and where do they go????
My example: 10 days ago DS age 9 had a bath. He reappeared wrapped in his Disney Cars bath sheet (yes bit young for him but he still loves the towel) went to his room, reappeared in his pjs for a story. He didn't go downstairs. I read the story and then went to bathroom - no towel. Asked him where it was, and he looked blank but said he hung it up.
10 days later and despite extensive search of his room and upstairs there is no sign of it. It's not anywhere, really not. Even if he'd deliberately hidden it, which I'm sure he hasn't, we'd have found it as I know he did t go downstairs.
Now I know there will be a rational explanation but it's a big thing to 'lose' between two rooms, and we extended search to whole of upstairs. No doubt at some stage we'll smell the mildew Sad
Anyone else lost seemingly unloseable things? And did they ever reappear? So I feel less mad

I was superorganised one year. I bought all the Christmas cards for the next year in the January sales. I put them away with the Christmas things. 9 years, including a house move later and I have never found them. Confused

I have never been so organised since.

BulletFox · 15/09/2017 15:51

My grandmother's platinum diamond ring no idea where it went. Beautiful tiny boxy cashmere cardi, very chanel-esque, no idea

Large embroidered fabric hanging of taj mahal, present from my best friend's brother,& water sapphire necklace from ex, stolen Angry (flatmate's light fingered girlfriend was visiting)

Eenymeeny123 · 15/09/2017 15:54

The bar from the toilet holder. Went to change the empty roll and lost the bar!!! Checked bins can't find the blasted thing.

TheDizzyRascal · 15/09/2017 15:57

Oh wow this thread is awesome.

I have a few. Have TOTALLY lost my wedding dress, cannot find it anywhere, even though I remember exactly where I put it, or so I thought lol.

My husband has lost his favourite coat, he has like a million others but no, it his FAVOURITE that has gone missing between the hallway and the coat cupboard.

No idea where the caravan awning has gone. We bought it, didn't use it for ages so put it "somewhere safe" until camping season started and then couldn't find it. Have since had to buy another and still not found the first. They're not exactly small either so goodness knows whats happened to it.

My mum lost a diamond out of her engagement ring TWICE and found it TWICE! Once on my bedroom floor and once amongst the potato peelings. And when diamonds aren't in a ring they are TINY, she is a very lucky person generally though so it's typical of her!

Could go on all day! x

My passport a couple of years ago. It lived in a drawer wrapped in an elastic band with everyone else's passports and all the other important stuff.

Had to renew our DDs' passports before we booked a holiday and I needed my passport number. Couldn't find it anywhere. Everyone else's were still there in the elastic band but mine had vanished. I cancelled it and got a new one but it's never come to light.

DizzyRascal - those are some BIG things to lose Grin

A large Mothrcare baby box (circa 1974) which was full of assorted Lego... It was put into the attic with other toys when the DC were teenagers -- 3 house moves later, the toys are all being played with by the DGC, but the box of Lego has vanished without trace...Shock

Nearly 11 years ago I lost my favourite jumper. I was rushing round the house getting rest to go out, put it down somewhere and never saw it again. Confused 100% didn't lose it outside as I remember being cold that day without it.

Tweezers and hair pins always vanish in this house. I'm forever replacing them.

allotmentgirl82 · 15/09/2017 20:24

I've lost/misplaced a ball gown that I need for 29th. I bought it, brought home and put in wardrobe. Bought shoes to go with it, went to get dress to try both on together, no sign of the dress :(

shushpenfold · 15/09/2017 20:27

I lost a favourite top about 4 years ago. NO idea, no sign of it. I found it in a little used side pocket of an overnight bag about 3 months ago. Sadly I've put on sufficient weight to make it just a bit too tight now. Much annoyance.

Sayyouwill · 15/09/2017 20:48

SODDING TEASPOONS!!!!

fourandnomore · 15/09/2017 21:10

Some of these are hilarious and some so sad. Mine are more annoying than bad. The spare car key. It's a very annoying card key and cost £180 for a new one that had to come from France to be programmed when the other one became unusable because we had lost the spare, had searched high and low for weeks while the other one got more and more unreliable. Found it a week later when I had a clothes sort out. It fell out of the pocket of a denim skirt as I got it out of my drawer. So annoying.
My husband lost his work keys for a good few days. Couldn't lock his bike in the staff lock up one day. It was stolen from a normal bike stand, they cut through the d lock grrrr. Found them in my eldest's welly. You couldn't write it but had the car key not been on its way from
France he could have driven in!

fourandnomore · 15/09/2017 21:11

Oh and my favourite jeans, I've even bought another pair but they're not the same aggggghghh.

cynthiasheep · 15/09/2017 21:38

Lost my car key- we spent ages looking and eventually paid £££ for a new one. A couple of years later I was sorting out clothes to give to the charity shop and the old key fell out of a skirt pocket.

