and where do they go????
My example: 10 days ago DS age 9 had a bath. He reappeared wrapped in his Disney Cars bath sheet (yes bit young for him but he still loves the towel) went to his room, reappeared in his pjs for a story. He didn't go downstairs. I read the story and then went to bathroom - no towel. Asked him where it was, and he looked blank but said he hung it up.
10 days later and despite extensive search of his room and upstairs there is no sign of it. It's not anywhere, really not. Even if he'd deliberately hidden it, which I'm sure he hasn't, we'd have found it as I know he did t go downstairs.
Now I know there will be a rational explanation but it's a big thing to 'lose' between two rooms, and we extended search to whole of upstairs. No doubt at some stage we'll smell the mildew Sad
Anyone else lost seemingly unloseable things? And did they ever reappear? So I feel less mad

@AtlanticWaves we stopped buying our cat toys and now just give her straws and pipe cleaners. Saves us a fortune and she plays far more.

Our feline masters are strange.

TheKids Mexican House Thief?

nocake · 12/09/2017 12:49

Every single car from a click clack track. We've searched everywhere so unless DD has hidden them really well I think they probably disappeared into a friend's pocket.

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 12/09/2017 12:53

A blue moonstone bracelet I bought on honeymoon.

A few months later we had a party and I must have dropped it. Searched everywhere, asked everyone. Even cut open the bottom of sofas we gave away to see if it had fallen inside.
We never found it so I suppose one of my friends and family might have stolen it Sad
I prefer to think its still in the house somewhere!

StarryCorpulentCunt · 12/09/2017 13:01

A nighty. I took it off, put it in the wash and 15 years later it has still never been seen since. I always assumed it would turn up but it hasn't.

TheMaddHugger · 12/09/2017 13:08

sock thieves anyone ?

To ask, what have you lost at home?
Caenea · 12/09/2017 13:39

My other half has lost his phone.

He definitely brought it into the house, because I saw him with the bloody thing.

It. Is. Nowhere. It was a brand new Galaxy S7 too, I ended up buying him a second hand S5 as a replacement as his Father's Day gift. It's just gone, we're baffled. I've even cut open the bottom of his chair to look for it, but it's vanished clean off the face of the earth. I've deep cleaned so many times, it's just gone....

Anymajordude · 12/09/2017 14:16

I lost a silver enamelled necklace that I made about 18 years ago. I can't make it again as I don't have the equipment. I've never worn it since moving house and I know I've seen it in this house. I've looked everywhere.

mirime · 12/09/2017 14:23

Two built Lego sets (not found yet), two chargers for shavers/epilators (not found yet), battery for the laptop (found), some rather nice red patent shoes (found, but they don't fit anymore, wish they'd stayed lost!), blades for the blender/smoothie maker (disappeared into a black hole I think), DS sandals (found), secateurs (found), tweezers (black hole again, I think), a whole duvet (not found, how the hell does a duvet go missing?).

And the usual socks and bedding - why does every bed linen set I get always end up with only one pillow case?

ACurlyWurly · 12/09/2017 14:42

A silver thumb ring from my brother, worn for 20 years and tough to remove without a fight as i have fat thumbs and then suddenly it wasn't there. I hadn't left the house and remembered it earlier in the day searched everywhere but nothing.
An epilator in a large white makeup bag with charger and all attachments would have sworn it was where it was always kept in bedside drawer but it is nowhere!

teaandakitkat · 12/09/2017 14:47

Car key. Completely vanished. We used to have 2 but now we only have 1 and I live in constant fear of losing it.

ineedwine99 · 12/09/2017 14:50

Mums eternity ring from dad, put it in my pocket at school and noticed 10 mins later it had gone, not even sure anyone saw me put it there :-(
Baby's stick for her xylophone, one minute she had it, the next it had gone

user1494409994 · 12/09/2017 14:53

Thought I'd lost my son (nearly 5 years old) at the time. He was sitting on my shoulders and I was holding his ankles. In my defence the station was very busy and I couldn't see him until he peaked over the top of my head............

MoiraRosesMeltdown · 12/09/2017 14:53

My dad lost a high-vis jacket, much to everyone's amusement/piss-taking.
"I just can't see it anywhere!" Grin

mummymummums · 12/09/2017 16:16

I have felt inspired by some of these comments to go looking again, but still no towel. Have checked behind radiators. I'll probably update this thread in 5 years to say it turned up in loft or bottom of chest freezer next door!

PonderLand

Twatteryflowers if it's a standard plug hole a milk bottle top will fit it.

Wouldn't it float away? I'll try it anyway though!

53rdWay · 12/09/2017 18:35

I lived in a shared flat once where we lost teaspoons all the time, had to keep on replacing them. Then the landlord replaced the kitchen and when the builders tore out the unit by the sink, we spotted the teaspoon-sized hole right at the back - and the little pile of teaspoons gathering dust underneath.

alibongo5 · 12/09/2017 18:48

I bought a small digital camera last year specifically to take to Glastonbury so that I didn't have to rely on my phone or take my large camera. Went to find it this year - nowhere to be found. I know I brought it back last year as I have photos on my laptop from it. And I don't think I used it anywhere else.

And my Oyster card. I don't live in London but somehow have lost it between visits - why on earth would I even have taken it out of my purse where it lives? I can only think it will turn up in a coat pocket.

Nikephorus · 12/09/2017 19:34

Have you looked in his bed OP? Like right down in it, near the bottom?

mummymummums · 12/09/2017 19:49

Yes Nikephorus, bed was stripped and changed a few days later. What's odd is that I realised very quickly the same evening that it was missing so it can't have got far.
I don't even mind about the loss - he was due a new towel. Just annoying and strange.

thatwhichwecallarose · 12/09/2017 19:55

A bright orange, size 18 duffel coat. Fuck knows where it's gone. Grin

abbsisspartacus · 12/09/2017 20:12

My chopping board found it 6 months later wedged down the back of the radiator

Two tablets and my sanity it was three but I found one

Spangles1963 · 12/09/2017 20:37

Some corned beef and pickle sandwiches I'd made for my lunch. When I got home,I had a quick look around for them, but couldn't see them anywhere. I asked my DD (who was living with me at the time) if she'd seen them or put them anywhere. No,she hadn't seen them. I literally looked everywhere for them but nothing. Anyway, fast forward about 3 months, and I noticed an unpleasant smell coming from the bag of carrier bags that I kept by the front door. On investigating further,I found what could only be described as 'a packet of sludge'. I've still no idea how they got in there.

Niamhisnotarealname · 12/09/2017 20:45

We are having to light the cooker with a click lighter at the moment as the ignightor is broken.
Used it to light the grill for the kids tea, put it down somewhere and it's fucking gone nowhere to be seen. I have even checked stupid places like the fridge or the washing basket and the bin but I cannot see it anywhere. I feel like I must be mad.

Justchillaxing · 12/09/2017 20:53

My favourite ring .. only a silver one but couldn't be replaced ... I found it when I moved house, behind the washing machine Confused
