To think this was the most pathetically stupid thing ever

Went to a supermarket cafe with 2yo DC, both our meals came after a silly long wait and mine was grim and stone cold so I asked for a refund (they offered me a choice of replacement or refund but it had taken so long to begin with and DC was tucking into hers at that point so refund was easier)
She has finished and was eating her fruit bag so I picked at a couple of chips that she hadn't eaten...she hadn't eaten a huge amount anyway! When the manager came barrelling over and whisked the plate from me to infront of her and told me "that meal is for age 10 and under not for adults" I said "she's finished her meal and mine was inedible" so he then said he would have to ask me to leave if I was going to eat another chip and did I want to be embarrassed infront of everyone...so we left anyway

So now a half plate of food has been wasted over 3 fucking chips

Fucking insania

I would have pushed him and found out how he would have embarrassed you!

I think you are right not naming and shaming on social media, he could have been having a rotten day. Interested in what head office come back with

guiltybystander · 15/09/2017 23:04

I would have slapped the manager on the face.

StickThatInYourPipe · 15/09/2017 23:10

Oh I hate this kind of shite!

I wanted a kids meal from a fish and chip shop the other day. I wasn't sitting in, just wanted a few chips and a small fish (they didn't do small otherwise btw just regular and large)

They said I couldn't buy it as I wasn't purchasing it for a child. I said I understand that but I don't want to waste loads of food by binning it and I would happily pay a little more and have a 'small' but it wasn't on offer. They remained adamant I couldn't do either.

I left without spending anything the dicks, they do t deserve my money.

Op the bloke is if cunt and I'm glad you are finding it amusing. The only way to look at it tbh YANBU!!!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 15/09/2017 23:12

I would have slapped the manager on the face

Why on earth would violence be the answer... Jesus 🙄Hmm

Complain publicly and shame them in to responding

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 15/09/2017 23:17

I spoke to a customer service agent, they were very nice and I'm totally fine with the response so I won't be naming and shaming on social media

I do genuinely think that there shouldn't be children's meals on menus, just smaller portions available to all...I actually had a problem a few weeks ago in Brighton when I ordered fish and chips from a place that does free kids meals for under 12...I asked for one adult and one kids (for a friend who can't eat large portions) but asked to pay for the kids portion...computer said no and it caused nearly 10 minutes of problems because the computer wouldn't let me pay but the manager said I couldn't have it for free...it would've been easier to just take it for free originally!!

They don't need to be shamed into replying over it...the manager was an idiot but maybe he was just having a really shit day

welshbutenglish · 15/09/2017 23:55

But haven't you kind of shamed them already OP? You've just told mumsnet all about it. At least taking your complaint to them via trustpilot or social media is doing something constructive Hmm

applesareredandgreen · 16/09/2017 00:11

That's got to be one of the worst cases of poor customer service I've ever heard. Complain big time. To his manager, to head office, on trip adviser, twitter, anywhere you can get a voice. I'm furious on your behalf.

Shadow666 · 16/09/2017 03:02

I always buy myself a Happy Meal when we go to McDonalds. They don't care if it's an adult eating it. I think a lot of places do kids meal extra cheap though. I noticed a sign in IKEA saying the kids meals were for 12 and under only.

Like most people I knew this was Morrisons from the first post. Always very, very slow service even when empty. Often half hour wait, sometimes more for very basic food that must be mostly pre-prepared anyway. Have to ask if food is on the way, or rush it when finally arrives as now making us late. Sometimes they offer free pudding as it has taken so long but I would rather just have the food arrive on time. Sainsburys get similar dishes to the table in 10 -15 mins or less.

All the Morrisons cafes have just been done up and in our local one the kitchen is open. You can see one stressed looking woman in charge trying to do everything and lots of agitated discussion over orders. Lots of other counter staff anxiously looking on, maybe one kitchen assistant trying to help with what they can but looks like they don't have the authority. If they have petty rules from head office and don't feel empowered to work efficiently, no wonder they flip out like this chap did. Please sort this out Morrisons, your cafes look cheerful, your offers are great. But I walk past every time now..... I cannot afford the delay and irritation to my day.

WellThisIsShit · 16/09/2017 10:07

Utter fool. Bad tempered meanness is so irritating when you meet it unexpectedly.

I do think that these kind of people have their own worst consequence kind of baked in, as they have to live in that petty fogging nasty deliberately needling little brain. Ugh, rather them than me I say :)

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 17/09/2017 11:01

I'd complain to Morrisons! It's outrageous! You paid for the whole plate of food....not just what your child chose to eat

houghtonk76 · 25/09/2017 08:22

Complain to HO!!! Stat. What a d**khead!!!!

Cracking post by whoever said - clearly this wasn't Waitrose 😂😂😂

houghtonk76 · 25/09/2017 08:29

Seriously, places have rules about the age you can be to eat a kids meal???? Surely legally once you've paid for it, you can do what you choose with it?? (that is: eat it yourself if you have small stomach / appetite, eat some of your leftover DCs food or smear it into the face of said d**khead manager!!!! - that last one is just for humour value, obviously you can't legally go round assaulting people, but you get the point)
