To think this was the most pathetically stupid thing ever

Went to a supermarket cafe with 2yo DC, both our meals came after a silly long wait and mine was grim and stone cold so I asked for a refund (they offered me a choice of replacement or refund but it had taken so long to begin with and DC was tucking into hers at that point so refund was easier)
She has finished and was eating her fruit bag so I picked at a couple of chips that she hadn't eaten...she hadn't eaten a huge amount anyway! When the manager came barrelling over and whisked the plate from me to infront of her and told me "that meal is for age 10 and under not for adults" I said "she's finished her meal and mine was inedible" so he then said he would have to ask me to leave if I was going to eat another chip and did I want to be embarrassed infront of everyone...so we left anyway

So now a half plate of food has been wasted over 3 fucking chips

Fucking insania

Ah X-post. Madness, in that case. Please complain.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 14/09/2017 12:24

No, chips were shit!

Wtf! I always eat the kid's leftovers at Morrisons. (I've even got an extra kids meal free in the past when DP and I were both paying for adult meals and only had one DC with us!) Defintely complain, you've paid for it, it's yours.

DamnSummerCold · 14/09/2017 12:30

Isn't that theft?

After all you had paid for it.

BoffinMum · 14/09/2017 12:30

Woah! Bang out of order!!
It is practically the law to nick chips off kids' plates. 'Quality control' n that.

SparklyLeprechaun · 14/09/2017 12:32

They've probably got a list of complaints a foot long against that manager. Write to the head office, that guy shouldn't be allowed in customer services.

Jackiebrambles · 14/09/2017 12:34

OMG what?! That is madness! Definitely complain.

And I'm LOVING the 'insania' comment. Good old Pete Andre.

coddiwomple · 14/09/2017 12:36

so the manager took away the chips that you paid for? Yes, that's theft. Grin

Completely bonkers. Do complain on social media please, it is quite funny!

I always eat something from my little ones plate, before they start, to check the temperature and that's it's edible. There was a story about a kid drinking alcohol given to her by mistake, and I always thought it was worth checking.

Gottagetmoving · 14/09/2017 12:37

Sounds like he was offended that you complained about your meal and got a refund. He was being shitty because you ate some of a child's meal so used that as an excuse.
He had no right to take away food you had paid for.

YouOKHun · 14/09/2017 12:45

I'd tweet Morrisons.

clumsyduck · 14/09/2017 12:47

Pathetic ! sounds like they were just annoyed that you complained and been twats

No doubt you were hungry given that you ended up with no meal I'd have gone for the leftovers too!! And it's there fault you had no meal , fair enough they offered a replacement but how long would that have taken ?!

What a knobhead

KurriKurri · 14/09/2017 12:53

I jsut don;t get this weird type of 'customer service' it's such a shoot yourself in the foot, short sighted approach. Surely if he'd just refunded your meal and apologised, then left you alone you;d hve thought customer servce was fine and would return. Now you'll probably never go back and will tell all your friends (and mumsnet) that this place is terrible. It's madness.

The attitude in the States is so different - they go out of their way to be helpful. I always used to ask for kids meal for myself (adult meals being enormous !) and there was never any problem. Plus they box up any left overs for you to take home.

Manager sounds like a petty pathetic little shit.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 14/09/2017 12:53

Can't beat a Peter Andre reference! The man's a twunt but he had a good cheesy career!!

I've sent an email to them as I had another problem aswell but I won't do it on social media...I'm more amused by it then outraged! Plus he probably did me a favour...I'm supposed to me healthy eating so picking at shit chips wasn't the best idea!!

SusanTheGentle · 14/09/2017 12:56

This kind of bollocks is exactly why I never shop in bloody Morrisons. The customer service training must be fricking diabolical. Or they're employing people that would be better placed in back of house roles. Either way, Aldi in future.

sleepykidsplease · 14/09/2017 12:57

You purchased the meal, it's up to you what you do with it (within reason!!!). I would complain to the store manger, if they are not forthcoming I would let them know that you are going to escalate the issue to HO. Let them try to rectify it first. As you have already tried this, I would go on social media, advertise the issue and that no manager was forthcoming when repeatedly requested. HO should be pretty quick to respond to that!

Dontletthebastardsgrindyoudown · 14/09/2017 13:01

Wtf???

So you paid for kids meal and then you weren't allowed to eat any of it?

I'll be honest, I've always thought Morrisons was a bit bonkers Hmm

yodelehoho · 14/09/2017 13:04

Absolutely incredible. You need to take this further.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 14/09/2017 13:05

That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in at least the last 6 months

MollyHuaCha · 14/09/2017 13:09

What's the law on people over10 being allowed to eat a meal aimed at those under 10? What about adults with small appetites?

misshannah · 14/09/2017 13:10

I eat kids meals all the time. He was well out of order!

Mittens1969 · 14/09/2017 13:11

Unbelievable! I would definitely name and shame Morrisons on social media. I've never heard of anything like this before; I often finish my DDs' meals when I'm out for a meal. I've been known to deliberately only order myself a soup knowing that I'll be finishing their meals.

I do agree it's a pity you didn't make more of a fuss at the time, and then he would have been the one embarrassed not you. Although I probably wouldn't have done that myself, it's easy to say as a keyboard warrior!

soupforbrains · 14/09/2017 13:13

Sod the email, you need to social media the crap out of this. private communications (i.e. email or letters) do them no more harm than your offense, which has already been caused. Whereas if you complain publicly on social media the coverage can be huge and they can't risk that level of bad publicity.

Are you on Twitter? personally I find that's the best place for this sort of complaint. I would tweet them publicly about it and if they are slow in responding let them know you've also posted on here.

TitaniasCloset · 14/09/2017 13:14

Let us know what they say in response to your email. That is appalling customer service. What an arse. Well done for staying calm.

TitaniasCloset · 14/09/2017 13:15

Yes, twitter is really good for complaints like this.

QuimReaper · 14/09/2017 13:17

Name and shame the branch, OP!

Utterly ridiculous. I sort of get the thing restaurants do where they won't allow adults to order children's meals to eat themselves, but even that leaves me a bit Hmm This is just insanity.
