To think this was the most pathetically stupid thing ever

Went to a supermarket cafe with 2yo DC, both our meals came after a silly long wait and mine was grim and stone cold so I asked for a refund (they offered me a choice of replacement or refund but it had taken so long to begin with and DC was tucking into hers at that point so refund was easier)
She has finished and was eating her fruit bag so I picked at a couple of chips that she hadn't eaten...she hadn't eaten a huge amount anyway! When the manager came barrelling over and whisked the plate from me to infront of her and told me "that meal is for age 10 and under not for adults" I said "she's finished her meal and mine was inedible" so he then said he would have to ask me to leave if I was going to eat another chip and did I want to be embarrassed infront of everyone...so we left anyway

So now a half plate of food has been wasted over 3 fucking chips

Fucking insania

I recently had a kids meal at Morrisons (I wasn't starving but wanted nuggets Blush). The lady knew it was for me as there was me DS and DP and we ordered 2 kids and one adult meal and she even let me pick a different drink.

Manager was being petty and a PITA if you ask me.

peachybeachy · 14/09/2017 14:21

were you eating the kids free meal? maybe there's lots of scammers about and he was getting annoyed about it. still shouldn't speak to you like that though.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 14/09/2017 14:23

I regularly finish my three year olds chips, he never eats very many!
Ridiculous behaviour from the manager. Do complain.

guilty100 · 14/09/2017 14:29

No, it's not theft because the OP had received a refund. It is really petty, though.

Here's the situation as I understand it: the OP got a refund on the meals on the basis that hers was cold and there had been a long wait (both valid reasons). She then ate some of her daughter's food -
for which she'd also received a refund- and the manager threw an apparently totally irrelevant hissy fit about it being a child's meal.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/09/2017 14:30

Did you get the refund for your meal before he threw you out? Did he realise you paid for your food?

ArcheryAnnie · 14/09/2017 14:35

It is theft if she's paid for the kid meal - which she says she did.

Shadow666 · 14/09/2017 14:36

The OP got a refund for her meal not her daughters. Its not that hard to understand.

dobbyclub · 14/09/2017 14:39

guilty I think OP got a refund on her own meal, not the DD's

ZaphodBeeblerox · 14/09/2017 14:39

Ridiculous! Last time I was at IkEA I actually ordered a child's meal and ate it myself because I wanted a small portion but was really craving their meatballs. As long as I pay what is it to them who consumes it?

The only explanation I can think of is that the manager thought it was a free meal? But that's ridiculous behaviour! Hope your complaint gets addressed!

Willow2017 · 14/09/2017 14:42

A relative of mine often orders a child's portion. She has a stomach condition and can't eat much at onr sitting. Never been a problem anywhere.

OP paid for the child's meal what difference does it make who eats a few chips that are going to waste?

Complain loudly till you get a proper apology op not just some generic rubbish they send out to shut people up.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 14/09/2017 15:07

MY meal was refunded, not the kids meal or drinks and it wasn't free as the kids free meal doesn't start until 3pm

RedForFilth · 14/09/2017 15:10

Why would it matter what age the person consuming the good was anyway?
And if he was angry because you were finishing the chips left by your child to the point of taking the plate back to the kitchen I'd worry they were reusing it.
I used to work in a morrisons cafe at 16 and have never heard of anything like it!!

ConciseandNice · 14/09/2017 15:13

You need to get on their Facebook page right now and complain. You'll get an apology within minutes in my experience. They'll want to jump on it before the Daily Fail do.

ineedmorethanthis · 14/09/2017 15:19

But why is that annoying shirty. Who cares if a 37yr old woman eats a child's meal? It isn't as though they are that cheap? I thought we were all meant to eat less.

ineedmorethanthis · 14/09/2017 15:21

Wtf sparkling
A wine bar and a sushi bar in Waitrose!
Envy

nigelsbigface · 14/09/2017 15:24

Complain of course.

ineedmorethanthis · 14/09/2017 15:24

By the way if you had titled this:

AIBU to think that Morrisons shouldn't threaten to embarrass me and are cunts?

their customer service would have been on here like a shot and you'd have got a fast resolution. Just saying.

Wildaboutoscar · 14/09/2017 15:25

Wow won't ever eat there sounds horrid.

Youcanttaketheskyfromme · 14/09/2017 15:27
Shock

WTF you'd paid for that food !

Morrisons are vile anyway but I'd still complain - head office or social media.

BMW6 · 14/09/2017 15:27

You had paid for the kids meal so you had paid for the leftover crap chips that the idiotic manager took away from you!

Definitely complain to head office! Twat should be reprimanded and you are due a fulsome apology OP.

DeleteOrDecay · 14/09/2017 15:29

Wow YANBU. I'd be posting on their social media about this. What a jobsworth.

BMW6 · 14/09/2017 15:29

I wonder if the Daily Fail will pick this one up! Where was this Morrison's OP?

UnderCrackers5 · 14/09/2017 15:33

Obv if you had bought one adults meal and given the child three adult chips, he would have dashed over to offer you the difference between three grown up chips and three toddler chips.

Fudgefase · 14/09/2017 15:38

Yup, I think that too. He had the hump about having to refund you and didn't see why you should eat for free. Arse.

ChilliMary · 14/09/2017 15:42

I can't believe this! You paid for your child's meal so you could have done anything with it as it was yours! Oh please name and shame - such behaviour should absolutely not be allowed!!
