To think this was the most pathetically stupid thing ever

Went to a supermarket cafe with 2yo DC, both our meals came after a silly long wait and mine was grim and stone cold so I asked for a refund (they offered me a choice of replacement or refund but it had taken so long to begin with and DC was tucking into hers at that point so refund was easier)
She has finished and was eating her fruit bag so I picked at a couple of chips that she hadn't eaten...she hadn't eaten a huge amount anyway! When the manager came barrelling over and whisked the plate from me to infront of her and told me "that meal is for age 10 and under not for adults" I said "she's finished her meal and mine was inedible" so he then said he would have to ask me to leave if I was going to eat another chip and did I want to be embarrassed infront of everyone...so we left anyway

So now a half plate of food has been wasted over 3 fucking chips

Fucking insania

I'd have picked up another chip, sucked on it slowly and seductively and said "whatchu gonna do about it?"

He didn't have a leg to stand on. Sometimes it's worth making a scene.

Why do people always have to insist on naming & shaming & rushing to Twitter or Facebook without complaining initially to Head Office and giving them the opportunity to deal with it properly themselves?!Angry They have disciplinary procedures for this sort of thing where needed but they can't use them properly if you've dragged social media and the Daily Mail into it. It's all about attention-seeking. If you really cared about sorting the complaint you'd do it properly.

x2boys · 14/09/2017 15:49

She didn't eat for free Fudge she has said several times she paid for both meal and was only refunded the adult one Hmm we dont even get waitroses never mind Waitroses with wine barsEnvy

alltouchedout · 14/09/2017 15:51

I'd have made a scene.
What a tit.

TheFirstMrsDV · 14/09/2017 16:02

I knew it was morrisons from your very first post.
I like their food and their cafes are reasonably priced but when something goes wrong it goes VERY wrong indeed.

Anyone can buy and eat a children's meal. Its only called a children's meal because its smaller. There is no special discount or tax relief.

I know some shops will only sell them to under 10s or 12s but its not a law fgs.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 14/09/2017 16:03

I've emailed head office and that's as far as I'll take it. I see absolutely no point in going on social media about it or naming and shaming the branch.

The man was a tit but I'm more amused then annoyed!

Please go over his head.

And you showed more restraint then me. He would have been the one embarrassed as I made it clear the reason I was starving and picking at my child's leftovers was because they had failed to provide me with an edible meal!

JonSnowsbuttocks · 14/09/2017 16:25

That is mental

Keletubbie · 14/09/2017 16:58

The CS team at HQ are really good.

An awful woman working there told off my daughter - who was incidentally right - and they sent her £20, plus £10 to me for facilitating the complaint 😂😂😂

soupforbrains · 14/09/2017 19:11

I don't know where Sparkling lives but either we have the same Waitrose or there are several which have 2 cafes, a wine bar and a sushi bar! It is really cool and also lethal for my wallet and waist especially as my office is directly next door.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2017 20:34

Worcestershire soup?

soupforbrains · 14/09/2017 20:45

Ah no, I'm Hampshire.

Ours has a little coffee shop and pastries sort of cafe downstairs and a biiiig full on cafe upstairs. A wine and tapas bar and the sushi bar which is nom. The wine bar is excellent for people watching!

Sayyouwill · 14/09/2017 20:52

Joooobswoooorth.

Don't worry. He obviously only has a slither of power at work and uses it to its full force. Get that reported, go in with DD, and eat some more chips in his face while dancing around

Francesca14 · 14/09/2017 21:05

Complain, you DID order the meal for an under 10. They cant reuse the food so they took it away to throw it, that really is awful.

Sparklingbrook · 14/09/2017 21:53

You have a two level Waitrose soup? Now that is posh. Grin

Ours is all on one floor. The Wine Bar is genius.

libbyb · 15/09/2017 17:43

I'm glad we don't live where your Morrisons is!! I take the kids to ours quite a lot and in the school holidays the kids just ate free - if there was an adult meal paid for. My DS had a normal Jacket Potato meal and DD had a child's meal. I went for the all day breakfast (soo good :-) ) The Cafe Assistant asked did I want to choose another child's meal as 2 adult meals had been purchased - I said there was no-one to eat it! She said that some kids have a larger appetite and that I could just double up the child's meal if they had a larger appetite. So no discrimination about who ate what at all. I would complain above the Cafe Manager's level to the Store Manager. You were penalised just because you couldn't eat your inedible meal and sent it back. Ridiculous.

balsamicbarbara · 15/09/2017 17:47

Erm hang on a minute. If you own the food when you buy it would you expect to go and order kids meals for your whole family including adults and expect them to be okay with it? Either it's a kid's meal or it's a free for all..

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/09/2017 18:01

My DM has the childrens' meal (Macaroni Cheese) when she goes to Morrisons and she's WELL over 10yo.

Maybe they realise that she wont finish a full meal (she's 80) or maybe their staff aren't as batshit !

cowgirlsareforever · 15/09/2017 18:07

You paid for food and it was taken.away from you by a Morrison's manager? That's bloody ridiculous. Sounds like he was angry because you complained about the food (which you were absolutely right to do) and he was being petulant. Terrible behaviour by Morrisons, especially given that it happened in front of your dd.

AJPTaylor · 15/09/2017 18:13

I just knew it was morries.

All usually goes smoothly but when it goes wrong it goes mental.

Complain massively.

Willow2017 · 15/09/2017 18:15

What a curious take on this!

She ordered a meal for herself and her dd. She sent hers back because it was inedible. She took a couple of chips off her daughters plate and the staff member took the childs plate that she had paid for away. How is that fair. You pay for a meal its yours to do what you want with. It doesnt matter who pinches a few chips off it. WHat if it had been an adult meal and the kid pinched a chip? Wpuld he have been reasonable to take the adults meal away cos it wasnt for kids?

I know several people who always order a kids meal as they cant manage a full adult meal and they have never had a problem anywhere. How on earth is it a free for all?

Fekko · 15/09/2017 18:16

The staff in m&s cafes are always lovely.

RJnomore1 · 15/09/2017 18:22

My mum and dad go to Morrisons for tea all the time because my mum has a small appetite and the staff give her the free kids meal while my dad eats!

HelloSquirrels · 15/09/2017 18:23

This is crazy. Just because it's a child's portion doesn't mean only children can eat it. In the same way you don't have to show your Id to order an adult meal!

ChasedByBees · 15/09/2017 18:23

Let us know their reply OP! It is ridiculous.
