys as I got out of my car. I was parked over a drain so then went straight to the bottom. Couldn't believe how unlucky I was. As I walked along the road heading for home to phone for help I spotted the drain cleaning truck coming towards me. We live on a small village and these trucks come along probably once a year at the most. Very much right time right place.

Mines not a particularly interesting coincidence but last Sunday I was clearing out my CDs and stopped and played an old Janis Joplin one, me and Bobby McGee. I thought that it had been a couple of. Years since I heard that song. An hour later I went to th co op and it came on their in store radio. Later that night it was on the radio.

Not heard it for ages and then 3 times in one night!!

Years ago I was out in a club and a guy gave me his number then phoned me on the spot. It came up as a name already in my phone book, someone I had been in contact with recently by text. Still can't work it out as he claimed to have had the phone and number for a while. I then received a text from my original contact a week or so later as normal Confused. Don't think I'm explaining it very well but it was odd at the time! My DH thinks he must've stolen the phone but my original friends phone hadn't gone missing.

Son, from UK, goes to Bondi Beach with friend - lays towel on beach and looks up to see a former classmate from the UK right next to him. He hadn't seen her since leaving school - and there he was lying next to her on the same patch of sand on the beach in OZ.

Went to the zoo a few weeks back which is about a 40 min drive from us, me and my dp was talking about the elephants when this other couple next to us started talking to us about them , anyway we went home later on and decided to go for a meal - the place we normally go they was an hours wait so we decided to go somewhere else (we're we never go) parked the car up in a MULTI STOREY car park, and guess who's sat in there car opposite us? The zoo couple! Hehe what's the chances of that!

Love this.

Many many years ago, my first boyfriend, a great love of mine, moved abroad and within a couple of months he broke up with me. It was the end of my world. He copped off with this rather glamorous slightly older woman (when I say older I mean she was 24 to our 20) who I actually met when I visited before he broke up with me. I remember feeling doubly heart broken as she seemed so much more sophisticated than I was. She was at once an enemy and someone I aspired to be.

BF and I ended up getting back together and being together for another several years until I left him as I simply wanted different things so it was an amicable split. Our mothers befriended each other and stayed firm friends to this day.

This year I gave birth to my first child. My EXBF's mother met DD of course and gave her a little bath toy, a luxury hotel souvenir in fact - it's a rubber version of mascot of a well known historic town in my country. It so happens that DD LOVES this toy and it's her absolute favourite in the bath.

When I asked EXBF's Mum how she came by it, she said that it came from EXBF's friend who manages this luxury hotel in that town as my EXBF met her this summer. I then realised that the friend in question is my old time adversary.

It just struck me how life works out in the most mysterious way. And as DD played in the bath with it today, it struck me how my drama of jealousy and betrayal and heartbreak played out so intensely many many years ago ended with a little bath toy in my DD's hands. Smile