Lost my keys again for weeks. I searched everywhere and even asked in all the shops I could have been into (even though I was sure they were at home). Just as I was steeling myself to pay another £££ for the replacement and get new house keys cut, I found them at the bottom of my special wrapping paper bag. (We had been to a birthday party on the day I lost them.)

When DS was very little I lost my keys for a few days. I found them in his toy garage (he had the right idea!)

Lost my keys the other day as we were in the process of loading the car to go out. I had everyone searching the drive and the house because I'd had them 5 minutes before to open the car. I found them in the little drawer in the kitchen where I'd decided I should always keep my keys so I don't keep losing them...

Sandsunsea · 15/09/2017 21:41

My social life.
Oh, and sunglasses.

OhTheRoses · 15/09/2017 21:46

Diamond from engagement ring
Dd's national insurance number
Car keys
Tiffany cross may have been an au-pair

ivykaty44 · 15/09/2017 21:48

A single bed
Some 19 years ago and still at same house but never found it

Clawdy · 15/09/2017 21:53

I lost my engagement ring - thirty years ago. I knew it was somewhere in the house, and had regular searches over the years, getting the kids to have a ring hunt with a massive reward if they found it! Always was sure it would turn up if we ever moved house. We did - last year. And it never turned up.

candlefloozy · 15/09/2017 21:55

I've lost a kindle. Moved house and still didn't find it. I've recently lost my Amazon fire stick remote. Been missing for months

sporadicrains · 15/09/2017 22:21

One flip flop. Every couple of years, we have a clearout, and there is the odd one on its own. I've kept it just in case the other one turns up, but now I don't know whether there are actually two of them in the house, and I can only ever locate one of them at a time!

dodobookends · 15/09/2017 22:30

Never mind losing things, random things just turn up in our house. A few days ago a women's raincoat appeared, doesn't belong to us, nor to anybody who's been round here recently. No idea where that came from. Other things lately include pairs of patterned socks which nobody recognises, odd teaspoons that have a different pattern to our usual set, a chocolate Star Wars advent calendar, a charger that doesn't fit anything we own and a black t-shirt. The other day I tidied a drawer in the dresser and discovered 8 pairs of reading glasses. Whose are they, and what are they doing in there?

enceladus · 16/09/2017 00:55

Currently searching for reading glasses which I suspect have been binned by my 2.5 year old as he hated me wearing glasses and tells me to take them off. The second worst was a 1 week search for a sky remote control. That search went to the bowels, an entire wheelie bin of rubbish was searched through ( we put our dog poo in there also ...) the house upside down, we then bought a new one, only for the original to 'show up' in the middle of our 7 year olds room, 2 hours after the new remote was bought. No-one would own up to it. The wrost was my own husband who lost our legal certificate to get married 24 hours before the wedding and he took off me as he knows how careless I am. Countless other items, I suspect 2 year olds in the bin.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/09/2017 03:40

A small sieve and 2 loose bottomed cake tins.

WiddlinDiddling · 16/09/2017 03:52

I've a lost and found..

My mum gave me a lovely gold and silver owl pendant, a really nice little thing from some finnish designer that she'd had for years.

I lost it somewhere in our house in Manchester and could not find it... turned the place upside down.

Fast forward nearly 20 years....

I was tidying up a minor floodage in the cloakroom loo, I dislodged a fold of cardboard that had been jammed behind some open pipework and out falls a rather tatty chain...... with the owl pendant on it..

.... this is in my Fathers house, some 150 miles from where pendant had last been seen, and mother had never set foot on the property and I had rarely visited since owning the pendant nor had I ever worn it there.

MacTweedy · 16/09/2017 04:04

One of my new slippers. They were only a few quid from Lidl but that's not the point. They're like those ballet slippers, so warmer than socks but still soft enough to leave on whilst you curl up on the sofa. I'm gutted. DH has 'tidied' it somewhere but 'hasn't seen it' Hmmthis is why I don't buy myself anything nice. Humph.
