and where do they go????
My example: 10 days ago DS age 9 had a bath. He reappeared wrapped in his Disney Cars bath sheet (yes bit young for him but he still loves the towel) went to his room, reappeared in his pjs for a story. He didn't go downstairs. I read the story and then went to bathroom - no towel. Asked him where it was, and he looked blank but said he hung it up.
10 days later and despite extensive search of his room and upstairs there is no sign of it. It's not anywhere, really not. Even if he'd deliberately hidden it, which I'm sure he hasn't, we'd have found it as I know he did t go downstairs.
Now I know there will be a rational explanation but it's a big thing to 'lose' between two rooms, and we extended search to whole of upstairs. No doubt at some stage we'll smell the mildew Sad
Anyone else lost seemingly unloseable things? And did they ever reappear? So I feel less mad

My prescription sunglasses. I don't wear them often, usually on holiday. After searching high and low I decided I must have left them in a hotel - unlikely as my ex was forensic in checking rooms as we left. I found them 2 weeks ago in an old vanity case on top of a wardrobe in their case mixed up with spare make up bags. I lost them in 2008!

Nikephorus · 13/09/2017 08:11

I now want to go round to OP's house and find it! Look harder OP, this is going to bug me Grin

Artistic · 13/09/2017 08:23

I've lost my old iPhone Confused. Don't know what I lost on it anymore, hoping not much. It's network stopped working & poor battery so just few minutes before it died. We've moved home since so I've given up hope.

Justdontknow4321 · 13/09/2017 08:58

An iPod years ago... never found it..

A black hoody type jacket as well... literally only had it a week and I remember seeing it in my bedroom... gone! Never to be seen again ... we have moved house since as well and it's never been found.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/09/2017 09:59

Ages ago a dd lost a silver Claddagh ring that had been a present.

Some years later while having an unaccustomed serious blitz of the kitchen, I pulled a deep saucepan drawer right out in order to clean behind and under it. The ring was there, behind that saucepan drawer, tarnished black but otherwise OK.
How on earth it ever got in there I will never understand.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/09/2017 10:48

Having stripped a load of cold chicken off a carcass and left it in a dish on the kitchen table, I nipped to a nearby shop for some onions.
Came back just minutes later, couldn't find that dish of chicken anywhere. Looked in the fridge, in the oven, you name it.

Finally realised that our dog was lurking in a corner under the table, looking guilty, with a perfectly licked-clean dish beside him....
Had to find something else for dinner that night.

Dixiebell · 13/09/2017 12:36

This week we have lost a pair of swimming goggles and a toothbrush. Lots things are always inside something else though, like a bag. Lost
socks are always inside a duvet cover! We lost
The Two of Spades a while back, and found it recently when our outside decking was replaced, it had fallen through a crack. It was just about recognisable!

fusspot66 · 13/09/2017 12:46

A mug of hot tea disappeared this morning. I set it down on the coffee table and it hasn't been seen since. It was in a China mug with painted dogs on it.

Ttbb · 13/09/2017 12:52

My DH has been constantly asking me where his passport is this past week. Each time I say in your bag and surprise surprise there it is.

mummymummums · 13/09/2017 12:55

Borrowers! I must have Borrowers. Love that idea. I work right in a place where some of it was filmed so it's entirely possible a family came home in my bag GrinGrinGrin
Some real mysteries on here! But enjoying the found stories.
Nikephorus - I wish someone would find it! Seriously bugging me too. Have looked afresh with less focus on bright colours and more on possibility the duller side is showing but nada

A gold necklace I inherited from my grandma. It's unusual and fairly valuable for me. Boyfriend found it a year later down the side of the couch. What must have happened was we'd had friends round and I'd taken off and put on the arm.

