Do your family, friends, work colleagues, anyone ever discuss Brexit anymore?

StevieNicksMirage · 16/09/2017 17:11

My family don't. None of my friends are interested. Nor are my work colleagues.

Was wondering if it ever comes up in anyone else's conversations.

My last post was in response to TheElementsSong

TheElementsSong · 18/09/2017 14:51

Appealing to a lack of emotional response as some form of victory or indication of truthiness in one's views? Confused How does that work?

TheElementsSong · 18/09/2017 14:52

Also: can somebody quote the OUTRAGE part, because that is also Confused me.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 18/09/2017 14:54

I have no idea what your last 2 posts mean.
No need to explain further though as I am not really bothered in all honesty.

TheElementsSong · 18/09/2017 14:55

I'm sure you can at least help identify my OUTRAGE for me. G'wan g'wan g'wan.

Elendon · 18/09/2017 14:56

I don't have the level of devotion required

Which is

A. Why next of kin is a crock of shit - may as well have euthanasia.

B. Some people don't care a shit about the consequences.

WyclefJohn · 18/09/2017 15:00

Faith, admittedly, we don't know for sure how things will turn out with Brexit, although the signs aren't yet positive.

May I ask you a question? Do you feel any responsibility for having contributing towards an action that has serious consequences that may well be negative?

Elendon · 18/09/2017 15:00

itsascandal23 has absolutely nailed it.

Great post!

Biber · 18/09/2017 15:02

I'm very active in the Remain movement and of course we talk about it all the time. When doing street stalls, or out with the No10 Vigil for example, we meet people who haven't a clue of the implications and are not taking notice.

Can I share a petition that may well appeal to many? Both Remainers and Leavers who were promised the earth, unicorns, more money for the NHS and staying in the Single Market? It asks for a vote on the final deal. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/200004

I believe that leaving the EU will be positive for UK.

So, to answer your question:
No, I don't feel any responsibility for having contributed towards an action that has serious consequences that may well be negative, because nobody knows yet whether the consequences will be negative or positive.

WyclefJohn · 18/09/2017 15:10

But do you feel any responsibility for your decision? Whether Brexit is a success or a failure?

Elendon · 18/09/2017 15:13

Why are you so trusting Faith when you have no idea of the consequences?

Are you like this with your life?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 18/09/2017 15:20

But do you feel any responsibility for your decision? Whether Brexit is a success or a failure?

Why does it matter so much to you whether a random anonymous poster on the internet feels responsibility or not?

*Why are you so trusting Faith when you have no idea of the consequences?

Are you like this with your life?*

Why are/were you so trusting in the EU Elendon?
Are you like this with your life?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 18/09/2017 15:22

This is why people don't engage btw.
The utterly ridiculous circular arguments.

existentialmoment · 18/09/2017 15:29

because nobody^ knows yet whether the consequences will be negative or positive

But we do know that they will be negative. They already are!

Elendon · 18/09/2017 15:30

But it isn't circular.

I wouldn't trust the leave because I didn't think they would engage with the consequences properly.

Sadly, I've been proven right.

I actually think that you Faith have the same outlook as those who are going to Brussels to negotiate a deal. So think of yourself up there at the negotiation table, not just some random on the internet.

WyclefJohn · 18/09/2017 15:48

Why does it matter so much to you whether a random anonymous poster on the internet feels responsibility or not?

Because it seems to me, as the main proponent of leave on this thread, you seem to be shrugging your shoulders at the most momentous decision taken in the UK in the past 60 years. You put yourself forward in this thread as the spokesperson for leave, and you are abdicating your democratic duties. You merely hope that Brexit will be a success.

WyclefJohn · 18/09/2017 15:53

The conservsation seems circular Faith, as you're not really engaging.

On one side, there is a group of people who voted remain, who thought that Brexit would have negative real world consequences, and are at least engaged in what happens next.

You seem to say "who cares, nothing to do with me, I'm just a little anonymous person on the internet".

TheElementsSong · 18/09/2017 16:06

Will somebody please tell me where my OUTRAGE was? 😩

Or can I conclude that the claim of OUTRAGE was another example of (certain) Leaver rhetoric?

"Brexit is going to be Great for lots of Reasons / There are lots of Horrible Oppressive EU laws we'll be Free of ... But I'm not going to tell you because you're big Meanies! ^^ "

Grin
FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 18/09/2017 16:18

Because it seems to me, as the main proponent of leave on this thread

I'm not.
There's plenty more on this thread.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 18/09/2017 16:20

You put yourself forward in this thread as the spokesperson for leave

😂
Did I bollocks 'put myself forward as the spokesperson for Leave'

Nutter.

makeourfuture · 18/09/2017 16:22

There should be some sort of plan. It's just bumbling.

And such a lack of transparency.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 18/09/2017 16:22

You put yourself forward in this thread as the spokesperson for leave

I dont think thats fair

You cant complain when people who voted leave dont engage and then tell one person that does engage that they have' put themself forward...as spokesperson'

TheElementsSong · 18/09/2017 16:32

I concur that Faith has not generally put her/himself forward as a spokesperson amongst Leave voters.

My interest such as it is, in her/his answers (or lack thereof) are with respect to their personal views only.
