She booked a taxi to my address ...cheeky?

So this morning I'm sat having a cuppa when a uber taxi pulls up at my door.
He starts beeping his horn,I ignore it and 2 minutes later I go out and a woman walks around the corner.
I ask her was this taxi for her..she said yes sorry uber app couldn't find my address so I used your house number.
I was taken aback and told her that she shouldn't of done that and not to do it again...
Was she cheeky?

Order some live fishing bait to her address Grin

Seriously though, total non-issue - uber always stop outside random numbers on my street based on my GPS location and she wouldn't have expected the driver to have any interaction with you.

MsPassepartout · 18/09/2017 14:23

I'd have been annoyed at a taxi sat on my drive honking it's horn.

I'd have probably gone out to see what was going on and been telling the driver to go away as there must have been some mistake as we hadn't ordered a taxi, once the honking started.

It'd be different if she'd been waiting to flag it down and jump straight in once it arrived.

BoomBoomBoomBoooom · 18/09/2017 14:30

It's an Uber they won't knock on your door and you won't be blacklisted!

If she's your neighbour then them beeping their horn on her address is the exact same.

Anyone bothered by this is an actual loon. GET A LIFE!

AcrossthePond55 · 18/09/2017 14:32

Was it an Uber or a taxi? Never known an Uber to 'honk'. It's all done by text message. Come to think of it, I've never given an Uber my address as they usually use GPS location on their phones to find me. Is it done differently in the UK?

unfortunateevents · 18/09/2017 14:32

And you are so bothered by this you felt it necessary to name change to post on Mumsnet?!

BellyDancer124 · 18/09/2017 14:38

Hahahaha madonna Grin brilliant

GemmaCollinsBabes · 18/09/2017 14:42

Once someone looked at the number on my door to work out if they were on the correct side of the road for the house they wanted to visit. I can tell you now I phoned 101 almost immediately. Brazen.

crazycatlady5 · 18/09/2017 14:44

Whatever I try, uber does not pick up my address. It picks up the house opposite.

I still use uber all the time.

No idea what the problem is.

rightsaidfrederickII · 18/09/2017 14:54

Blimey, if this is a concern that warrants posting on MN, you must live a very comfortable life

WomblingThree · 18/09/2017 14:58

WTAF??

Hoping for a ten page thread with clever acronyms OP?

TheFirstMrsDV · 18/09/2017 15:03

I don't use Ubers.
Are you only supposed to order them from your house?
What happens if you are out and you want to go home?
That system doesn't sound very convenient.
Do you have to get the bus back?

Justdontknow4321 · 18/09/2017 15:03

Not cheeky.

Redglitter · 18/09/2017 15:03

Yes i think it's cheeky and and that she should have called into you first and asked if it were ok

Oh for heaven sake. The woman ordered a blooming taxi and used the OPs address as nearest hers. She didn't know the driver would park in the drive.

Ask permission - seriously? Don't be ridiculous

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 18/09/2017 15:04

TheFirstMrsDV I've never used an Uber in my life but they would be pretty shit if you could only order them from your house Grin

ButchyRestingFace · 18/09/2017 15:04

If the car was sitting on your actual driveway, I can see why you'd be annoyed.

But the woman couldn't have predicted the driver would do that.

If I order an uber to pick me up outside someone else's house - which I do do - I expect them to wait for me on the street.

Not drive up a driveway. The issue is with the driver.

You don't own the pavement outside your house, nor the road.

DanHumphreyIsA · 18/09/2017 15:05

😂

Talkietalk · 18/09/2017 15:07

was he beeping for the whole two minutes? If so I would go out as well to tell him to shut up, otherwise if he just beeped once, I would ignore it

se22mother · 18/09/2017 15:08

Not cheeky. Yabu.

Sweetpea55 · 18/09/2017 15:16

If it happens again you could always nip out smartish and say you haven't ordered a taxi and send him on his way,

JeReviens · 18/09/2017 15:19

Ring 101 and log it with the Police.

Grin
Theresnonamesleft · 18/09/2017 15:21

I get Ubers from anywhere and everywhere. It will start to rain as I am walking somewhere, so I find shelter and book an Uber. When in random locations, they give suggestions of where to pick up.

But anyway Uber cannot find my place. Nor can a lot of companies unless the driver has been here before. I often get calls from delivery people asking where I am. If there's space on the any other info, I always give detailed directions, but companies don't always pass this over.

WomblingThree · 18/09/2017 15:22

Why the fuck would anyone have the mental energy to get annoyed because a car sat on their drive for TWO MINUTES?

Some people's lives must be lovely if that's seriously all they have to worry about.

Theresnonamesleft · 18/09/2017 15:22

That's really mean to send the driver away. The customer will still be charged.

Coffeetasteslikeshit · 18/09/2017 15:24

Sorry OP, but you sound well petty.

ShowMePotatoSalad · 18/09/2017 15:25

She didn't climb into bed with you, she just ordered a taxi to pull up outside your house!
