She booked a taxi to my address ...cheeky?

So this morning I'm sat having a cuppa when a uber taxi pulls up at my door.
He starts beeping his horn,I ignore it and 2 minutes later I go out and a woman walks around the corner.
I ask her was this taxi for her..she said yes sorry uber app couldn't find my address so I used your house number.
I was taken aback and told her that she shouldn't of done that and not to do it again...
Was she cheeky?

Why didn't she just type in her house number, like I just did? Confused But YA still BU.

Fruitcocktail6 · 18/09/2017 12:57

It would be an issue if she done a runner, soiled in the taxi or otherwise messed about

No it wouldn't. Do you know what Uber is?

Cheekofit · 18/09/2017 12:57

I don't like her no.
Maybe that's why it wound me up.
She's a gobshit, always drunk making her mouth go.
I was up most of the night last night maybe I'm just being ratty

I was the same as anyone else until I read it pulled on your drive, so I have changed my mind.

Would everyone else still be OK with a taxi for someone else pulling onto their drive and tooting their horn? What if she books one every morning for her lift to work?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 18/09/2017 12:58

If uber wasn't picking her address up I don't know what stopped her calling a normal taxi

Uber was cheaper? It would be ther faster? It was more convenient?
She probably should have been waiting for the uber so he didn't end up pulling into your drive but all in all, not worth getting annoyed about IMO.

19lottie82 · 18/09/2017 12:58

Ha ha! What?
Why do you even care? Wow.

If I was her I would have laughed at you.

Serious question tho.....why were you remotely bothered?

TheDodgyEnd · 18/09/2017 12:58

Ah ok well that does explain it. You're tired and don't like her. It's not the uber that's wound you up, it's her. Would you have been annoyed if it was the lovely little old lady 10 doors down?

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 18/09/2017 12:59

Yeah hotel

I don't understand why under those circumstances its still no problem for people

Get a life OP.

treaclesoda · 18/09/2017 13:00

The person who booked the taxi wasn't to know that the driver would pull into the drive. I've had many a taxi over the years and none of them have every pulled into the drive.

StickThatInYourPipe · 18/09/2017 13:01

I think it's cheaper to get an Uber

guilty100 · 18/09/2017 13:01

So the car was pulled up outside your house? I stop in a taxi outside my neighbour's house all the time, because there's an open space there (due to a tree that drops crap all over the place). Roads are public spaces that belong to all of us - the woman was telling the driver her rough location. It's often very much quicker to get an Uber than a regular cab, which is probably why she didn't do the latter.

hula008 · 18/09/2017 13:02

Did the taxi actually pull on to your drive or was just blocking it? I've never seen a taxi pull on a drive before...

AnnieAnoniMouse · 18/09/2017 13:04

Random stranger - no problem.

Twattish bint you don't like - yes, she's a cheeky fucker.

You need coffee or a nap!

KingLooieCatz · 18/09/2017 13:04

I did this when I took a folding bike for a test ride and got a flat tyre. I had to get it back before the shop shut and couldn't walk there in time, so called a cab. They wouldn't take a booking if I just said where I was, so I had to just look for the nearest address. Obvs just waited in the rain for the taxi to arrive.

She should have been waiting for it though, the parking on your drive is a bit off though. When I'm rich and famous I'll have a drive and be in a position to be offended.

StickThatInYourPipe · 18/09/2017 13:04

I haven't either tbh!

BenLui · 18/09/2017 13:05

Erm, the car pulled onto the OP's driveway and honked its horn.

That would have annoyed me too.

newmum129 · 18/09/2017 13:06

It was on a road but pulled in to my drive way if that makes sense.

So it wasn't actually on your drive? That doesn't make sense it was either on your drive or on the road?

YABU unless it was actually on your drive-you don't own the road.

onalongsabbatical · 18/09/2017 13:07

Ok, so - taxi, please pick me up outside Tescos.
Taxi, please pick me up on the corner of the High St.
Taxi, please pick me up outside number 5 Blogg Street.
It's a place, a landmark. You may own the house but you don't own the use of the location as a reference point.
Bonkers.

DiegoMadonna · 18/09/2017 13:09

I know mumsnetters get very easily het up about meaningless things, but this really takes the Biscuit

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 18/09/2017 13:10

YABU. Biggest non issue ever.

treaclesoda · 18/09/2017 13:11

That's a fair point, but should the annoyance not be directed towards the person doing the driving and the honking, not the person who ordered the taxi?

PlasticPatty · 18/09/2017 13:11

I do it most days. My house can't be reached by car so I say 'opposite [the nearest address]' and wait outside for the taxi.

MoiraRosesMeltdown · 18/09/2017 13:15

Sat Navs direct people to my back door down a dark lane, so I always order taxis to the address opposite. They wait in the street. I run out. I'd think my neighbours were very strange if they objected.