SpottedGingham · 13/09/2017 13:00

I took off a necklace that my OH bought for my 40th and put it on my bedside table overnight. Nothing else on there but a lamp. I have never seen it since despite many intensive searches. Sad

user1468353179 · 13/09/2017 13:12

I once lost a joint of cooked beef I'd left it on the side in the kitchen and it had gone when I came back The plate was there, but not the meat and I thought I'd gone mad Turns out the dogs were in the garden having a feast and the cat was watching them I can only assume that the cat knocked it down ad the dogs stole it.

Zaphodsotherhead · 13/09/2017 13:16

My late mother's engagement ring.

No it hasn't been stolen/borrowed, and yes I know exactly where I left it. Went to take it out - gone. Nearly 20 years ago now and it's never turned up again.

Bastard fairies.

Zaphodsotherhead · 13/09/2017 13:33

Oh oh, and my good riding jacket (which I suspect I took off at someone's house and went home without and they lost it under a pile of other coats) and a necklace my aunt gave me, which I took off at my OH's house, put in 'a safe place' and haven't seen since.

WRT my riding jacket, I know we've had a thread here about 'things you found that you didn't know you had' and I keep expecting it to turn up on there...

heron98 · 13/09/2017 16:03

I lost one of my very expensive winter mittens. I found it SIX YEARS later in the pocket of a sports bag in my wardrobe. I have no idea how it got there. Luckily I still had the other one.

mostmoisturised · 13/09/2017 16:27

I left some things in storage with an Ex and when I got them back I found every unopened cream or bath gel had been opened and tested or partly used. I threw them away because I couldn't bear to use them. Just yuk.

At home someone might go through your stuff when you aren't looking, maybe play with it, put it back in the wrong place or 'borrow' it.

I think the Sherlock Holmes quote goes: '...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth..' (Sign of the Four).

MrsJamesAspey · 13/09/2017 16:35

The key to the patio doors. I remember locking the door and putting the key on the bookshelves next to the door. Went to open the door later and it was gone. Haven't opened the patio door for a year now Confused

onlyslightlyinterested · 13/09/2017 16:47

I lost DSs Nintendo DSI. One minute, I had it, the next, it was gone...4 years later, and it still hasn't turned up

Poshindevon · 13/09/2017 17:13

A white bra. I lost it two weeks ago. Its my favourite bra comfortable but lacey. I know I washed it. I remember bringing it in off the line.
After that its a complete blank. Have looked every where. Its gone

anotherprosecco · 13/09/2017 17:59

A pillowcase once when I was changing the bed. One minute it was there, the next - gone. Found it a few years later when we moved the bed before decorating; it must have slipped down behind the solid headboard and was invisible when I looked under the bed. Also an Avon catalogue, searched high and low, turned up days later in the freezer.

MillieMoodle · 13/09/2017 18:16

I lost some fridge magnets that I brought back from holiday last year (I've never been able to find them but I know I had them when I got in the house). Also a purse with euros in hasn't been seen since the same holiday. I suspect they are hiding in the same place but I've turned the house upside down trying to find them and they aren't anywhere! Confused

mouseymummy · 13/09/2017 18:37

Once I put my 12mo to bed, amber bracelet on her ankle and a sleepsuit with feet and a sleeping bag.

She woke up at 6am. I changed her to find her amber gone. Confused

Spent 4 days hunting her room, living room, sofa etc etc. Could not find this thing anywhere. Really confused the hell out of me

Day 5, I wash my onesie, when it was in the dryer I could hear a clanking, open the dryer to find the amber in it!!! I hadn't worn it in over a week and was only washing it because my eldest had spilled a drink on some clean washing!!

mummymummums · 15/09/2017 15:23

Had to update - it's turned up when I wasn't looking. Very boring.
Somehow it was behind and obscured by (due to being folded and caught up by) a hoodie which is in similar colours, hanging on a set of pegs on the wall behind DS's door. Hoodie not been worn for several weeks, and I did check the pegs but obvs not very well!

I bought a bottle of Jo Loves Gardenia perfume
It sat on my bedside table for weeks so that I could lovingly look at it
I then decided to put it somewhere safe......
I haven't seen it since and despite searching all possible places still cannot find it
