and where do they go????
My example: 10 days ago DS age 9 had a bath. He reappeared wrapped in his Disney Cars bath sheet (yes bit young for him but he still loves the towel) went to his room, reappeared in his pjs for a story. He didn't go downstairs. I read the story and then went to bathroom - no towel. Asked him where it was, and he looked blank but said he hung it up.
10 days later and despite extensive search of his room and upstairs there is no sign of it. It's not anywhere, really not. Even if he'd deliberately hidden it, which I'm sure he hasn't, we'd have found it as I know he did t go downstairs.
Now I know there will be a rational explanation but it's a big thing to 'lose' between two rooms, and we extended search to whole of upstairs. No doubt at some stage we'll smell the mildew Sad
Anyone else lost seemingly unloseable things? And did they ever reappear? So I feel less mad

Wedding and engagement rings 😩 Took off when pregnant and put in a pretty pot in kitchen. Never seen again

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 12/09/2017 21:01

I lost an opal necklace, not expensive but sentimental value as DH bought it for me from Coober Pedy, I put it down in my parents home and it just disappeared.

Also a Gap hoodie.

Where could they just go? It's so mysterious Grin

GastonsWife · 12/09/2017 21:07

When I was at uni we lost the remote control. We never found it or the figured out where it went and couldn't use the freeview for the rest of the year. Surely no one would have taken it out of the room let alone out of the house?!

PotatoesPastaAndBread · 12/09/2017 21:09

We lost a double duvet cover. Wasn't in laundry bin or airing cupboard or washing machine or drying rack. All sheets and pillow cases from the set present and correct.

Eventually found it on the duvet. Under another duvet cover. DH had put two on, one on top of the other...!

We had looked for ages. So that also tells you something about how often we wash our duvet covers 😂

MenopausalMaud · 12/09/2017 21:18

this is where all the lost things go

alibongo5 · 12/09/2017 21:44

I also lost all the rings I wear always. My fingers swell up when I go for long walks, particularly in hot weather so I took them off and put them in my jeans pocket and then couldn't find them when I got home. Rang the pub where we stopped. No joy. Looked all around the bedroom floor where I took my jeans off. Again no joy. Months later I turned the mattress over and there they all were, all three under the mattress. Huh? How?

EscapingAdultLife · 12/09/2017 22:02

Did you wash the towel with the bedding? Could the towel be caught inside the duvet cover?

Spangles1963 · 12/09/2017 22:02

I had an odd experience about 15 years. I put a ten pound note in a cup,on my bedside cupboard. The same day,my DD and I went to my DM's for the weekend. We came home 3 days later, and when I looked in the cup,the tenner was gone. I was completely mystified. I looked all around my bedroom for it,although I couldn't see how it could have got out of the cup. The only person who had access to my flat in my absence was my NDN,who kept hold of a spare key for me. I casually mentioned it to him a few days later and he immediately started to apportion blame on my DD,who was 14 at the time. I just knew that she wouldn't have taken it,besides which, she'd been with me all weekend, and I'd only put the tenner in the cup shortly before we went to my DM's,so she would not have had a chance to take it. I was a little bit Hmm at my NDN's eagerness to blame my DD,but I couldn't prove anything,so said nothing. Anyway,a few weeks later,I decided that the mattress on my bed needed turning. My DD gave me a hand, and lo and behold, when we lifted the mattress, there was a ten pound note sitting on the base of the bed. I am 100% certain that I hadn't put it there. So how DID it get there? To this day,I suspect my NDN. I think he may have 'borrowed' it,thinking I wouldn't notice, and when it became apparent that I HAD noticed it had gone, had replaced it in an obscure place when DD and I had gone to my DM's again since. He knew when we were away as I told him we were going so he could keep an eye on my flat in our absence.

mummymummums · 12/09/2017 22:13

No Escaping - good idea though! I realised it was missing within half hour of him taking towel off and putting pjs on, and I went through washing basket at time which was pointless as DS never puts anything in there

A lovely little gold plated steiff teddy bear on a necklace that I bought for my DD about 7 years ago for a Christmas present. I have never found it since I put it 'somewhere safe'. Every now and then I think about it and wonder where on earth it went.

Tattybogle89 · 12/09/2017 22:20

Op have you read the novel, a place called here, by Cecelia ahern? Very interesting idea on all the things that go missing ending up in the same place. It's good 😁

Tattybogle89 · 12/09/2017 22:21

@menopausalmaud you bet me to it 😊 Glad to see I'm not the only one who visualised a scene from a book when reading his thread 😂

StrumpersPlunkett · 12/09/2017 22:22

Dh's wedding ring. ☹️

CaptWentworth · 12/09/2017 22:22

I lose my phone a lot. The trouble is, I'm usually on it while looking for it Hmm

minipie · 12/09/2017 22:23

DD's beloved favourite soft toy Sad we have looked everywhere and she hadn't taken him out anywhere for days

Nappy bag
Necklace

I lost my engagement ring for several weeks, but it turned up in the pocket of a dress I hadn't worn since the previous year which was very weird

mycatloveslego · 12/09/2017 22:24

iPhone headphones. We always bring them home as they're attached to our phones. Over the years we must have amassed around 10 pairs between us but can we find any of them? Nope. I am suspicious that one of the cats may be complicit in this.....

Cuppaand2biscuits · 12/09/2017 22:37

Christmas Tree salt and pepper pots. They weren't with all my Christmas things that go up in the loft. I searched the whole kitchen but never found them.

DP lost his drivers licence, 2 year old DS got the blame. It was found on a beam in the loft where it must have fallen out of his pocket.
2 year old DS was a bugger for hiding things. My house keys were missing for a whole week once and turned up in the boot of a barbie car.

mummymummums · 12/09/2017 23:00

Menopausal and Tatty - have added that book to my Amazon wish list Smile

3.5" paring knife. The gap in the knife block is starting to annoy me. I've looked everywhere. Everywhere, that is, except The Drawer of Doom. I'm going to have to face it, amn't I?

Betsyboo87 · 12/09/2017 23:10

Our house contains at least 4 copies of DHs driving licence and 7 cancelled bank cards. He's currently missing both of the above and his house keys. I'm having to give him lunch money everyday but at least I know he's not buying things we don't need!

TheQueenSnortsAvocados · 12/09/2017 23:30

A hamster.

WombOfOnesOwn · 13/09/2017 00:02

When my DS was about 6 months old, DH's phone went COMPLETELY missing. We looked high, low, moved every piece of furniture. We couldn't figure it out.

When moving 8 months later, we decided to get rid of our old living room couch. And I don't remember which of us thought of it, but since the phone had last been seen on the couch, we decided to open the bottom of the damnable thing up with a razor blade.

Out plopped the phone. Given where it had (somehow!) gotten to, there'd have been no way to retrieve it without destroying the couch.

ForagingForFaerieGold · 13/09/2017 00:15

Borrowers? Ghosts? I lost my Great Gran' s gold watch and pavé butterfly ring. I'm sure it was spooks wot dun it. Shock

Tantpoke · 13/09/2017 00:19

We all spent what seemed like hours looking for my DD shoes when she was about 2 only to find them in the Washing Machine.

auratheexplorer · 13/09/2017 00:40
