What are your two favourite French songs? (Shamelessly posting for traffic!)

Hi everyone.

Sorry this is so boring but just posting for traffic if that's okay!

I had a thread on here a few weeks ago about a weekly hospital radio show I was doing, where I'd planned to do a feature on it about French music each week.

I've been asked to start off this week by bringing in a couple of songs from two different French musicians or groups. Only thing is i don't want to start off with my absolute favourites and am not really sure how to start it all off.

This is where you lovely lot all come in :)

Would you mind letting me know your two favourite French-language groups or musicians please? Or your two favourite French songs?

allfurcoat I was going to suggest that one as well (les amants d'un jour). It's z very bleak song indeed.

Another brilliant Françoise Hardy song (the original was in Italian, by Adriano Celentano, but the French version has completely different words):

Anything by Georges Brassens, Jacques Brel or Boris Vian.

Possibly not all suitable for your intended audience, though

Boris Vian's , dating back to 1954, is a fantastic anti-war song.

It's great in the original Italian, too (Il ragazzo della Via Gluck).

icecream I didn't know Mistral Gagnant but I've just listened to it and then this very interesting podcast m.youtube.com/watch?v=IwzMvRI5YX4 explaining in French the language a bit more - really useful as I didn't know some of these phrases. Loved it.
